Book excerpt: William Hendrickson was born in Pennsylvania in 1780, the son of William Hendrickson. He migrated to Jefferson County, Kentucky, with his parents. He married Virginia Jane Kemp, daughter of Reuben Kemp, a Revolutionary War soldier, at Elizabethbethtown, Hardin County, Kentucky, in 1807. They migrated to Patoka (now Cass Township), Dubois County, Indiana, ca. 1808, settling near the town of New Holland. "All the Hendricksons have left this community and the largest number of descendants of this group now reside in Warrick County, Indiana, but many have migrated to the middle and western states. It is this Hendrickson family in which the writer is primarily interested."--P. 8 "William and Virginia Jane Kemp Hendrickson died about 1858-59 and were buried in the Hendrickson burial ground, which is about thrteen miles southeast of Holland, Indiana, on the Vincent Hendrickson farm."--P.17.
