Book Oppositions to a Promise

Download or read book Oppositions to a Promise written by Devay Myatt and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-12 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this timely book, Opposition To A Promise, Overseer Myatt strategically instructs the reader how to identify and successfully conquer dream blocking and destroying giants. Dr. Myatt boldly speaks to the spirits of fear, lack and other hindrances that the believer might face in their quest for what God has spoken and promised over their life. Opposition to a Promise breaks down the fundamentals of our faith that arms us against predators of the mind, body and soul that seek daily to destroy what has been spoken and declared by God. Dr. Myatt identifies key biblical principles and precise strategies, which encourage, compel and then propel the reader to advantageously engage against the enemy in order to obtain victory-THE PROMISE. I recommend this book to those who are in their "meantime season"-right between promise and fulfillment, as well as for those who earnestly desire to become independent of the world's system-living in God's provisions and guarantees for their life. This body of knowledge is sure to be an effective tool in the arsenal of any believer in pursuit of destiny. Bishop Gregory M. Davis, Greg Davis Ministries International Dr. Myatt conveys clearly the process whereby; the Saints of God can overcome any obstacle through a profound simplistic process of biblical principles. His writings are revelatory for those faced with any type of opposition in their pursuit of the promises of God. His interacting through written dialogue puts one in the story line and causes you to take on the characteristics of the biographical characters within the book, which makes his reading exciting and anticipative as one waits for the next principle to be utilized in our quest to possess our promise land. Book On the Shores of Politics

Download or read book On the Shores of Politics written by Jacques Ranciere and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2021-03-16 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is frequently said that we are living through the end of politics, the end of social upheavals, the end of utopian folly. Consensual realism is the order of the day. But political realists, remarks Jacques Ranciere, are always several steps behind reality, and the only thing which may come to an end with their dominance is democracy. ‘We could’, he suggests, ‘merely smile at the duplicity of the conclusion/suppression of politics which is simultaneously a suppression/conclusion of philosophy.’ This is precisely the task which Ranciere undertakes in these subtle and perceptive essays. He argues persuasively that since Plato and Aristotle politics has always constructed itself as the art of ending politics, that realism is itself utopian, and that what has succeeded the polemical forms of class struggle is not the wisdom of a new millennium but the return of old fears, criminality and chaos. Whether he is discussing the confrontation between Mitterrand and Chirac, French working-class discourse after the 1830 revolution, or the ideology of recent student mobilizations, his aim is to restore philosophy to politics and give politics back its original and necessary meaning: the organization of dissent.

Book The Body in Late Capitalist USA

Download or read book The Body in Late Capitalist USA written by Donald M. Lowe and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 1995-08-10 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Body in Late-Capitalist USA, Donald M. Lowe explores the varied social practices that code and construct the body. Arguing that our bodily lives are shaped by a complex of daily and ongoing practices—how we work, what we buy and consume—Lowe contends that as a result of the commodification of these and other social practices in the late-twentieth century, what we often understand to be the needs of the body are in fact means for capital accumulation. Moving beyond studies of representations and images of the body, Lowe focuses on the intersection of body practices, language, and the Social to describe concretely the reality of a lived body. His strongly synthetic work brings together Marxist critique, semiotics, Foucaultian discourse analysis, and systems and communications theory to examine those practices that construct the body under late capitalism: habits of work and consumption, the ways we give birth and raise children, socialization, mental and physical healing, reconstructions and contestations of sexuality and gender. Lowe draws upon a wide range of sources, including government and labor studies and statistics, diagnostic and statistical manuals on mental illness, computer manuals, self-help books, and guides to work-related stress disorders, to illustrate the transformation of the body into a nexus of exchange value in postmodern society.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this clear, comprehensive, student-friendly textbook, biblical scholar and teacher Paula Gooder describes and illustrates the range of approaches to interpreting the New Testament, as taught in universities and seminaries throughout the English-speaking world. Top scholars give a short definition of a particular criticism, and then Gooder gives a practical example to demonstrate how that criticism can be applied to a biblical text. A very broad range of methods is introduced, from traditional criticisms such as source criticism and historical criticism to more modern methods such as feminist criticism and liberation criticism. Readers will understand how different meanings and emphases can be drawn from a text depending upon the method of interpretation chosen. They will also be given the skills to start analyzing and examining texts for themselves in a meaningful and insightful way.

Book Clientelism and Economic Policy

Download or read book Clientelism and Economic Policy written by Aris Trantidis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-28 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With its deep economic crisis and dramatic political developments Greece has puzzled Europe and the world. What explains its long-standing problems and its incapacity to reform its economy? Using an analytic narrative and a comparative approach, the book studies the pattern of economic reforms in Greece between 1985 and 2015. It finds that clientelism - the allocation of selective benefits by political actors (patrons) to their supporters (clients) - created a strong policy bias that prevented the country from implementing deep-cutting reforms. The book shows that the clientelist system differs from the general image of interest-group politics and that the typical view of clientelism, as individual exchange between patrons and clients, has not fully captured the wide range and implications of this phenomenon. From this, the author develops a theory on clientelism and policy-making, addressing key questions on the politics of economic reform, government autonomy and party politics. The book is an essential addition to the literatures on clientelism, public choice theory, and comparative political economy. It will be of key interest to scholars and students of European Union politics, economic policy and party politics.
