Created in 2006, and held every two years ever since, it is organized by the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the University of Geneva in partnership with 30 global health organizations. Building on the dynamic of International Geneva, the Geneva Health Forum is one of the most important international global health conferences. The overall objective of the Geneva Health Forum is to contribute to the improvement of health and access to health care in the world. To achieve this goal, it aims to give visibility to innovative field experiences and to establish a critical and constructive dialogue between global health actors from different sectors, as well as to foster collaborations between them. At each edition, the Geneva Health Forum gives an important place to the presentation of research projects. Research, whether carried out by students or established researchers, contributes to innovation and new practices in access to care. The synthesis of research results in the form of a poster remains a quality exercise. Electronic dissemination offers new opportunities to meet a wider audience. Favoring a multidisciplinary approach, the GHF is open to all professions working in the health field. From 16 to 18 November 2020, the eighth edition of the Geneva Health Forum, which took place in the difficult context of the Covid 19 pandemic, hosted 165 posters. The present collection offers through 65 posters a wide range of topics discussed. We look forward to seeing you at the next edition of the GHF, which will take place from 3 to 5 May 2022.

Book excerpt: The Health Transition Fund, a joint federal, provincial, & territorial effort to encourage & support evidence-based decision-making in health care reform, funded about 140 pilot projects and evaluation studies over 1997-2001 in nine theme areas. This report summarizes key learnings from 45 projects in the Fund's home care theme area. Introductory sections set the context for the projects (including background on home care, provincial policies, & other issues facing home care in Canada) and provide an overview of the Fund's home care studies. The report then discusses significant & relevant findings of projects that examined the cost-effectiveness of home care, improving access, barriers to appropriate use, substitution of hospital services with home care, reforming existing programs, health human resources, & other issues. Finally, implications of the findings for policy & practice are discussed. The appendix summarizes information on the Fund projects relevant to home care.

These actions are carried out in highly different contexts by organizations and people with different professional backgrounds, in different sectors and with different types of resources. All these different actors--and their donors--need practical assessments leading to recommendations that can be used immediately to improve people's mental health and well-being. Although a range of assessment tools exist, what has been missing is an overall approach that clarifies when to use which tool for what purpose. This document offers an approach to assessment that should help you review information that is already available and only collect new data that will be of practical use, depending on your capacity and the phase of the humanitarian crisis. This document is rooted in two policy documents, the IASC Reference Group s (2010) "Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Humanitarian Emergencies: What Should Humanitarian Health Actors Know?" and the "Sphere Handbook's Standard on Mental Health" (Sphere Project, 2011). It is written primarily for public health actors. As the social determinants of mental health and psychosocial problems occur across sectors, half of the tools in the accompanying toolkit cover MHPSS assessment issues relevant to other sectors as well as the health sector.
