Book excerpt: Your success in applying the synergy approach depends on your ability to implement the process by making it relevant to your organization's circumstances and environment. To achieve this, I recommend that you learn the model well, together with the processes described in the book, and tweak them to your organizational reality. Then, examine what works for you, train your employees and managers to use the Synergy Method and the presented processes, and most of all, be persistent with the method, learn from mistakes, correct them and improve. To do so - I wrote a workbook in which you'll find lined pages for every chapter of the book, where you can pencil in any remarks which reflect the reality you're coping with in your organization. I encourage you to write down as many remarks and ideas as you can while reading the book. From experience, doing so will help you turn the book's knowledge into a useful and beneficial work tool. Your organization too can reach the height of success that today's most popular companies have accomplished. The prosperity of your organization depends on the ability of your people and processes to merge seamlessly to provide customers with optimal benefits in services and products. For this purpose, we have launched this book that entails all the secrets to help you incorporate the concept of synergy in your organization, especially in the time of conflict. This book provides work tools and methods, which enable you to: Turn your company into a leader in its field Link "the stars" to productive teams Manage M&A or any change successfully Improve the customer service experience Enhance satisfaction, engagement, and retention of employees, clients, managers and other shareholders. Reinforce connections between managers and employees Create a link between technological changes, structure, processes and employees Along with the impactful strategies, the best feature of this book is an integrated workbook that allows your theory to turn into practice. There are summary and conclusion pages with each chapter that allow the readers to jot down their own ideas and personal encounters. This bridges the gap between theory and practice and enables the readers to come up with specific solutions to their unique problems. This Workbook can verily turn your business into a leader in its field. It will help you to personally relate and find ways to increase productivity and boost teamwork in your organization. Each section in the Workbook corresponds to the relevant chapter of the book and it is highly encouraged to note as many remarks and ideas during the reading process. Book The Synergy of Business Theory and Practice

Download or read book The Synergy of Business Theory and Practice written by Alkis Thrassou and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-07 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lack of congruence between theory and practice in business remains a widely discussed topic. This lack of synergy is quietly and elusively becoming the Achilles' heel of contemporary scholarly business research and, by extension, of business in general. Focusing on the deviation of means and ends between business theory and practice, this book comprises thirteen chapters, which present an array of theoretical and geographical contexts, and aim to bring scholarly thinking and scientific analysis together with managerial rationale and practical applications. Presenting valuable insights and demonstrating an equalised perception of the theorisation of practice, and reversely, the practicality of theory, this innovative book signifies a new philosophy of scientific work and provides thought-provoking reading for scholars in a range of business sub-disciplines.

Book In Search of Synergy in Small Group Performance

Download or read book In Search of Synergy in Small Group Performance written by James R. Larson, Jr. and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume critically evaluates more than a century of empirical research on the effectiveness of small, task-performing groups, and offers a fresh look at the costs and benefits of collaborative work arrangements. The central question taken up by this book is whether -- and under what conditions -- interaction among group members leads to better performance than would otherwise be achieved simply by combining the separate efforts of an equal number of people who work independently. This question is considered with respect to a range of tasks (idea-generation, problem solving, judgment, and decision-making) and from several different process perspectives (learning and memory, motivation, and member diversity). As a framework for assessing the empirical literature, the book introduces the concept of 'synergy.' Synergy refers to an objective gain in performance that is attributable to group interaction. Further, it distinguishes between weak and strong synergy, which are performance gains of different magnitude. The book highlights the currently available empirical evidence for both weak and strong synergy, identifies the conditions that seem necessary to produce each, and suggests where the search for synergy might best be directed in the future. The book is at once a high-level introduction to the field, a review of the field's history, and a scholarly critique of the current state-of-the-art. As such, it is essential reading for graduate students, advanced undergraduate students, and researchers interested in group dynamics generally -- and small group performance in particular.

Book The Synergy of One

Download or read book The Synergy of One written by Michael J. Dreikorn and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Synergy of One, author Michael Dreikorn argues that the vast majority of errors and system failures are the result of ineffective leadership. Most of the shortcomings of leadership stem from the lack of a unified and structured system throughout their organization. The Synergy of One explains how to create an integrated system that incorporates resources, accountability, culture, understanding, and leadership into one synergistic formula that will help drive consistent success. This synergistic system will help lead to consistency throughout the organization u leader to leader and department to department - which will lead to better communication, greater reliability, and ultimately more success. Dreikorn introduces the concept of Integrated Performance Leadership (IPL), which combines various academic theories of management, performance and leadership into one single stream of thought. By using IPL as described in The Synergy of One, organizational leaders will discover how to more effectively implement change by remaining aware of the big picture and how it affects the entire organization. Dreikorn cites examples from successful organizations, and provides numerous charts and graphs to help emphasize the points being made. Book excerpt: All over the world, there are individuals who want to go to work-who are excited to go in on Mondays. They love their jobs because the environment they work in is free of fear and emotional toxicity; and they are unimpeded and able to focus on their work. They do their part to help achieve organizational goals. I work with people like this everyday, and I help them create the kind of workplace they have always wanted-one that delivers a sense of belonging, personal satisfaction, and job enrichment. I make this happen by working with business leaders who know that businesses and organizations are only as good as the people in them, and they recognize the importance of winning the hearts and minds of their people. I build high-performance teams: in businesses, government agencies, churches, non-profits, and even families. I have witnessed astounding personal, financial, and organizational growth accelerate when the environment is free of fear and supercharged with Synergy Team Power. This book is for all employees-from entry level all the way up to the executive suite-who are looking for a way to create a meaningful workplace that delivers continuous job satisfaction. It demonstrates that adopting the value of teamwork and service, along with the importance of treating fellow workers with courtesy and respect-as one does with a customer-makes all the difference. You will find helpful stories, examples, anecdotes, and checklists that have grown out of many years of building and working with high-performance business teams. These stories are about real people who have found a way to create satisfying, fun jobs, and at the same time, build safe, secure, and highly-profitable work environments. There are 5 Synergy Team Power success habits: Building Trust Right Mental Attitude (R.M.A.) Make It Fun Be a "First-Giver" Be a Synergist Within each of the success habit chapters, I have sprinkled humorous and relevant examples, quotes, and anecdotes to make your reading experience pleasurable and meaningful. My vision is that you will find a special message that resonates with you on a personal and professional level, and that it helps you recognize the important role you and all of us play in creating emotionally secure, profitable work environments. My larger vision is that as more and more of us recognize the value of Synergy and its profound benefits, we will work together to expand its application to build stronger families, better schools, profitable businesses, safe cities, and peaceful nations.

Book excerpt: Synergy discusses a general problem in biology: The lack of an adequate language for formulating biologically specific problems. Written for an inquisitive reader who is not necessarily a professional in the area of movement studies, this book describes the recent progress in the control and coordination of human movement. The book begins with a brief history of movement studies and reviews the current central controversies in the area of control of movements with an emphasis on the equilibrium-point hypothesis. An operational definition of synergy is introduced and a method of analysis of synergies is described based on the uncontrolled manifold hypothesis. Further this method is used to characterize synergies in a variety of tasks including such common motor tasks as standing, pointing, reaching, standing-up, and manipulation of hand-held objects. Applications of this method to movements by persons with neurological disorders, persons with atypical development and healthy elderly persons are illustrated, as well as changes in motor synergies with practice. Possible neurophysiological mechanisms of synergies are also discussed with the focus on such conspicuous structures as the spinal cord, the cerebellum, the basal ganglia, and the cortex of the large hemispheres. A variety of models are discussed based on different computational and neurophysiological principles. Possible applications of the introduced definition of synergies to other areas such as perception and language are discussed.

Book The Synergy Solution

Download or read book The Synergy Solution written by Mark Sirower and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2022-03-15 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new M&A bible. Few actions can change the value of a company—and its competitive future—as quickly and dramatically as an acquisition. Yet most companies fail to create shareholder value from these deals, and in many cases they destroy it. It doesn't have to be this way. In The Synergy Solution, Deloitte's Mark Sirower and Jeff Weirens show acquirers how to develop and execute an M&A strategy—end to end—that not only avoids the pitfalls that so many companies fall into but also creates real, long-term shareholder value. This strategy includes how to: Become a prepared "always on" acquirer Test the investment thesis and DCF valuation of a deal Plan for a successful Announcement Day, and properly communicate synergy promises to investors and other stakeholders Realize those promised synergies through integration planning and post-close execution Manage change and build a new, combined organization Sirower and Weirens provide invaluable background to those considering M&A, laying out the issues they have to consider, how to analyze them, and how to plan and execute the deal effectively. They also show those who have already started the process of M&A how to maximize their chances of success. There's an art and a science to getting mergers and acquisitions right, and this powerful book provides the insights and strategies acquirers need to find success at every stage of an often complex and perilous process.

Book Synergy Value and Strategic Management

Download or read book Synergy Value and Strategic Management written by Stefano Garzella and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-29 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses synergy management, which poses an important challenge for firms, advisors and practitioners involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Synergy plays a key role in M&A contexts, both in the decision-making process and, subsequently, in the integration phase. However, despite the fact that synergy value is commonly regarded as one of the key success factors in M&A, research shows that firms generally fail to achieve the expected synergy. The extant literature is characterized by a lack of comprehensive models of synergy management: the assessment of synergy value remains a “black box” for scholars and practitioners alike. The authors provide a comprehensive framework for synergy management by integrating findings from prior research and various disciplines. The framework highlights the main dimensions of synergy management in mergers and acquisitions, common pitfalls, and new models and tools for avoiding them. As such, the book enriches the M&A literature, offers new insights for scholars, and provides valuable guidelines for practitioners involved in synergy management.
