During each game, the Opta Index rates every Premiership player on nearly one hundred different actions for each of six positions. Opta's unrivalled kick-by-kick analysis of football matches has added a revolutionary new dimension to the game. And with a guide to how to get the best out of it for fantasy football competitions, it also makes essential reading for would-be team managers. The Opta Football Yearbook 2002-2003 provides an at-a-glance guide to the Premiership teams and the players who made the 2001-2002 season so memorable. With a complete index of all the players who appeared in the Premiership, plus those promoted from the Nationwide League (so that you can find them wherever they may have played), and tables of the most successful and (dare one say it) most dreadful, the Opta Football Yearbook 2002-2003 is the only guide you'll need to the Premiership.

Download or read book OptaJoe s Football Yearbook 2016 written by Duncan Alexander and published by Random House. This book was released on 2016-08-11 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kane or Vardy? Pep or José? Pulis or ... anybody else? Football is a game of opinions. A world where received wisdom and the law of the hunch reign supreme. But football is becoming more intelligent. The history books may say that Leicester City winning the premier league ‘defied logic’, but if you looked more closely, they were always going to win . . . From distances run to pass success rate, shots on target to corners won, counter-attacks to tackles made, Opta, the world’s leading sports data company, records everything. But what does it all mean? And how can it add to our love of the game? From the author and statistician behind the popular OptaJoe Twitter account, what follows is a hugely entertaining and insightful guide to football in 2016, analysing data from the world's greatest teams, players, leagues and tournaments. Stats can never tell us everything, but combining cutting-edge analysis with wry humour, this book debunks countless myths peddled by pundits, managers, and even players. The ideas that follow are both surprising and satisfying, but may also leave you with the feeling that ‘yes, that’s what I was thinking all along’.

Book Routledge Handbook of Sports Performance Analysis

Download or read book Routledge Handbook of Sports Performance Analysis written by Tim McGarry and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2013-03-05 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sport performance analysis techniques help coaches, athletes and sport scientists develop an objective understanding of actual sport performance, as opposed to self-report, fitness tests or laboratory based experiments. For example, contemporary performance analysis enables elite sports people and coaches to obtain live feedback of match statistics and video sequences using flexible internet systems, systems that have become an indispensible tool for all those involved in high performance sport. The Routledge Handbook of Sports Performance Analysis is the most comprehensive guide to this exciting and dynamic branch of sport science ever to be published. The book explores performance analysis across the four main contexts in which it is commonly used: support for coaches and athletes; the media; judging sport contests, and academic research. It offers an up-to-date account of methodological advances in PA research, assesses the evidence underpinning contemporary theories of sport performance, and reviews developments in applied PA across a wide range of sports, from soccer to track and field athletics. Covering every important aspect of PA, including tactics, strategy, mechanical aspects of technique, physical aspects of performance such as work-rate, coach behaviour and referee behaviour, this is an essential reference for any serious student, researcher or practitioner working in sport performance analysis, sport coaching or high performance sport.

Book German Operetta on Broadway and in the West End 1900 1940

Download or read book German Operetta on Broadway and in the West End 1900 1940 written by Derek B. Scott and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2022-06-23 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Academic attention has focused on America's influence on European stage works, and yet dozens of operettas from Austria and Germany were produced on Broadway and in the West End, and their impact on the musical life of the early twentieth century is undeniable. In this ground breaking book, Derek B. Scott examines the cultural transfer of operetta from the German stage to Britain and the USA and offers a historical and critical survey of these operettas and their music. In the period 1900-1940, over sixty operettas were produced in the West End, and over seventy on Broadway. A study of these stage works is important for the light they shine on a variety of social topics of the period - from modernity and gender relations to new technology and new media - and these are investigated in the individual chapters. This book is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.

Download or read book Animal Conflict written by Felicity A. Huntingford and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past twenty years there have been many new developments in the study of animal behaviour: for example, more sophisticated methods of neurophysiology; more precise techniques for assessing hormonal levels; more accurate methods for studying animals in the wild; and, on the functional side, the growth of behavioural ecology with its use of optimality theory and game theory. In addition, there has been a burgeoning number of studies on a wide range of species. The study of aggression has benefited greatly from these develop ments; this is reflected in the appearance of a number of specialized texts, both on behavioural ecology and on physiology and genetics. However, these books have often been collections of papers by spe cialists for specialists. No one book brings together for the non specialist all the diverse aspects of aggression, including behavioural ecology, genetics, development, evolution and neurophysiology. Neither has there been a comparative survey dealing with all these aspects. Therefore one of our aims in writing this book was to fill in these gaps. Another of our aims was to put aggression into context with respect to other aspects of an animal's lifestyle and in particular to other ways in which animals deal with conflicts of interest. Aggressive behaviour does not occur in a biological vacuum. It both influences and is influenced by the animal's ecological and social environment, so we consider both the complex antecedent conditions in which aggressive behaviour occurs, and its ramifying consequences in the ecosystem.
