Download or read book Organometallic Chemistry written by E W Abel and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic chemistry is an interdisciplinary science which continues to grow at a rapid pace. Although there is continued interest in synthetic and structural studies the last decade has seen a growing interest in the potential of organometallic chemistry to provide answers to problems in catalysis synthetic organic chemistry and also in the development of new materials. This Specialist Periodical Report aims to reflect these current interests reviewing progress in theoretical organometallic chemistry, main group chemistry, the lanthanides and all aspects of transition metal chemistry. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Book Theoretical and Computational Models for Organic Chemistry

Download or read book Theoretical and Computational Models for Organic Chemistry written by S.J. Formosinho and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume were presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute held in Porto Novo, Portugal, August 26 - September 8, 1990. The Institute has been able to cover a wide spectrum of the Theoretical and Computational Models for organic molecules and organic reactions, ranging from the ab initio to the more empirical approaches, in the tradition established in the previous Institutes at S. Feliu de Guixols (Spain) and Altinoluk (Turkey). The continuity with this work was achieved by inviting half of the lecturers present in those meetings. But other important subjects were also covered at Porto Novo by new lecturers, both from universities and the industry. Molecular Mechanics, Protein Structure and Unidimensional Models were introduced by the first time. The concept of building on the expertise already acquired and available, both in terms of methods and contents, to develop in new directions, was appreciated by participants and lecturers. The Institute first considered the fundamentals of molecular orbital computations and ab initio methods and the construction of Potential Energy Surfaces. These subjects were further explored in several applications related with optimization of equilibrium geometries and transition structures. Practical examples were studied in Tutorial sessions and solved in the computational projects making use of the Gaussian 88 and Gaussian 90 programs. Empirical models can be complementary to the quantum-mechanical ones in equilibrium geometry optimizations.

Book Selected Works in Organic Chemistry

Download or read book Selected Works in Organic Chemistry written by A. N. Nesmeyanov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 1189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selected Works in Organic Chemistry focuses on the processes, methodologies, reactions, and approaches involved in organic chemistry, including analysis of diazo compounds and infrared absorption spectra. The publication first offers information on the method of synthesis of aromatic organomercury salts; method of synthesis of symmetrical aromatic organomercury compounds; and diazo method of synthesis of aromatic organomercury compounds with negative substituent in nucleus. The reaction of aliphatic diazo compounds with mercury salts and synthesis of organotin compounds through diazo compounds are also discussed. The manuscript takes a look at the synthesis of aromatic organometal compounds of bismuth through diazo compounds; synthesis of aromatic germanium compounds through aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborate; and reduction of organomercury compounds by bivalent tin salts as a method of synthesis. The text also examines the activation energy of the disaggregation process of associated alkoxy titanium derivatives and determination of positions of substituents in ferrocene compounds by means of infrared absorption spectra. The publication is a valuable reference for readers interested in organic chemistry.

Book excerpt: Launched in 1995 as a companion to the Dictionary of Organic Compounds, the Organic Chemist’s Desk Reference has been essential reading for laboratory chemists who need a succinct guide to the ‘nuts and bolts’ of organic chemistry — the literature, nomenclature, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, hazard information, and laboratory data. This third edition reflects changes in the dissemination of chemical information, revisions to chemical nomenclature, and the adoption of new techniques in NMR spectroscopy, which have taken place since publication of the last edition in 2011. Organic chemistry embraces many other disciplines — from material sciences to molecular biology — whose practitioners will benefit from the comprehensive but concise information brought together in this book. Extensively revised and updated, this new edition contains the very latest data that chemists need access to for experimentation and research.
