Book Principles of Electron Optics

Download or read book Principles of Electron Optics written by Peter W. Hawkes and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 755 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three volumes in the PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRON OPTICS Series constitute the first comprehensive treatment of electron optics in over forty years. While Volumes 1 and 2 are devoted to geometrical optics, Volume 3 is concerned with wave optics and effects due to wave length. Subjects covered include: Derivation of the laws of electron propagation from SchrUdinger's equation Image formation and the notion of resolution The interaction between specimens and electrons Image processing Electron holography and interference Coherence, brightness, and the spectral function Together, these works comprise a unique and informative treatment of the subject. Volume 3, like its predecessors, will provide readers with both a textbook and an invaluable reference source.

Book Methods of Inverse Problems in Physics

Download or read book Methods of Inverse Problems in Physics written by Dilip N. Ghosh Roy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-03-14 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This interesting volume focuses on the second of the two broad categories into which problems of physical sciences fall-direct (or forward) and inverse (or backward) problems. It emphasizes one-dimensional problems because of their mathematical clarity. The unique feature of the monograph is its rigorous presentation of inverse problems (from quantum scattering to vibrational systems), transmission lines, and imaging sciences in a single volume. It includes exhaustive discussions on spectral function, inverse scattering integral equations of Gel'fand-Levitan and Marcenko, Povzner-Levitan and Levin transforms, Møller wave operators and Krein's functionals, S-matrix and scattering data, and inverse scattering transform for solving nonlinear evolution equations via inverse solving of a linear, isospectral Schrodinger equation and multisoliton solutions of the K-dV equation, which are of special interest to quantum physicists and mathematicians. The book also gives an exhaustive account of inverse problems in discrete systems, including inverting a Jacobi and a Toeplitz matrix, which can be applied to geophysics, electrical engineering, applied mechanics, and mathematics. A rigorous inverse problem for a continuous transmission line developed by Brown and Wilcox is included. The book concludes with inverse problems in integral geometry, specifically Radon's transform and its inversion, which is of particular interest to imaging scientists. This fascinating volume will interest anyone involved with quantum scattering, theoretical physics, linear and nonlinear optics, geosciences, mechanical, biomedical, and electrical engineering, and imaging research.

Book Quantum Statistics of Linear and Nonlinear Optical Phenomena

Download or read book Quantum Statistics of Linear and Nonlinear Optical Phenomena written by Jan Perina and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The quantum statistical properties of radiation represent an important branch of modern physics with rapidly increasing applications in spectroscopy, quantum generators of radiation, optical communication, etc. They have also an increasing role in fields other than pure physics, such as biophysics, psychophysics, biology, etc. The present monograph represents an extension and continuation of the previous monograph of this author entitled Coherence of Light (Van Nostrand Reinhold Company, London 1972, translated into Russian in the Publishing House Mir, Moscow 1974) and of a review chapter in Progress in Optics, Vol. 18 (E. Wolf (Ed.), North-Holland Publishing Company, Amsterdam 1980), published just recently. It applies the fundamental tools of the coherent-state technique, as described in Coherence of Light, to particular studies of the quantum statistical properties of radiation in its interaction with matter. In particular, nonlinear optical processes are considered, and purely quantum phenomena such as antibunching of photons are discussed. This book will be useful to research workers in the fields of quantum optics and electronics, quantum generators, optical communication and solid-state physics, as well as to students of physics, optical engineering and opto-electronics.

Book Selected Papers on Phase space Optics

Download or read book Selected Papers on Phase space Optics written by Markus E. Testorf and published by SPIE-International Society for Optical Engineering. This book was released on 2006 with total page 730 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phase-space methods can be traced back to early contributions in classical geometrical optics, yet it is only recently that scientists and engineers began to systematically explore the use of phase-space representations for analyzing and synthesizing optical signals. This seminal collection of 70 papers dated from 1932 through 2004 describes the spatial properties of optical signals in terms of phase-space in the classical optical fields, and sketches some of the many interesting applications of phase-space methods.
