Book excerpt: In Tao: The Pathless Path, Osho, one of the greatest spiritual teachers of the twentieth century, comments on five parables from the Leih Tzu, bringing a fresh and contemporary interpretation to the ancient wisdom of Tao. Leih Tzu was a well-known Taoist master in the fourth century B.C., and his sly critiques of a Confucius provide abundant opportunities for the reader to explore the contrasts between the rational and irrational, the male and female, the structured and the spontaneous. “Who Is Really Happy” uses the discovery of a human skull on the roadside to probe into the question of immortality and how misery arises out of the existence of the ego. “A Man Who Knows How to Console Himself” looks beneath the apparent cheerfulness of a wandering monk and asks if there is really a happiness that endures through life’s ups and downs. “No Regrets” is a parable about the difference between the knowledge that is gathered from the outside and the “knowing” that arises from within. “No Rest for the Living” uses a dialogue between a despondent seeker and his master to reveal the limits of philosophy and the crippling consequences of living for the sake of some future goal. “Best Be Still, Best Be Empty” discusses the difference between the path of the will, the via affirmitiva of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, versus the path of the mystic, the via negativa of Buddha and Lao Tzu. Tao: The Pathless Path also features a Q&A section that addresses how Taoist understanding applies to everyday life in concrete, practical terms. Osho challenges readers to examine and break free of the conditioned belief systems and prejudices that limit their capacity to enjoy life in all its richness. He has been described by the Sunday Times of London as one of the “1000 Makers of the 20th Century” and by Sunday Mid-Day (India) as one of the ten people—along with Gandhi, Nehru, and Buddha—who have changed the destiny of India. Since his death in 1990, the influence of his teachings continues to expand, reaching seekers of all ages in virtually every country of the world.

Book excerpt: THE CLASSIC OF PURITY is one of the most profound insights into nature. I call it an insight, not a doctrine, not a philosophy, not a religion, because it is not intellectual at all; it is existential. The man who is speaking in it is not speaking as a mind, he is not speaking as himself either; he is just an empty passage for existence itself to say something through him.

Book excerpt: Taoist masters only talk about the Way. Tao means the Way - they don't talk about the goal at all. They say: The goal will take care of itself; you need not worry about the goal. If you know the Way, then you know the goal, because the goal is not at the very end of the Way, the goal is all along the Way - each moment, wherever you are, you are at the goal if you are on the Way. To be on the Way is to be at the goal. Hence, Taoists don't talk about the goal, they don't talk about God, they don't talk about moksha, nirvana, enlightenment - no, not at all. Very simple is their message: You have to find the way.

Book excerpt: InTao,Osho takes readers on an exciting journey into the world of Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu, Lieh Tzu, Ko Hsuan, and the world of Taoism, one of the four major traditions of China. According to Osho, "Tao is no-method, simple spontaneity — living life according to nature with no fight." The 3000-year-old Taoist message of self-realization comes alive through the stories of these Chinese mystics. Osho describes Tao as "the pathless path" because, he says, it has a different quality, the quality of freedom, anarchy, and chaos.

Book excerpt: The powerful combination of the perennial wisdom of Tao and Osho's insightful and inspirational interpretation makes this a true gem of a book - which will appeal not only to Osho's numerous followers, but also to the increasing number of people who are interested in the wisdom of Tao. Although previously little known, this is one of Osho's classics. He brings his unique perception to the world of Tao, and offers his penetrating and illuminating comments on these original sutras. As always, his inspirational anecdotes and stories illustrate the points he makes - about the spiritual search, love, acceptance and true peace and happiness. With wonderfully irreverent humour, Osho sets out to pierce our disguises, shatter our illusions, cure our addictions and demonstrate the self-limiting and often tragic folly of taking ourselves too seriously.

It May Rain On Everest But The Water Doesn T Remain There; It Starts Running Towards The Valley. And The Valley, Too, It Will Reach The Deepest Part. It Is Non-Ambitious. It Has No Ambitions To Be The First. To Be Like Water Means To Be Utterly Happy In Being A Nobody. Second, Water Means Movement. It Is Always Moving, And Whenever It Is Not Moving It Becomes Dirty, Impure, Even Poisonous. It Dies. Its Life Is In Movement, In Dynamism, In Flow. The Whole Life Is A Flow, Nothing Is Static. Osho Tao Means Being. It Believes In This Moment; It Has No Idea Of Future. If You Can Live In This Moment In Purity, In Silence, In Spontaneity, Then Your Life Is Transformed. Not That You Transform It Tao Transforms It, The Whole Transforms It. You Simply Allow The River To Take You To The Ocean; You Need Not Push The River. Osho

Book The Secret of Secrets

Download or read book The Secret of Secrets written by Osho and published by Watkins Media Limited. This book was released on 2017-06-06 with total page 1012 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taoist teachings on life and existence—presented by one of the best-known and provocative spiritual teachers of our time In this unique series of discourses, Osho unravels The Secret of the Golden Flowers, an ancient text that he describes as the essence of Taoism. It is the core of all religions and spiritual paths, belonging to no one and belonging to all. More than 2,500 years old, this remarkable text continues to be as relevant today as it was to its contemporaries. Osho demystifies the important terms used by the Chinese mystic Lu Tsu, or Lao Tzu, and shares his meditation exercises. He also outlines the qualities of animus and anima—our male and female energies—as delineated by Lu Tsu, explaining the importance of their relationships inside each of us. He also provides many valuable techniques and gives specific instructions on the Taoist Golden Light Meditation, which involves harmonizing the male and female elements and transmuting sexual energy. A timeless collection of Osho’s talks on The Secret of the Golden Flower, this book will show you how to not remain a seed but to become what the Chinese called ‘a golden flower.’ Called the ‘one thousand-petaled lotus’ in India, the golden flower is a symbol that represents perfection, totality. It represents the actualization of potential—the beauty, the grandeur, and the splendor of being.

Book excerpt: In Zen: The Path of Paradox, Osho suggests Zen as a possible bridge between East and West, and between the scientific and the spiritual. “Without science, the East has lost much; without meditation, the West has lost much. I am trying to bring together East and West, because together they will create the whole.” Osho encourages the reader to throw off the accumulated “knowing” of a lifetime—to let go of physical, mental, and emotional tensions, to relax into the flow of an extraordinary discourse and become receptive to the present moment and the potential within.
