Book Order of Nehor the Brotherhood

Download or read book Order of Nehor the Brotherhood written by S.J. Kootz and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2018-04-30 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The time is 82 BCE during the rise of a remarkably sophisticated civilization in Mesoamerica. Here, exacting mathematicians, expert astronomers, and, most significantly, the distinguished priesthood elite influenced the building of magnificent ornate cities and complex governance. Raasah, the daughter of a powerful Nephite pochtecatl and a renowned high priestess, was a proud educated youth, nearing her age of maturity, living a privileged pampered life. Then, in one horrific night of carnage, her life would change forever. Miraculously spared from a vicious attack on her fathers caravan, Raasah desperately longs to understand why she alone survived. In her search for answers, she becomes increasingly aware of the suffering and injustice around her finding herself immersed in the growing evil that has permeated the very fabric of her beloved city of Ammonihah. With deep pride, she also learns of the valuable role her fathers Brotherhood regimen played in keeping Ammonihahites safe. Amid covert combinations of intrigue and tyranny, Raasah finds solace and aid from three unlikely comrades an unconventional healer, a pious carpenter, and a forlorn orphan. Together with the Brotherhood, they slowly uncover clues of who may be behind the murder of not just Raasahs father but of the murders and disappearances of so many other honourable citizens. As their queries progress, though, the priestcraft values and beliefs that have been engrained in Raasah are direly tested and become disturbingly dubitable! Order of Nehor & the Brotherhood shares a fascinating tale of greed and betrayal, as a lone massacre survivor discovers a devastating truth that both saves and condemns her. (Kootzs) research into the architecture, customs etc. drew me right into that era of time with a desire to learn more about the culture of these people. The flow of (Kootzs) story, the intrigue and political corruption draws the reader smoothly from chapter to chapter and is hard to put down. ending as well was excellent and encourages the reader to delve into book 2. I hope this trilogy flies off the shelves. Dorothy Sera, Master Librarian, MLIS

Book The Testimony of Two Nations

Download or read book The Testimony of Two Nations written by Michael Austin and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2024-01-02 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the Book of Mormon on its own terms and through its two-way connection with the Bible Like the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Bible, the Book of Mormon uses narratives to develop ideas and present instruction. Michael Austin reveals how the Book of Mormon connects itself to narratives in the Christian Bible with many of the same tools that the New Testament used to connect itself to the Hebrew Bible to create the Christian Bible. As Austin shows, the canonical context for interpreting the Book of Mormon includes the Christian Bible, the Book of Mormon itself, and other writings and revelations that hold scriptural status in most Restoration denominations. Austin pays particular attention to how the Book of Mormon connects itself to the Christian Bible both to form a new canon and to use the canonical relationship to reframe and reinterpret biblical narratives. This canonical context provides an important and fruitful method for interpreting the Book of Mormon.

Book excerpt: The Purpose of this two volume series is to make easily available selections from lectures transcribed and published in four volumes as Teachings of the Book of Mormon by Hugh W. These references will be helpful to students and teachers of the Book of Mormon. The numbers at the beginning of each paragraph refer to the page number of the First Edition of each of the four volumes and will alert the reader to where omissions may be found in the original four volumes. Book excerpt: Even a fortune forged in railroads and steel can't buy entrance into the upper echelons of Victorian high society--for that you need a marriage of convenience. American heiress August Crenshaw has aspirations. But unlike her peers, it isn't some stuffy British Lord she wants wrapped around her finger--it's Crenshaw Iron Works, the family business. When it's clear that August's outrageously progressive ways render her unsuitable for a respectable match, her parents offer up her younger sister to the highest entitled bidder instead. This simply will not do. August refuses to leave her sister to the mercy of a loveless marriage. Evan Sterling, the Duke of Rothschild, has no intention of walking away from the marriage. He's recently inherited the title only to find his coffers empty, and with countless lives depending on him, he can't walk away from the fortune a Crenshaw heiress would bring him. But after meeting her fiery sister, he realizes Violet isn't the heiress he wants. He wants August, and he always gets what he wants. But August won't go peacefully to her fate. She decides to show Rothschild that she's no typical London wallflower. Little does she realize that every stunt she pulls to make him call off the wedding only makes him like her even more.

Book The Feminine Face of Christianity

Download or read book The Feminine Face of Christianity written by Margaret Starbird and published by Quest Books. This book was released on 2003 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Even though feminine values have always been at the core of Christianity, its long history has often ignored or marginalized women’s key role in it. Margaret Starbird’s unique view from the feminine perspective serves the need many are feeling to search their traditional faith for fresh meaning and inspiration in these difficult times. Could Mary Magdalene have been Jesus’ wife? Starbird explores this possibility and the “sister-brides” who accompanied male disciples to forge a new understanding of gender-based faith and of sacred marriage with the Divine. She also gives us the rich heritage of stories about women’s generous service and encouragement for the inner journey, ranging all the way from little-known early saints to Mother Theresa. She points out that fundamental Christian values such as compassion, reconciliation, and the healing of crippled bodies and broken hearts are all strongly feminine in nature. Her view, though, is cooperative rather than contentious: She aims, not to discredit the masculine, but to right the missing gender balance she finds inherent in the faith. Book Satan s War on Free Agency

Download or read book Satan s War on Free Agency written by Greg Wright and published by Granite Pub & Distribution. This book was released on 2009 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The war in Heaven was not about force! Satan's plan threatened accountability by offering a "do as you please" program without penalty. This book explains how both ancient and modern Gadiantons have used this "freedom plan" to get elected. It also shows how parents unknowingly use this plan when they adopt the many "love without law" programs taught by the philosophies of men. This book exposes Satan's popular deceptions by helping readers understand the difference between choice, freedom and agency.
