This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For both public and private managers, the book Optimization Methods for a Stakeholder Society is today's key to answer the problem of a sustainable development world. This world has to take into account the meaning of all stakeholders involved and has to reconcile a number of objectives, such as economic growth, employment and preservation of the ecosystem. Traditional methods, such as cost-benefit, are outmoded as they translate all these objectives into monetary costs, a materialistic approach. On the contrary, objectives have rather to stick to their own units, eventually indicators.

Download or read book Optimization of the sustainability of contingency logistics networks application of a hybrid heuristic a multiobjective optimization approaches written by Havva Esra Dağ and published by Hiperlink eğit.ilet.yay.san.tic.ve ltd.sti.. This book was released on 2019-02-15 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contingencies are unexpected crises or events that cause a major threat to the safety, security and well-being of a certain population. This research effort builds upon the work on contingency logistics reliability models by Miman (2008) who extended the preliminary work conducted by Thomas (2004) that provides the modeling approach which takes a mission success orientation and focuses on the ability to recover from or prevent a contingency logistics failure. Miman (2008) proposes the sustainability model of a contingency logistics network using the concept of selective maintenance. This problem, once formulated, is a non-convex, non-linear, non-separable, multi-dimensional, discrete knapsack problem. These problems are known to be NP hard. Therefore, one needs to explore heuristic solutions in search of robust and effective solution approaches. He developed a memetic algorithm, GAFTS, and proposed this for identifying the best set of maintenance actions to sustain the contingency logistics network. Besides, he used Physical Programming, a multi criteria optimization procedure, to exploit a network manager’s preference toward the numerous criteria (reliability, cost, time, resource utilization etc...) judiciously. This research effort continues the exploration of heuristic techniques for the sustainability model developed by Miman (2008) and develops a hybrid heuristics technique, EDGASA, incooperating simulating annealing (SA) procedure with genetic algorithm (GA). Comparisons of EDGASA with GA and SA reveal that it outperforms in terms of average reliability, best reliability and worst reliability found at an expense of increased solution time. One of the contributions of this study is a multi-objective modeling approach developed based on utopia distance that aims at minimizing the weighted distance between a solution to the ideal point that could be achieved. The study fills some of the voids in the contingency logistics networks’ solution and modeling and highlights potential studies by applying the hybrid heuristic developed as well as multiobjective modeling approach proposed to other problems.
Download or read book New Methods and Applications in Multiple Attribute Decision Making MADM written by Alireza Alinezhad and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-08-23 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents 27 methods of the Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM), which are not discussed in the existing books, nor studied in details, using more applications. Nowadays, decision making is one of the most important and fundamental tasks of management as an organizational goal achievement that depends on its quality. Decision making includes the correct expression of objectives, determining different and possible solutions, evaluating their feasibility, assessing the consequences, and the results of implementing each solution, and finally, selecting and implementing the solution. Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is sum of the decision making techniques. MCDM is divided into the Multiple Objective Decision Making (MODM) for designing the best solution and MADM for selecting the best alternative. Given that the applications of MADM are mostly more than MODM, wide various techniques have been developed for MADM by researchers over the last 60 years, and the current book introduces some of the other new MADM methods.

Download or read book Modeling of a logistics network for wood flows from by products and cascade utilization written by Mohammad Sadegh Taskhiri and published by Cuvillier Verlag. This book was released on 2016-05-27 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Waste Wood and wood by-products have the potential to become attractive alternative sources of raw materials. Their efficient use is important due to the rising demand and limited supply of forest wood. Cascade utilization is gaining interest as a strategy to bridge the gap between rising wood demand and fresh wood availability. However, the economic and environmental impacts of a cascading system for wood-based products are not fully known. In this work, an investigation is conducted to determine the consequences of cascade utilization for the economic and environmental performance of logistics networks for wood flows. Two case studies in Lower Saxony consider five wood products, including medium density fiber (MDF), oriented strand board (OSB), particleboard, coated paper, and wood pellets. In the first case study, an approach for decision support is developed that consists of a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model. In the first case study, the MILP model is used for minimizing the costs of the logistics network for three scenarios. Then the UMBERTO software is applied to determine the quantity of CO2e of the minimized logistics network. In the second case study, the MILP model is enhanced using two objective functions, as cost and global warming potential (GWP) are considered simultaneously. In this case study, it is observed that environmental parameters such as CO2 emissions can also be implemented in the MILP. The utilization of a multi-objective optimization model brings new perspectives (the trade-off between two contradictory objective functions, for instance) in comparison to the first case study, in which CO2 is calculated as an off-line step after logistics costs are minimized.
