Book Perceived Organizational Support

Download or read book Perceived Organizational Support written by Robert Eisenberger and published by American Psychological Association (APA). This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's constantly changing work environment is fraught with job uncertainty, frequent mergers and acquisitions, and a general breakdown of trust between employer and employee. More than ever, it is critical for managers to proactively shift away from devaluing employees as marginal capital to empowering them as human capital. Perceived organizational support-employees' perception of how much an organization values their contribution and cares about their well-being-mutually benefits both employees and their organizations and is integral to sustainable employer–employee relationships. Using organizational support theory and evidence gathered from hundreds of studies, Eisenberger and Stinglhamber demonstrate how perceived organizational support affects employees' well-being, the positivity of their orientation toward the organization and work, and behavioral outcomes favorable to the organization. The authors illustrate these findings with employee experiences and strategic approaches of major organizations such as Southwest Airlines, Wal-Mart, Costco, and Google. Organizational psychologists, management consultants, managers, and graduate students will obtain a clear understanding of perceived organizational support and the practical knowledge needed to foster its development and positive outcomes.

Book Conflict and Leadership

Download or read book Conflict and Leadership written by Christian Muntean and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2018-04-04 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conflict is one of the greatest sources of tolerated business expenses and loss. This is despite the fact that this expense and loss can, in most cases, be easily turned around to revenue and gain. In the nonprofit world one of the greatest inhibitors of mission success is not that there isn’t enough funding, or the challenging nature of the cause. It is the simple fact that teams struggle to work well together. What if conflict was the starting point for developing trust? What if it catalyzed a deeper, more meaningful understanding between team members? What if it was crucial for building stronger and more powerful organizations? Last of all, what if there were simple steps you could take to automatically help your teams communicate and work together more easily? This book shows you how.

Book Managing Conflict with Your Boss

Download or read book Managing Conflict with Your Boss written by Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-08-26 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As individuals, we can be creative and ambitious in our personal lives and in our professional lives. But individual efforts can’t always match the energy and productivity of a group. Cultures, societies, clubs, schools, and militaries arose out of our need to band together for mutual support. Organizations were created to deal more effectively with the environment—both the natural world and the world of work. But there is a trade-off when we move from individual contributions to group efforts: the relationships necessary for working together can spawn conflict. In organizations, tensions between individuals need to be defused, or focused in order to find productive solutions to problems. This is especially critical when conflict arises between people at different levels in the organization, such as when you are having a conflict with your boss. These tensions aren’t easy to handle. Conflict can generate discomfort, anger, and ineffective behavior. Feelings such as fear and resentment can rise to the surface. Organizational issues such as unclear lines of authority, power, politics, and ineffective support systems also come into play. Although these internal and external factors create a rich and complicated landscape for conflict to flourish, a conflict with your boss doesn’t necessarily spell the end of your career with an organization. There are steps you can take to gain perspective on conflict and to manage the conflict so that it focuses your energy and your boss’s energy on the needs of the organization, moving both of you toward a more productive working relationship.

Book excerpt: Adopting curriculum vitae (CV) analysis method, this book collects CVs of university faculty from 109 universities of "The Double First Class University Plan" in China, and systematically analyses the mobility pattern of faculty in China for the first time. Examining the overall mobility frequency of Chinese faculty and its growing rate, the authors predict that after the epidemic, with the growing number of returned overseas talents, there may be a third wave of faculty mobility. They demonstrate that East Asia, the United States and Europe are the main channels for the inward talent mobility to China, and there are significant differences in China’s faculty mobility among different regions, disciplines and genders, which deserves further investigation. Furthermore, they argue the influencing factors of faculty mobility between China and foreign countries are highly different too. Scholars and students of Chinese higher education, international and comparative education may find this book helpful, and benefit from the analysis framework of Push and Pull Theory as long as CV analysis method.
