Book Organization Excellence Productivity and Improvement A Simple Approach

Download or read book Organization Excellence Productivity and Improvement A Simple Approach written by David Kong and published by David Kong. This book was released on 2014-07-13 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout my years of productivity and IT consultancy with implementation, I have encountered numerous challenges faced by organization to implement an efficient and effective system that works for them. When such challenges are not handled properly, it resulted in implementations which are not optimized to the organization business requirement. I would like to provide some useful information, which can help organizations to implement productivity and improvement activities into their daily operations. There are many factors that can affect productivity of an organization. As it is not possible for me to cover every tool which can help to improve productivity, I have decided to concentrate on some of the key ones here. I will be touching on plant layouts, proper quality frameworks and management system for the discussion in this book. An organization with an optimized system in place, can contribute to good output performance. It increases the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization. Internal controls should be installed to ensure that products at every stage of the process are being checked for conformance. Enforcement of the compliance to the procedures and internal controls that were implemented should also be available to ensure that the defined goals and objectives are met. A good organization should stress on training for staff. Such training should be structured in a way that it is geared towards equipping staff with the relevant skill sets and knowledge to perform their job. Job skill matrix table could be put up to develop staff further and also serve as a tool for resource planning. I cannot stress enough the importance of how a good proper strategic planning and implementation can contribute greatly to the success of an organization performance. Due to this, I have also included Business Continuity Planning as one of the criteria for organization excellence. With the occurrence of natural disaster, haze, pandemic flu episode and any unexpected happening, it warrants some form of planning to prepare the organization to systematically react in the event such occurrence is to happen. As a value added service, I have included a few Excel templates for some of the tools cover in this book in the website: http://pqi.dscloud.biz. You will need to be a registered user in order to gain access to them. They are listed as follows: - Fish Bone Diagram using Excel - Moving Average using Excel - Correlation using Excel - Covariance using Excel - Percentile using Excel - Pareto Chart using Excel - Solver using Excel - Goal Seek using Excel

Book Standardized Work with TWI

Download or read book Standardized Work with TWI written by Bartosz Misiurek and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-03-30 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Standardized Work with TWI: Eliminating Human Errors in Production and Service Processes presents the Training within Industry (TWI) program and describes how it can influence and alter one’s understanding of work standardization. Work standardization is the key to eliminating human errors from manufacturing and service processes. Work standardization is not just the creation of job instructions—it is a comprehensive approach in which employees are formally trained and their skills in the area of work improvement are developed by kaizen sessions. With poor instructions, though, the effectiveness of these two key activities in the work standardization process is practically impossible to achieve. The book introduces you to 41 rules for standard work instruction (SWI) preparation. Following these rules will ensure that the instructions in your company are ideally suited to train operators and improve work. The author developed these rules based on his professional experience and practice within the TWI program in more than 120 manufacturing and service enterprises, while creating thousands of SWIs. These rules are a clear set of signposts that will help you develop a correct SWI on the first attempt without any unnecessary correction of errors. The quality of SWIs significantly affects how on-the-job training sessions are run, as well as how work analysis with respect to improvement is conducted.

This book was released on 2013-10-07 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook is a comprehensive reference source designed to help professionals address organizational issues from the application of the basic principles of management to the development of strategies needed to deal with the technological and societal concerns of the new millennium. The content of this fourth edition has been revised to reflect a more current global perspective and to match the updated Body of Knowledge (BoK) of ASQ’s Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE). In order to provide a broad perspective of quality management, this book has specifically been written to address: • Historical perspectives relating to the evolution of particular aspects of quality management, including recognized experts and their contributions • Key principles, concepts, and terminology relevant in providing quality leadership, and communicating quality needs and results • Benefits associated with the application of key concepts and quality management principles • Best practices describing recognized approaches for good quality management • Barriers to success, including common problems that the quality manager might experience when designing and implementing quality management, and insights as to why some quality initiatives fail • Guidance for preparation to take the CMQ/OE examination. Organized to follow the BoK exactly, throughout each section of this handbook the categorical BoK requirements associated with good quality management practices for that section are shown in a box preceding the pertinent text. These BoK requirements represent the range of content and the cognitive level to which multiple-choice questions can be presented. Although this handbook thoroughly prepares individuals for the ASQ CMQ/OE exam, the real value resides in post-exam usage as a day-to-day reference source for assessing quality applications and methodologies in daily processes. The content is written from the perspective of practitioners, and its relevance extends beyond traditional product quality applications.

Book Succeed with Productivity and Quality

Download or read book Succeed with Productivity and Quality written by Imre Bernolak and published by Quality Press. This book was released on 2009-03-13 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the culmination of inter-firm comparisons done by the author of more than 4,000 companies in over 100 different industries. These productivity analyses and comparisons all show that virtually every organization, even the best, can learn from their competitors and counterparts, as well as from self-analysis, about how to achieve more and better through improved organization and utilization of their resources. Part I explains what productivity is and why it’s so important. Part II describes how productivity problems and opportunities can be identified through measurement and systematic analysis. While this is not a statistical textbook, it explains through simple and practical solutions how one can benefit from relevant measurement. Part III outlines how each individual person can improve their productivity and become significantly more efficient and effective. Part IV reviews how productivity can be enhanced through better planning, organization, use of time, knowledge, technology and resources. This basic and comprehensive book is intended for entrepreneurs, managers of local branches of large corporations, such as banks, business chains, as well as managers or aspiring managers in other private or public organizations. It is essential reading for students of business administration, economics, as well as managerial practices, and fills a hole in the training of students in all fields where they will manage people and resources. Professionals, other knowledge workers and technical people also benefit because their professional training usually concentrates on their specific expertise and not productivity improvement. Over the years it has become clear that even managers of the best organizations can benefit by learning from the experience of others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UNDERSTANDING AND MANAGING PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS, FIFTH EDITION “This is the definitive place for all serious students of public administration to start. It is the most comprehensive book in the field. It is required reading for MPA students, Ph.D. students, and all scholars in the field.” —Kenneth J. Meier, Charles H. Gregory Chair in Liberal Arts, Texas A&M University “This is the bible for public management scholarship. It is the first place to turn when looking for an accessible but rigorous analysis of research on basic aspects of organizational life in the public sector, such as how culture, leadership, and motivation matter. The interdisciplinary array of research on public management has become so voluminous as to seem overwhelming at times. Rainey’s extraordinary curatorial prowess allows him to turn these fragments of work into a coherent and insightful body of knowledge. Anyone interested in how research can inform governance should start with this book.” —Donald Moynihan, professor of public affairs, Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs, University of Wisconsin—Madison “This is the Encyclopedia Britannica of public management; if you want to find out what has been written, and what is collectively said about the practice and theory of public management, look no further than Rainey’s updated and comprehensive fifth edition.” —Richard M. Walker, chair professor of public management and associate dean, City University of Hong Kong “For more than a decade, Rainey’s book has been a must-read for everyone in the community of public management in Korea, just like in many places all over the world. Undoubtedly, it provides a valuable resource for researchers and students who are interested in public management and applications of organization theory to public organizations. It is quite simply the best investigation of public organization and management that I’ve read.” —Young Han Chun, associate dean, Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University
