Book excerpt: This book takes you, the reader into the Cultural Heritage of the Turks and Caicos Islands. It depicts the life I knew and that of many others when we were children. It describes acts of love and socializing for adults and children. It is hoped that it is motivation to learn as much as one can about events that happened in the Turks and Caicos Islands many years ago, although some are still current today. The stories are referenced through poetry of its people and their way of life. It is my hope that by sharing this information that readers - young and old, around the world will learn about our country and aspects of its history. I would like for our senior citizens and adults who can relate to the stories told herein to understand the importance of talking about what life was like years ago and how it has change today to their grandchildren and others. It is very important that the Cultural Heritage of one's country be kept alive. Talking about it can do that too. The way of expression will be criticized, but that is ok, as an educator I learnt, practiced and supported the efforts of all my students when they expressed themselves. I wrote how I know that we, Turks and Caicos Islanders thought, still think, speak and so this is my way of expression.
