This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference on Linear Statistical Inference LINSTAT'93 was held in Poznan, Poland, from May 31 to June 4, 1993. The purpose of the confer ence was to enable scientists, from various countries, engaged in the diverse areas of statistical sciences and practice to meet together and exchange views and re sults related to the current research on linear statistical inference in its broadest sense. Thus, the conference programme included sessions on estimation, prediction and testing in linear models, on robustness of some relevant statistical methods, on estimation of variance components appearing in linear models, on certain gen eralizations to nonlinear models, on design and analysis of experiments, including optimality and comparison of linear experiments, and on some other topics related to linear statistical inference. Within the various sessions 22 invited papers and 37 contributed papers were presented, 12 of them as posters. The conference gathered 94 participants from eighteen countries of Europe, North America and Asia. There were 53 participants from abroad and 41 from Poland. The conference was the second of this type, devoted to linear statistical inference. The first was held in Poznan in June, 4-8, 1984. Both belong to the series of confer ences on mathematical statistics and probability theory organized under the auspices of the Committee of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, due to the ini tiative and efforts of its Mathematical Statistics Section. In the years 1973-1993 there were held in Poland nineteen such conferences, some of them international.

Book Interpolation and Extrapolation Optimal Designs V1

Download or read book Interpolation and Extrapolation Optimal Designs V1 written by Giorgio Celant and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-06-07 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first of a series which focuses on the interpolation and extrapolation of optimal designs, an area with significant applications in engineering, physics, chemistry and most experimental fields. In this volume, the authors emphasize the importance of problems associated with the construction of design. After a brief introduction on how the theory of optimal designs meets the theory of the uniform approximation of functions, the authors introduce the basic elements to design planning and link the statistical theory of optimal design and the theory of the uniform approximation of functions. The appendices provide the reader with material to accompany the proofs discussed throughout the book.

Download or read book Compstat written by Rudolf Dutter and published by Physica. This book was released on 2013-12-20 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book assembles papers which were presented at the biennial sympo sium in Computational Statistics held und er the a!uspices of the International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC), a section of ISI, the Interna tional Statistical Institute. This symposium named COMPSTAT '94 was organized by the Statistical Institutes of the University of Vienna and the University of Technology of Vienna, Austria. The series of COMPSTAT Symposia started 1974 in Vienna. Mean while they took place every other year in Berlin (Germany, 1976), Leiden (The Netherlands, 1978), Edinburgh (Great Britain, 1980), Toulouse (France, 1982), Prague (Czechoslovakia, 1984), Rom (Italy, 1986), Copenhagen (Den mark, 1988), Dubrovnik (Yugoslavia, 1990) and Neuchätel (Switzerland, 1992). This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary in Vienna, Austria. It has obviously been observed a movement from "traditional" computa tional statistics with emphasis on methods which produce results quickly and reliably, to computationally intensive methods like resampling procedures, Bayesian methods, dynamic graphics, to very recent areas like neural net works, accentuation on spatial statistics, huge data sets, analysis strategies, etc. For the organization of the symposium, new guidelines worked out by the IASC in written form were in effect this time. The goal was to refresh somehow the spirit of the start of COMPSTAT '74, keep the tradition of the series and ensure a certain continuity in the sequence of biannual meetings.

Book Robust Estimation with Discrete Explanatory Variables

Download or read book Robust Estimation with Discrete Explanatory Variables written by Pavel Cizek and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The least squares estimator is probably the most frequently used estimation method in regression analysis. Unfortunately, it is also quite sensitive to data contamination and model misspecification. Although there are several robust estimators designed for parametric regression models that can be used in place of least squares, these robust estimators cannot be easily applied to models containing binary and categorical explanatory variables. Therefore, I design a robust estimator that can be used for any linear regression model no matter what kind of explanatory variables the model contains. Additionally, I propose an adaptive procedure that maximizes the efficiency of the proposed estimator for a given data set while preserving its robustness.

Book Robust Planning and Analysis of Experiments

Download or read book Robust Planning and Analysis of Experiments written by Christine H. Mueller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robust statistics and the design of experiments are two of the fastest growing fields in contemporary statistics. Up to now, there has been very little overlap between these fields. This is the first book to link these two areas by studying the influence of the design on the efficiency and robustness of robust estimators and tests. The classical approaches of experimental design and robust statistics are introduced before the areas are linked, and the author shows that robust statistical procedures profit by an appropriate choice of the design and that efficient designs for a robust statistical analysis are more applicable.

Book Random Sample Consensus

Download or read book Random Sample Consensus written by Fouad Sabry and published by One Billion Knowledgeable. This book was released on 2024-04-30 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is Random Sample Consensus Random sample consensus, also known as RANSAC, is an iterative method that is used to estimate the parameters of a mathematical model based on a collection of observed data that includes outliers. This method is used in situations where the outliers are permitted to have no impact on the values of the estimates. The conclusion is that it is also possible to view it as a tool for detecting outliers. An algorithm is considered to be non-deterministic if it is able to generate a suitable result only with a certain probability, and this likelihood increases as the number of iterations that are permitted via the method increases. In 1981, Fischler and Bolles, who were working at SRI International, were the ones who initially published the algorithm. In order to solve the Location Determination Problem (LDP), which is a problem in which the objective is to find the points in space that project onto an image and then convert those points into a set of landmarks with known positions, they utilized RANSAC.
