Book Ore Deposits Tectonics and Metallogeny in the Canadian Cordillera

Download or read book Ore Deposits Tectonics and Metallogeny in the Canadian Cordillera written by W. J. McMillan and published by Province of British Columbia, Mineral Resources Division. This book was released on 1991 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report provides a tectonic and mineral deposit overview, then discusses deposits in North American rocks, followed by deposits formed in accreted and suspect' terrains; deposits formed at or near the sea floor or from hot springs; and those formed in successively deeper zones as magmatic deposits, vein to replacement deposits, skarns, and porphyries. Deposits within and directly linked to intrusive rocks (magmatic, porphyries, skarns), replacement deposits, possible manto deposits, deep to shallow veins and related deposits formed at the surface, volcanogenic massive sulphides and sedex deposits are then discussed. Sedimentary-hosted deposits of gypsum, barite, phosphate and other industrial minerals are not covered, nor are coal, uranium, pegmatite-hosted deposits, molybdenum prophyries or some of the less common deposit types such as carbonatites, tin greisens, and placers.

Book The Cordilleran Miogeosyncline in North America

Download or read book The Cordilleran Miogeosyncline in North America written by Henry V. Lyatsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steep crustal-scale faults, having their origins in the Late Archean and Early Proterozoic and trending NE-SW, which define the fundamental block lithospheric structure of the North American craton, are seen from geological and geophysical evidence to continue far into the interior of the Late Proterozoic-Phanerozoic Canadian Cordilleran mobile megabelt. This suggests that variously reworked ex-cratonic basement blocks underlie much of the Cordillera. The western edge of the modern craton is probably near the Rocky Mountain-Omineca belt boundary; the Rocky Mountain fold-and-thrust belt on the east side of the Cordillera is evidently rootless and overlies the undisturbed cratonic basement. Phanerozoic differences between the Cordilleran tectonic belts, resulting from a long, dissimilar, multi-cycle history of waxing and waning orogenesis apparent from the rock record, lie chiefly in the degree of indigenous tectonic remobilization and reworking of the ancient crust.

Book Tectonics Metallogeny and Discovery

Download or read book Tectonics Metallogeny and Discovery written by Maurice Colpron and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This summary report commences with a brief metallogenic overview of the northern Pacific Rim, with particular attention paid to the world-class Mesozoic and Cenozoic ore deposits that define the region's premier metallogenic provinces. This is followed by a summary of the relative attractiveness of the region's various mining jurisdictions, as recorded by recent exploration activity.

Book Principles of Practical Tectonic Analysis of Cratonic Regions

Download or read book Principles of Practical Tectonic Analysis of Cratonic Regions written by Henry Lyatsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 487 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steep crystalline-basement faults, commonly indicated by potential-field anomalies, played a crucial role in evolution of continental cratonic platforms. In the Phanerozoic Western Canada Sedimentary Province, history of crustal block movements and warps is reconstructed from the distribution of depocenters, lithofacies and structures in structural-formational étages in sedimentary cover. Each étage is a rock succession formed during a particular tectonic stage; regional tectonic restructuring closes each stage, and the next stage represents a new tectonic regime. Practical tectonic analysis, based on observation of rocks and geophysical data, is a reliable guide for deciphering a region's geologic history and for resource exploration.

Book Drift Exploration in Glaciated Terrain

Download or read book Drift Exploration in Glaciated Terrain written by Geological Society of London and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2001 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume describes the use of till geochemical and indicator mineral methods for mineral exploration in the glaciated terrain of Canada. The principles and examples described in this volume will have direct applications for exploration companies looking for diamonds, precious and base metals and uranium in glaciated parts of North America, northern Europe and Asia and mountainous regions of South America.

Book Continental Crust Structures on the Continental Margin of Western North America

Download or read book Continental Crust Structures on the Continental Margin of Western North America written by Henry V. Lyatsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NE Pacific Ocean is considered the birthplace of many fundamental ideas for modern plate tectonics theory. In this book the orogenic belts of this region are discussed in a single, internally consistent tectonic concept. Geological information is considered the most reliable. Geophysical models are tested for compatibility with observable geological data. The new concept avoids force-fitting interpretations to preconceived assumptions regarding accreted far-traveled terranes in the Cordillera and continental-oceanic plate interactions in the entire region.

Book Geomicrobiology and Biogeochemistry of Precious Metals

Download or read book Geomicrobiology and Biogeochemistry of Precious Metals written by Frank Reith and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2018-11-08 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precious metals continue to have economic and sociocultural importance, as their usage evolves and diversifies over time. Today, the industrial application of precious metals is increasing with the development of scientific and technological innovations. Especially, the biological cycling of these metals is receiving more and more attention, as the microbiota may be key to a range of issues regarding exploration, ore-processing and metallurgy, and the processing of electron waste. In this volume, we focus on enhancing the fundamental understanding of the biological processes that drive noble metal cycling and examine how this knowledge may be turned into biotechnolical applications.

Book Metal Deposits in Relation to Plate Tectonics

Download or read book Metal Deposits in Relation to Plate Tectonics written by Frederick J. Sawkins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 677 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book metal deposits, in particular those of non-ferrous and precious metals, are classified and analyzed in terms of their plate tectonic settings. This approach allows a meaningful treatment of metal deposits of different types and provides significant insights into both their genesis and formative environments. The updated 2nd edition incorporates the most significant advances in economic geology of the last 5 years. Particular attention is paid to the geological settings and generative models of gold deposits of all kinds.
