Easy advice, until the day my father's dirty secrets made me property of the Deadly Pistols Motorcycle Club. Easy, until I came face-to-face with the beautiful bastard who makes me burn with every glance. Firefly. I tried to fight it. Threw every insult in the world his way, hoping to hide how bad my lips were begging to be kissed. Now, I'm losing the battle. Completely. I turned his life upside down. His cocky, unbelievable promises are flipping mine right-side up. He says he's going to make me his. I'm going to love it. And he isn't taking no for an answer. I should slap him upside the head. Instead, I'm becoming a believer in his caveman promises because I can't keep my hands off him... FIREFLY No more games. I cut Cora a hundred kinds of slack when she landed in my world, one that's too twisted for a sheltered spitfire. I laughed at the sass and smears coming out of her mouth 'til the day the Prez made me her bodyguard. Then I put an end to her crap. I protected her. I laid down the law. One raging kiss shut her up for good. Never expected what came next, this urge to rip off her clothes, throw her on my bike, and own her. The monsters coming after her, they're already dead. It's the future that counts, and there's only one I'll live. Cora, she'll get my ink on her skin. She'll wear my ring. She'll have my kid. I'm taking what's mine, taking her night after night, and she's gonna get used to my lips on hers forever. The Outlaw Love books are stand alone romance novels featuring unique lovers and happy endings. No cliffhangers! This is Firefly and Cora's story in the Deadly Pistols MC series.

Download or read book Outlaw Pete written by Bruce Springsteen and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2014-11-04 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Outlaw Pete is a modern legend of a criminal who starts out in diapers and confronts the roughest edges of adulthood. It’s one of the most ambitious and original story songs Springsteen has written. When Bruce Springsteen was a little boy, he learned the story of Brave Cowboy Bill, about a pure-hearted little cowboy. It was the first of Bruce’s Western loves, which now range from John Ford movies to Mexican music to Native American art. Each of these inspirations, plus what he’s learned as a man and a rock ’n’ roller about how to combine whimsy and wisdom, were stations on the way to Outlaw Pete, a modern legend of a criminal who starts out in diapers and confronts the roughest edges of adulthood. It’s one of the most ambitious and original story songs Springsteen has written—rhapsodic and harsh, a meditation on destiny, filled with absurdities but not for one second of its eight minutes exactly a joke. It’s an elaborate musical drama, weaving into a single tapestry several styles of rock and an orchestration reminiscent of a Morricone soundtrack. Outlaw Pete is an adult book, illustrated by Frank Caruso, who drew and painted its pages. Caruso does more than illustrate the song. His approach, immaculately detailed, simple when it needs to be, parallels Springsteen’s blend of absurdity and meditation. The questions about destiny remain unanswered, as they must be, but they’re also brought into a different kind of focus. Details that pass by almost unnoticed in the lyrics become central. Reading and listening have rarely so superbly complemented each other. The result becomes the most intense kind of artistic collaboration, a vision shared. But I’m not trying to start anything, so buy it, don’t steal it, OK? —Dave Marsh

Download or read book Living Among South Carolina Outlaws written by Carl L. Poston Jr and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interior of South Carolina was a Lawless place. In fact, Northern Georgia to western Pennsylvania has always been lacking in law and order, but in South Carolina, after the Cherokee Indian War in 1761, what little law had existed, deteriorated to almost none. Indians were no longer a threat, but bold outlaw gangs roamed and ravaged the country, robbing, killing and kidnapping, ever bold enough to challenge the few Militia. Here, there was no law, therefore, no court or jail for any legal transaction, a weeklong trip had to be made to Charlestown. Seeing no help coming from the government in Chrlestown, citizens of the back country began organizing into vigilante groups called Regulators. In 1766, John Poston II migrated from Pennsylvania with his two sons, John III and Anthony to settle by Lynches Creek in Qyeensboro Township. Here in the lawless frontier, they struggled to make a home among the outlaws and Regulators.

Download or read book In Laws and Outlaws written by Sybil Wolfram and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-05 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1987, this book presented for the first time a unified treatment of English kinship of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This system, far from being a patchwork of historical accidents, has a remarkably logical overall structure, permeating both law and custom. To understand it one must study a wide variety of sources ranging from Parliamentary debates through accounts of contemporary events, cases and incidents to fiction of the day. The work is pertinent to current studies in a number of fields: in history it represents a systematic overview, highlighting new sources of material, while for lawyers it gives a historical context and explanation of ‘family law’, particularly topical for impending English legislation in this area at the time. It collects two centuries of sociological data, and presents social anthropologists with the English system for comparison with systems conventionally studied in the field and with kinship theory. Finally, it provides philosophers with a new arena in which to discuss the nature of explanations of human activities, besides raising fresh questions.
