Book Optical Study of Ethanol Gasoline Blends with Or Without Heating

Download or read book Optical Study of Ethanol Gasoline Blends with Or Without Heating written by Abdul Hadi Abd Majid and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis deals with optical study of ethanol gasoline blends with or without heating. The aim of this research is to study about spray atomization characteristics of ethanol blended gasoline fuel as well as pure gasoline in a direct injection gasoline injector of a gasoline engine. Spray characteristics including spray angle, spray tip penetration and spray width. Investigation of the spray characteristics of different ratio of gasohol fuel blends using optical measurement. Then analysis qualitative result from experimental. The scopes of this research are choosing specific fuel injector and optical measurement, setup test rig for experimental using high pressure chamber and choosing fuel blends as a sample to doing experimental. Choosing fuel blends E0 and E10 as a sample to doing experimental. Spray characteristics that focus only on spray angle and spray tip penetration. After test rig fabrication is done and all equipment has been setup, experiment is done by supplying pressure at 4 bar from high pressure pump to fuel injector that attach to high pressure chamber. Ambient temperature was set to 300 K and ambient pressure is 0.1 MPa. While injector is spray a video imaging recording and result was display according to time frame. Video imaging has been analyzed and result is compared according spray evolution by time.

Book New Analysis Methods Estimate a Critical Property of Ethanol Fuel Blends

Download or read book New Analysis Methods Estimate a Critical Property of Ethanol Fuel Blends written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To date there have been no adequate methods for measuring the heat of vaporization of complex mixtures. This research developed two separate methods for measuring this key property of ethanol and gasoline blends, including the ability to estimate heat of vaporization at multiple temperatures. Methods for determining heat of vaporization of gasoline-ethanol blends by calculation from a compositional analysis and by direct calorimetric measurement were developed. Direct measurement produced values for pure compounds in good agreement with literature. A range of hydrocarbon gasolines were shown to have heat of vaporization of 325 kJ/kg to 375 kJ/kg. The effect of adding ethanol at 10 vol percent to 50 vol percent was significantly larger than the variation between hydrocarbon gasolines (E50 blends at 650 kJ/kg to 700 kJ/kg). The development of these new and accurate methods allows researchers to begin to both quantify the effect of fuel evaporative cooling on knock resistance, and exploit this effect for combustion of hydrocarbon-ethanol fuel blends in high-efficiency SI engines.

Book Ethanol gasoline Blends as Automotive Fuels

Download or read book Ethanol gasoline Blends as Automotive Fuels written by and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental study of gasoline and 10% ethanol/90% gasoline blends was made using five late-model vehicles operated on a climate-controlled chasis dynamometer. Data were obtained to permit comparisons of fuel economy, emissions, and other significant operational characteristics observed in tests with the two fuels. Volumetric fuel economy was shown to be slightly decreased while energy economy was slightly increased using the ethanol/gasoline blend. Compared with the results using base gasoline, the use of the ethanol/gasoline blend had no adverse effect upon regulated emissions at test temperatures within the range 20° to 75° F; at 100° F there were mirror increases in emissions using the ethanol/gasoline blends. Addition of ethanol at 10% concentration generally either had no effect or only slight effect on unburned hydrocarbon; an exception was noted for 100° F at which temperaure unburned hydrocarbon from the blend was increased significantly over that found with the base fuel. Road octane quality of the ethanol/gasoline blend was increased by about 3.5 numbers over the base fuel.
