Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: http://www.OperationDesertRose.com Operation Desert Rose is a beautiful story. I cant even tell you how many times I literally laughed out loud enjoying their triumphs and Im a little embarrassed to admit....I actually cried several times. This truly touched me. So many little things in the story brought back memories, and its a tale so many can relate to whether they were in the military or not. I think it is something that can appeal to the masses and its very uplifting at the same time. Its inspirational, spiritual, romantic, and sexy without being gaudy, lude, cheesy, or preachy. Buy this book - its a definite yes! ~ Shelby Austin, Former SSG US Army

Book Khobar Towers Tragedy and Response

Download or read book Khobar Towers Tragedy and Response written by Perry D. Jamieson and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on 2008 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This account of the Khobar Towers bombing tells the story of the horrific attack and the magnificent response of airmen doing their duty under nearly impossible circumstances. None of them view their actions as heroic, yet the reader will marvel at their calm professionalism. All of them say it was just their job, but the reader will wonder how they could be so well trained to act almost instinctively to do the right thing at the right time. None of them would see their actions as selfless, yet countless numbers refused medical attention until the more seriously injured got treatment. Throughout this book, the themes of duty, commitment, and devotion to comrades resoundingly underscore the notion that America's brightest, bravest, and best wear her uniforms in service to the nation. This book is more than heroic actions, though, for there is also controversy. Were commanders responsible for not adequately protecting their people? What should one make of the several conflicting investigations following the attack? Dr. Jamieson has not shied away from these difficult questions, and others, but has discussed them and other controversial judgments in a straightforward and dispassionate way that will bring them into focus for everyone. It is clear from this book that there is a larger issue than just the response to the bombing. It is the issue of the example set by America's airmen. Future airmen who read this book will be stronger and will stand on the shoulders of those who suffered and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Book excerpt: A woman, long since given up for lost, kept prisoner in a place forgotten by the modern world. A hunt for ancient treasure in a lawless land of pirates, drug-smugglers and Bedouin bandits. Based on first-hand combat experience in the Yemen, Desert Rose is the tale of soldier-turned-mercenary Johnny Baron's return to the desert to hunt out terrorists, make his fortune and settle some deadly old scores. I've never been to the Yemen, but reading Desert Rose made me feel as if I were right there. Not only is there a wealth of fascinating historical and political information, but you have a real knack for getting across a sense of place. In fact some of the best passages in the book are inspired by the "sweltering, singeing lash" of the sun in the desert, or the "weird tract of narrow alleyways and passages" in the ancient towns and villages. Your descriptions of flying are equally visceral and compelling, making the reader feel as if they were strapped in next to your narrator, feeling the g-force or watching the dawn break, seeing "the wings and nose turn shades of carmine, claret and crimson".Your battle-hardened narrator gets some good lines and offers a nicely cynical perspective on all the international skulduggery. There's also a lot of exciting action and, if you can pull it off, the Indiana-Jones-meets-James-Bond plot has definite commercial potential.
