Book Operation Quetzalcoatl the Underground Economy and the Narcodollar

Download or read book Operation Quetzalcoatl the Underground Economy and the Narcodollar written by Ralph O. Nieders and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-04-02 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operation Quetzalcoatl deals with real events and the emerging threat of a growing global Underground Economy that very few have taken seriously. The fall of governments, investments banks and currencies have shown that those in charge of protecting the public welfare have failed. Business schools do not offer courses on the Underground Economy. They do not offer degrees in corruption, money laundering, counterfeiting or assassination, but they are all taught in the Underground Economy, and they all form part of the financial and political equation that impacts and defines the world. Narcodollars have now become a critical component of this thriving and growing economy. From Colombian revolutionaries to Islamic Jihadists, the drug trade is central to their movements and success. They use banks as effectively as they use bombs. They are amassing fortunes that can rival Wall Street hedge funds, fortunes that like nuclear materials can easily be converted into weapons of mass destruction. Governments around the world have failed to take the Underground Economy and Narcodollars seriously, this book shows why they should.

Book excerpt: The legend of Quetzalcóatl is the enduring epic myth of Mesoamerica. The gods create the universe, but man must carefully tend to the harmony of the world. Without spiritual attention to harmony, chaos may reign, destroying the universe and civilization. The ancient Mexicans, like other peoples throughout the world, wrestled with ideas and metaphors by which to know the Godhead and developed their own concepts about their relationship to the universe. Quetzalcóatl came to the Toltecs to teach them art, agriculture, peace, and knowledge. He was a redeemer god, and his story inspires, instructs, and entertains, as do all the great myths of the world. Now available in paperback, the Lord of the Dawn is Anaya's exploration of the cosmology and the rich and complex spiritual thought of his Native American ancestors. The story depicts the daily world of man, the struggle between the peacemakers and the warmongers, and the world of the gods and their role in the life of mankind.

Book History and Mythology of the Aztecs

Download or read book History and Mythology of the Aztecs written by and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 1998-06-01 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the great documents of colonial Mexico, the Codex Chimalpopoca chronicles the rise of Aztec civilization and preserves the mythology on which it was based. Its two complementary texts, Annals of Cuauhtitlan and Legend of the Suns, record the pre-CortŽsian history of the Valley of Mexico together with firsthand versions of that region's myths. Of particular interest are the stories of the hero-god Quetzalcoatl, for which the Chimalpopoca is the premier source. John Bierhorst's work is the first major scholarship on the Codex Chimalpopoca in more than forty years. His is the first edition in English and the first in any language to include the complete text of the Legend of the Suns. The precise, readable translation not only contributes to the study of Aztec history and literature but also makes the codex an indispensable reference for Aztec cultural topics, including land tenure, statecraft, the role of women, the tribute system, warfare, and human sacrifice.

Book How Did the White God Come to Mexico Ce Acatl Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl

Download or read book How Did the White God Come to Mexico Ce Acatl Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl written by Stefan Heep and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2019-09-12 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most American schoolbooks claim that the Aztec ruler Moctezuma II confused the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés for the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, a fabulous, fair-skinned priest king of ancient times who had promised to return, which is why Moctezuma voluntarily surrendered his mighty empire. In the past, the tale of Quetzalcoatl has inspired many people to speculate about pre-Columbian invaders from the Old World. It has also been abused as another presumed proof of white supremacy. Indigenous traditions, however, saw a Mexican Messiah who played an important part in constructing the Mexican national identity. This book demonstrates that the story of the returning god is a product of “fake news” uttered by Cortés. It does so by analysing the most important sources of the Quetzalcoatl-tale. A systematic context-enlargement that also includes ethnographic information and contemporary history reveals why and how Cortés constructed this story, and why and how the Aztec elite adopted it. This method proves to be an epistemological tool which allows researchers to identify pre-Hispanic information in ethnohistorical texts of colonial times. As a result, the true Quetzalcoatl behind the legend comes to light.

Book excerpt: Aztec legends warned of the fearsome return of a white, bearded god from across the seas who would destroy their civilization. This prediction came true with the arrival on American shores of Hernando Cortés. Leading a small band of ruthless, determined Spaniards, Cortés and hundreds of thousands of Indian allies marched into the Aztec capital city Tenochtitlan, and, after incredible adventures, finally laid waste to that metropolis and rebuilt it into modern-day Mexico City. This is the full, incredible-but-true story of how a few hundred Europeans overturned history. Important revelations in this book include: - That smallpox was brought to the Americas not by Europeans, but a Negro in Spanish service; and - That despite propaganda about "guns and steel," the Spaniards would not have succeeded in overthrowing the Aztec Empire had the surrounding Indian tribes, long victims of their cruel neighbors, not provided hundreds of thousands of warriors in the final sacking of Tenochtitlan. This is one of the most astonishing stories ever told from the era of European expansion into the New World. Cover image: Detail of the statue of Cortés at his birth town of Medellin, Spain. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Compared to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance is brief—little more than two centuries, extending roughly from the mid-fourteenth century to the end of the sixteenth century—and largely confined to a few Italian city states. Nevertheless, the epoch marked a great cultural shift in sensibilities, the dawn of a new age in which classical Greek and Roman values were "reborn" and human values in all fields, from the arts to civic life, were reaffirmed. With this volume, Eugenio Garin, a leading Renaissance scholar, has gathered the work of an international team of scholars into an accessible account of the people who animated this decisive moment in the genesis of the modern mind. We are offered a broad spectrum of figures, major and minor, as they lived their lives: the prince and the military commander, the cardinal and the courtier, the artist and the philosopher, the merchant and the banker, the voyager, and women of all classes. With its concentration on the concrete, the specific, even the anecdotal, the volume offers a wealth of new perspectives and ideas for study.
