Book Optimal Allocation of Enlisted Men Full Regression Equations Vs Aptitude Area Scores

Download or read book Optimal Allocation of Enlisted Men Full Regression Equations Vs Aptitude Area Scores written by Richard C. Sorenson and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Manpower Information and Computerized Systems Task utilizes the growing body of psychological, mathematical, and computer technology in seeking solutions to manpower management problems. The present Technical Research Note reports on continuing research directed toward increasing the efficiency of allocation through use of the Army Classification Battery (ACB) test scores. The research using a simulation technique evaluates the loss in performance efficiency attributable to the use of the two variable composites--Aptitude Areas--rather than the superior eleven variable regression estimate. It was found that in an optimal allocation procedure, performance of enlisted men could be substantially increased by using regression estimates from all ACB tests rather than the two test composites. Book Exploring the Limits in Personnel Selection and Classification

Download or read book Exploring the Limits in Personnel Selection and Classification written by John P. Campbell and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-06-17 with total page 686 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beginning in the early 1980s and continuing through the middle 1990s, the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI) sponsored a comprehensive research and development program to evaluate and enhance the Army's personnel selection and classification procedures. This was a set of interrelated efforts, collectively known as Project A. Project A had a number of basic and applied research objectives pertaining to selection and classification decision making. It focused on the entire selection and classification system for Army enlisted personnel and addressed research questions that can be generalized to other personnel systems. It involved the development and evaluation of a comprehensive array of predictor and criterion measures using samples of tens of thousands of individuals in a broad range of jobs. The research included a longitudinal sample--from which data were collected at organizational entry--following training, after 1-2 years on the job and after 3-4 years on the job. This book provides a concise and readable description of the entire Project A research program. The editors share the problems, strategies, experiences, findings, lessons learned, and some of the excitement that resulted from conducting the type of project that comes along once in a lifetime for an industrial/organizational psychologist. This book is of interest to industrial/organizational psychologists, including experienced researchers, consultants, graduate students, and anyone interested in personnel selection and classification research.

Book Summary of SIMPO I Model Development

Download or read book Summary of SIMPO I Model Development written by Pauline T. Olson and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents a study and evaluation of the Army's personnel subsystem with respect to effectiveness of its policies in assignment, training, utilization, and contingency readiness of specialized personnel. The SIMPO-I effort has been directed to development of a model simulation package for assessing quantitatively the cumulative impact of personnel policy changes on the allocation, distribution, and utilization of Army personnel with special attention to effects of policies on deployability. The present publication reports on progress in the production and planning of computerized models for use in dealing with the manpower system problems and for evaluating alternative personnel policies.

Book SIMPO 1 Entity Model for Determining the Qualitative Impact of Personnel Policies

Download or read book SIMPO 1 Entity Model for Determining the Qualitative Impact of Personnel Policies written by Elizabeth Niehl and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The entity simulation model described in this publication is an initial product of the operations research efforts conducted by the Statistical Research and Analysis Division, BESRL under SIMPO-I Task. The model was designed for integration into the more generalized SIMPO-I simulation package for evaluation of personnel and manpower policy alternatives across the Army's major personnel functions. The entity model concentrates on the procurement, selection, and allocation aspects of the personnel system. The SIMPO-I, when completed, will consist of a relatively comprehensive computerized model of the Army personnel subsystem--incorporating a simulation model and a library of computer programs. Other modules to be developed, have appropriate interfaces with the entity module, will be concerned with such personnel functions as distribution, tour rotation, promotion, and training. Representative applications of an entity model in a simulated system are discussed. A detailed description of the general simulation program is given together with a manual for use of the program in the Appendix to the report. (Author).
