Book Our Secret O Nosso Segredo

Download or read book Our Secret O Nosso Segredo written by Yuri Massoxi and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2022-09-30 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What mystery is capable of transforming the past, the present and the future of humanity? In the midst of so many questions about God, our reason for existence, and the meaning of everything around us, this work answers the greatest mystery in the history of mankind. Through a vision—both innovative and revolutionary—and a thorough analysis of the two branches that throughout history have defined our lives directly or indirectly, this book seeks to go beyond the realisation that religion and science have diverged over the years. The work that the reader has in hand is not meant to be a superfluous conspiracy theory, a simple philosophical thought or a utopian idealisation. It aims instead to be a milestone for the thinking of the new man, and is based on logical, sensible, factual and concrete arguments, from which the mystery is unveiled: the mystery to which neither science nor religions have succeeded by giving a full and unanimous response, until today. This book is intended to redefine our beliefs and convictions, find points of convergence between both branches—and thus chart a new path for the discovery of the essence behind God, our mission as human beings, and the existence of everything present in the universe.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the 1952 reorganization of the Portuguese Air Force from the army and naval air arms, Portugal now had an entity dedicated solely to aviation that would bring it into line with its new NATO commitment. As it proceeded to develop a competence in modern multiengine and jet fighter aircraft for its NATO role and train a professional corps of pilots, it was suddenly confronted in 1961 with fighting insurgencies in all three of its African possessions. This development forced it to acquire an entirely new and separate air force, the African air force, to address this emerging danger. This is the story of just how Portuguese leadership anticipated and dealt with this threat, and how it assembled an air force from scratch to meet it. The aircraft available at the time were largely castoffs from the larger, richer, and more sophisticated air forces of its NATO partners and not designed for counterinsurgency. Yet Portugal adapted them to the task and effectively crafted the appropriate strategies and tactics for their successful employment. The book explores the vicissitudes of procurement, an exercise fraught with anti-colonial political undercurrents, the imaginative modification and adaptation of the aircraft to fight in the African theaters, and the development of tactics, techniques, and procedures for their effective employment against an elusive, clever, and dangerous enemy. Advances in weaponry, such as the helicopter gun ship, were the outgrowth of combat needs. The acquired logistic competences assured that the needed fuel types and lubricants, spare parts, and qualified maintenance personnel were available in even the most remote African landing sites. The advanced flying skills, such as visual reconnaissance and air-ground coordinated fire support, were honed and perfected. All of these aspects and more are explored and hold lessons in the application of airpower in any insurgency today.

Book Adverse Genres in Fernando Pessoa

Download or read book Adverse Genres in Fernando Pessoa written by K. David Jackson and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2010-09-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poet, short-story writer, feverish inventor--Fernando Pessoa was one of the most innovative figures shaping European modernism. Known for a repertoire of works penned by multiple invented authors--which he termed heteronyms--the Portuguese writer gleefully subverted the notion of what it means to be an author. Adverse Genres in Fernando Pessoa offers an introduction to the fiction and the "profusion of selves" that populates the enigmatic author's uniquely imagined oeuvre. To guide readers through the eclectic work fashioned by Pessoa's heteronyms, K. David Jackson advances the idea of "adverse genres" revealing genre clashes to be fundamental to the author's paradoxical and contradictory corpus. Through the invented "coterie of authors," Pessoa inverted the usual relationships between form and content, authorship and text. In an inspired, paradoxical, and at times absurd mixing of cultural referents, Pessoa selected genres from the European tradition (Ricardo Reis's Horatian odes, Álvaro de Campos's worship of Walt Whitman, Alberto Caeiro's pastoral and metaphysical verse, and Bernardo Soares's philosophical diary), into which he inserted incongruent contemporary ideas. By creating multiple layers of authorial anomaly Pessoa breathes the vitality of modernism into traditional historical genres, extending their expressive range. Through examinations of "A Very Original Dinner," the "Cancioneiro," love letters to Ophelia Queirós, "The Adventure of the Anarchist Banker," Pessoa's collection of quatrains derived from Portuguese popular verse, the Book of Disquietude, and the major poetic heteronyms, Jackson enters the orbit of the artist who exchanged a normal life for a world of the imagination.
