Download or read book Location Theory and Decision Analysis written by Yupo Chan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-26 with total page 726 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employing state-of-the art quantitative models and case studies, Location Theory and Decision Analysis provides the methodologies behind the siting of such facilities as transportation terminals, warehouses, housing, landfills, state parks and industrial plants. Through its extensive methodological review, the book serves as a primer for more advanced texts on spatial analysis, including the monograph on Location, Transport and Land-Use by the same author. Given the rapid changes over the last decade, the Second Edition includes new analytic contributions as well as software survey of analytics and spatial information technology. While the First Edition served the professional community well, the Second Edition has substantially expanded its emphasis for classroom use of the volume. Extensive pedagogic materials have been added, going from the fundamental principles to open-ended exercises, including solutions to selected problems. The text is of value to engineering and business programs that offer courses in Decision and Risk Analysis, Muticriteria Decision-Making, and Facility Location and Layout. It should also be of interest to public policy programs that use geographic Information Systems and satellite imagery to support their analyses.

Book Towards Green ICT

Download or read book Towards Green ICT written by Ramjee Prasad and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-09-01 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ICT is playing an increasingly important role in both business and individual's private life. It has increased international interconnectedness and speed up the process of globalization. But on the other side the total energy consumption by the communication and networking devices and the relevant global CO emission is increasing exponentially. ICT has, in many ways, a vital role to play. It accounts for about two percent of global CO emissions. Telecommunications applications can have a direct, tangible impact on lowering greenhouse gas emissions, power consumption, and achieve efficient recycling of equipment waste. This book is the outcome of the special session on Green Communications at 'The 12th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications' (WPMC) held in September '09 in Sendai, Japan. To the best of the editors' knowledge this is the first book on the Green Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and can be considered a milestone and a key-tool aimed at driving the industrial, scientific and academic efforts of the international community to guarantee a greener future to the whole planet.

Book Models and Algorithms for Public Transportation Scheduling

Download or read book Models and Algorithms for Public Transportation Scheduling written by Ming Wei and published by Scientific Research Publishing, Inc. USA. This book was released on 2022-11-30 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an arterial green-wave synchronous coordination model for bus and non-bus lanes based on platoon dispersion theory. As the traffic light at an upstream intersection change from red to green, the dispersive characteristics of these vehicles moving from upstream to the downstream were analyzed by assuming velocities of two platoon following a normal distribution pattern. The model aims at analyzing relationship between traffic flow, distance between adjacent intersections, and signaling time in order to achieve arterial green-wave synchronous coordination in both the bus and non-bus lanes. To facilitate coordination in a traffic signal control system, the number of vehicles forced to stop at the head of the platoon as well as the number of vehicles trapped at the tail of the platoon were deter-mined and presented in a tabular form for use in the proposed traffic light coordination model. Finally, a numeric computation for the coordination of successive signals is presented to illustrate the validity of the proposed model.
