Download or read book ECG Signal Processing Classification and Interpretation written by Adam Gacek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-18 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book shows how the various paradigms of computational intelligence, employed either singly or in combination, can produce an effective structure for obtaining often vital information from ECG signals. The text is self-contained, addressing concepts, methodology, algorithms, and case studies and applications, providing the reader with the necessary background augmented with step-by-step explanation of the more advanced concepts. It is structured in three parts: Part I covers the fundamental ideas of computational intelligence together with the relevant principles of data acquisition, morphology and use in diagnosis; Part II deals with techniques and models of computational intelligence that are suitable for signal processing; and Part III details ECG system-diagnostic interpretation and knowledge acquisition architectures. Illustrative material includes: brief numerical experiments; detailed schemes, exercises and more advanced problems.

Download or read book Biomedical Signal Processing written by Arnon Cohen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-07-17 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1986: The presentation of the material in the book follows the flow of events of the general signal processing system. After the signal has been acquired, some manipulations are applied in order to enhance the relevant information present in the signal. Simple, Optimal, and adaptive filtering are examples of such manipulations. The detection of wavelets is of importance in biomedical signals; they can be detected from the enhanced signal by several methods. The signal very often contains redundancies. When effective storing, transmission, or automatic classification are required, these redundancies have to be extracted.

Book excerpt: Developments and Applications for ECG Signal Processing: Modeling, Segmentation, and Pattern Recognition covers reliable techniques for ECG signal processing and their potential to significantly increase the applicability of ECG use in diagnosis. This book details a wide range of challenges in the processes of acquisition, preprocessing, segmentation, mathematical modelling and pattern recognition in ECG signals, presenting practical and robust solutions based on digital signal processing techniques. Users will find this to be a comprehensive resource that contributes to research on the automatic analysis of ECG signals and extends resources relating to rapid and accurate diagnoses, particularly for long-term signals. Chapters cover classical and modern features surrounding f ECG signals, ECG signal acquisition systems, techniques for noise suppression for ECG signal processing, a delineation of the QRS complex, mathematical modelling of T- and P-waves, and the automatic classification of heartbeats. - Gives comprehensive coverage of ECG signal processing - Presents development and parametrization techniques for ECG signal acquisition systems - Analyzes and compares distortions caused by different digital filtering techniques for noise suppression applied over the ECG signal - Describes how to identify if a digitized ECG signal presents irreversible distortion through analysis of its frequency components prior to, and after, filtering - Considers how to enhance QRS complexes and differentiate these from artefacts, noise, and other characteristic waves under different scenarios
Download or read book Ambulatory Monitoring written by C. Marchesi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jlmbulatory monitoring of signals, related to cardiovascular system per formances, is one of the biomedical technologies of wider interest. This interest is well documented by the literature, by the number of instruments available on the market and by the increasing diffusioo of this technique at routine clinical level. The wide distribution of ambulatory monitoring is however not yet well supported by commonly accepted criteria of clinical interpretation, by an assessment of the minimal requirements for instrumentation performances, or by indications of costjbenefit figures in relation to different situations. Several European centres have a recognized expertise and are well suited to the examinatioo of the problem of defining comnon guidelines and of making recommendations so as to stimulate an improvement of the clinical usage and of the performance of the instrumentation. The Biomedical Engineering Standing Group of the Committee for Medical and Public Health Research approved the organization of this \\Orksrop which had as its aims the assessment of the state-of-the-art of different aspects of ant>ulatory monitoring and the discussion within a group of experts of the feasibility and interest in promoting the coordination in Europe of these activities in the frame\\Ork of a "concerted action". The \\Orkshop was held in Pisa over two full days (April 11-12, 1983). The participants were physicians and engineers, experts in their fields.

Download or read book Medical Informatics Europe 81 written by F. Gremy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 999 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The European Federation for Medical Informatics has established itself as a regional body coordinating activity in medical informatics. The Congress in Toulouse, MIE-81, from 9 - 13 March 1981, is the third congress in the ser ies following MIE-78 in Cambr idge, and MIB-79 in Berlin with a gap during 1980 for the world congress MEDINFO-80 in Tokyo. The rationale behind all these congresses is the scientific need to share results and ideas and the educational need to train a wide variety of professional staff in the potential of health care and medical informatics. All the caring professions are involved, doctors, scientists, nurses, para-medical staff, administrators, health care planners, community physicians, epidemiologists, statisticians, operations analysts together with specialists from the computing profession dealing with system analysis, hardware, software, languages, data-bases and the marketing of systems. Medical Informatics is a very wide subject with ramifications throughout the health care and preventive services; it offers a key to the monitoring and improvement of patient care and to the provision of a healthier environment. The collection and evaluation of relevant data improves our understanding of the ways in which health care is provided while the availability of cheaper computer hardware and more versatile software enables us to design and implement more revealing and intelligent medical systems. Even though typical systems take a substantial amount of time to design, implement and evaluate, there is the continuing need for informaticians to assess the current state of developmen.

This book was released on 2024-09-22 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer-aided decision-making supports clinical decision-making (CAD). Arrhythmia classification is a related topic that uses machine learning algorithms to help categorize various forms of arrhythmia. By putting these machine learning approaches into practice, we can prevent or at least lessen problems like incorrect diagnosis, human error, and incompetent medical practitioners. Since these computer-assisted decision-making systems were created using machine learning approaches, long-term clinical monitoring using them is typically favoured.
