Book Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook

Download or read book Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook written by Meherwan P. Boyce and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 956 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook has been the standard for engineers involved in the design, selection, and operation of gas turbines. This revision includes new case histories, the latest techniques, and new designs to comply with recently passed legislation. By keeping the book up to date with new, emerging topics, Boyce ensures that this book will remain the standard and most widely used book in this field. The new Third Edition of the Gas Turbine Engineering Hand Book updates the book to cover the new generation of Advanced gas Turbines. It examines the benefit and some of the major problems that have been encountered by these new turbines. The book keeps abreast of the environmental changes and the industries answer to these new regulations. A new chapter on case histories has been added to enable the engineer in the field to keep abreast of problems that are being encountered and the solutions that have resulted in solving them. - Comprehensive treatment of Gas Turbines from Design to Operation and Maintenance. In depth treatment of Compressors with emphasis on surge, rotating stall, and choke; Combustors with emphasis on Dry Low NOx Combustors; and Turbines with emphasis on Metallurgy and new cooling schemes. An excellent introductory book for the student and field engineers - A special maintenance section dealing with the advanced gas turbines, and special diagnostic charts have been provided that will enable the reader to troubleshoot problems he encounters in the field - The third edition consists of many Case Histories of Gas Turbine problems. This should enable the field engineer to avoid some of these same generic problems

Book Test Evaluation of Stationary and Rotating Diffusers for a High Pressure Ratio Radial Compressor

Download or read book Test Evaluation of Stationary and Rotating Diffusers for a High Pressure Ratio Radial Compressor written by Colin Rodgers and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of a free rotating vaneless/vaned diffuser (F.R.D.) for a nominal 1.9 pps, high pressure ratio, single stage radial compressor was completed, together with a comparative conventional stationary vaneless/vaned optimum channel diffuser. Both types of diffuser were subsequently fabricated and individually installed in an existing turbodrive compressor rig for comparative performance evaluation. At 100% corrected design impeller speed, equal to 62,000 rpm, the peak pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency for the stationary and F.R.D. systems were 7.91 and 72.6% compared to 7.43 and 70%, respectively. Impeller efficiency was not repeatable and reduced 3.8% at design speed with the F.R.D. installed, probably as a result of different radial clearance settings. Overall peak vaneless/vaned diffuser static pressure recovery was essentially the same (0.61) at design speed with either the stationary or F.R.D. systems. (Author).

Book Optimisation of a Transonic Flow Radial Vaned Diffuser

Download or read book Optimisation of a Transonic Flow Radial Vaned Diffuser written by Salvatore Colantuoni and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transonic flow in an existing radial vaned diffuser has been analysed with a time dependent finite area calculation method. The calculated Mach number distribution indicates a strong bow shock upstream of the throat. Based on this experience, new diffusers have been designed in order to optimize the Mach number distribution in the semi-vaneless space by designing for a shock free deceleration. The best predictions are obtained with a modified version of the design method of Herbert and Came in which a radial change of diffuser width is incorporated. Experimental results obtained with this optimised design show an important increase in range and confirm the shock-free deceleration of the flow. The difference between the calculated and measured pressure distribution can be explained by incidence effects due to an incorrect estimation of the boundary layer the real flow conditions at the diffuser inlet becomes available.

Book Use of Short Flat Vanes for Producing Efficient Wide angle Two dimensional Subsonic Diffusers

Download or read book Use of Short Flat Vanes for Producing Efficient Wide angle Two dimensional Subsonic Diffusers written by Stanford University. Thermosciences Division. Thermosciences Division and published by . This book was released on 1957 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of the use of flat vanes in two-dimensional subsonic diffusers was made. Using optimum designs of vane installations, high pressure recoveries and steady flows were obtained for diffuser-wall divergence angles up to 42 degrees. Criteria for optimum configurations were developed which indicated that the vanes should be symmetrically arranged in the vicinity of the diffuser throat, that the vane-passage divergence angle should be approximately 7.0 degrees, and that the vanes should have a certain predictable length dependent upon the diffuser geometry.
