Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Wonderful, thoughtful, practical' - Cariad Lloyd, Griefcast 'Encouraging and inspiring' - Dr Kathryn Mannix, author of Amazon bestseller With the End in Mind End-of-life doula Anna Lyons and funeral director Louise Winter have joined forces to share a collection of the heartbreaking, surprising and uplifting stories of the ordinary and extraordinary lives they encounter every single day. From working with the living, the dying, the dead and the grieving, Anna and Louise reveal the lessons they've learned about life, death, love and loss. Together they've created a profound but practical guide to rethinking the one thing that's guaranteed to happen to us all. We are all going to die, and that's ok. Let's talk about it. This is a book about life and living, as much as it's a book about death and dying. It's a reflection on the beauties, blessings and tragedies of life, the exquisite agony and ecstasy of being alive, and the fragility of everything we hold dear. It's as simple and as complicated as that.

  • ISBN : 1566895855
  • Pages : 145 pages

Download or read book The Book of Anna written by Carmen Boullosa and published by Coffee House Press. This book was released on 2020-04-14 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Russia, 1905. Behind the gates of the Karenin Palace, Sergei, son of Anna Karenina, meets Tolstoy in his dreams and finds reminders of his mother everywhere: the almost-living portrait that the Tsar intends to acquire and the opium-infused manuscripts she wrote just before her death, one of which opens a trapdoor to a wild feminist fairytale. Across the city, Clementine, an anarchist seamstress, and Father Gapón, the charismatic leader of the proletariat, tip the country ever closer to revolution. Boullosa lifts the voices of coachmen, sailors, maids, and seamstresses in this playful, polyphonic, and subversive revision of the Russian revolution, told through the lens of Tolstoy’s most beloved work.

Book Anna s Miracles

Download or read book Anna s Miracles written by Anna B. Davis and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anna s Miracles is the auto biography of my life. I have tried to tell the simple story of how my husband. Stuart and I, fell in love and lived an adventurous life. We were both raised on ranches in West Texas Hill Country and when we became adults and married, we moved out of our comfort zone and embraced a world far different than what we knew as children. We fi rst went to California, then to Washington, D. C., and later to other parts of the United States, including Alaska. My husband helped build a tracking station for the Air Force in Pretoria, South Africa, and in Alaska. Stuart was a Tech Rep for Philco/Ford Corp; and we went from one state to another as the job required. I was expected to set up housekeeping under various conditions, some were not so easy, like living in Alaska and having to commute from one island to another by sea plane.. Having to pack up and move whenever a job opened up even if it meant having to follow Stuart later and not move with him. We managed to stay together and make a good life for ourselves wherever we happened to be.. I have documented our many moves and our life as it fi nally settled down and we found home back in Texas to raise our two daughters. Stuart became a Space Scientist at NASA still employed by Philco/Ford/Loreal/Aerospace Division. In 1993, I was diagnosed with Stage IV, Non Hodgkin s Lymphoma. The Doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center found cancer in both sides of my backbone and bone marrow, fi ve tumors in my head, and 89 lymph nodes with cancer from the neck down. I entered a 10 year Clinical Trial, and I was the only patient to survive . My Doctor told me that My Jesus must have healed me, he could not explain why I was still alive. Our family faced many diffi culties during our life but we made it through by believing in God and trusting in Him . I hope my Journal brings hope to those who have diffi culties and think that they are alone. God is real and still answers prayers today.

Book God s Power

    Book Details:
  • Author : Anna Case-Winters
  • Publisher : Westminster John Knox Press
  • Release : 1990-01-01
  • ISBN : 9780664251062
  • Pages : 256 pages

Download or read book God s Power written by Anna Case-Winters and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 1990-01-01 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With this book, Anna Case-Winters provides a reconstruction of the doctrine of God based on process theology and feminist thought. She takes a fresh approach to the problem of theodicy (the justification of God's goodness and omnipotence in view of the existence of evil) and contends that traditional attempts to address this problem are unsuccessful because they do not discuss the meaning of omnipotence. Once the dispute is recast, it is not a question of how much power is attributed to God, but what kind. Case-Winters provides a coherent and theologically viable doctrine of omnipotence that avoids the pitfalls of traditional beliefs.
