Book Organophosphorus Monomers and Polymers

Download or read book Organophosphorus Monomers and Polymers written by Ye. L. Gefter and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organophosphorus Monomers and Polymers is the first attempt at a generalization and systemization of existent knowledge of the methods of synthesis and the basic properties of monomers and polymers of organophosphorus compounds, and also of their fields of application. It contains valuable reference material, collated in tables (physical constants of the monomers, properties of the polymers and copolymers, etc.). The literature used by the author has covered journals, patents and books up to 1958, and in some cases more recent results are included. The monomers and polymers are tabulated according to the particular class of phosphorus-containing compounds to which they belong: acids of phosphorus, their derivatives, phosphines, polymers and co-polymers of unsaturated esters of acids of phosphorus, etc. Groups of monofunctional unsaturated phosphorus-containing compounds (acids, acid chlorides, amides, etc.) are listed in the order of: (a) the distance of the multiple bonds from the phosphorus atom, and (b) the number of multiple bonds. Within each group, the unsaturated substances are listed from simple to complex according to the rules laid down in The Chemist's Handbook. The book is intended for scientists, research workers, engineers, and technologists working on the preparation, manipulation, and investigation of monomers and high molecular weight compounds, and also for students studying related branches of chemistry.

Book Green Polymer Chemistry

Download or read book Green Polymer Chemistry written by H. N. Cheng and published by ACS Symposium. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Green chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances. Green polymer chemistry is an extension of green chemistry to polymer science and engineering. Developments in this area have been stimulated by health and environmental concerns, interest in sustainability, desire to decrease the dependence on petroleum, and opportunities to design and produce "green" products and processes. Major advances include new uses of biobased feedstock, green reactions, green processing methodologies, and green polymeric products. A current feature of green polymer chemistry is that it is both global and multidisciplinary. Thus, publications in this field are spread out over different journals in different countries. Moreover, a successful research effort may involve collaborations of people in various disciplines, such as organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, enzymology, toxicology, environmental science, and analytical chemistry. This book combines the major interdisciplinary research in this field and is targeted for scientists, engineers, and students, who are involved or interested in green polymer chemistry. These may include chemists, biochemists, material scientists, chemical engineers, microbiologists, molecular biologists, enzymologists, toxicologists, environmental scientists, and analytical chemists. It can be a textbook for a course on green chemistry and also a reference book for people who need information on specific topics involving biocatalysis and biobased materials.

Book Economic Synthesis of Heterocycles

Download or read book Economic Synthesis of Heterocycles written by Xiao-Feng Wu and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2014-05-21 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heterocycle synthesis is one of the largest areas of modern organic chemistry. Heterocycles have a broad range of applications including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and dyes, and are the core structure to around 90% of naturally-occurring molecules. Transition metal catalysts have become favoured in heterocycle synthesis, not least because of their low cost, but also due to their relatively low environmental toxicity and biocompatibility. This book presents an overview of the state-of-the-art in transition metal catalysis for heterocycle synthesis. Each metal is discussed in turn, presenting a comprehensive source of information on the use of zinc, iron, copper, cobalt, manganese, and nickel in a sustainable and economic manner. Referencing the latest primary literature, and authored by active researchers in the field, this book is a must-have resource for anyone wishing to undertake an economic and sustainable approach to heterocycle synthesis.

Book Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials

Download or read book Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials written by Glen E. Fryxell and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is concerned with functional nanomaterials: materials containing specific, predictable nanostructure whose chemical composition or interfacial structure enable them to perform a specific job ? destroy, sequester or detect some material that constitutes an environmental threat. Nanomaterials have a number of features that make them ideally suited for this job: high surface area, high reactivity, easy dispersability, and rapid diffusion. The purpose of this book is to showcase how these features can be tailored to address some of the environmental remediation and sensing/detection problems faced today. The leading researchers contributing to this volume paint a picture of diverse synthetic strategies, structures, materials and methods. The book is organized into sections on nanoparticle-based remediation strategies, nanostructured inorganic materials (such as layered materials like the apatites), nanostructured organic/inorganic hybrid materials, and the use of nanomaterials to enhance the performance of sensors. The chemistries captured by the contributors form a rich and colorful tapestry.
