Book excerpt: What if an even more deadly mutated version of the COVID-19 virus were to emerge one year after the start of the world-wide pandemic in early 2020, and within weeks of the global roll-out of several new COVID-19 vaccines? On January 21, 2021, just outside of Boulder, Colorado, a domestic house cat unknowingly infected with the COVID-19 virus and owned by the Chief of Trauma Medicine at the Denver Health Medical Center, is attacked by a coyote in the back yard of its owner’s acreage. Although the cat initially survives, it becomes patient zero for the new mutated version of the virus. After the death of the cat and its owner from what first appears to be a re-infection of the COVID-19 virus, the United States Centre for Disease Control discovers the true nature of this new and possibly devastating threat to the world. The race to control the new mutated version of the corona virus, COVID-21, and develop a new modified vaccine begins with Operation Coyote. Dr. John Benson, a renowned Canadian forensic wildlife biologist, RCMP Inspector, and senior strategist with INTERPOL’s Wildlife Crime Working Group, together with Dr. Kate Beckett, long term colleague, romantic partner, forensic wildlife biologist, and a senior Special Agent with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service Office of Law Enforcement, are chosen by the Democrat controlled White House to run Operation Coyote. What happens over the ensuing four weeks could influence the fate of the world’s population and economy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the late 1990s, NATO led the Kosovo Force (KFOR), charged with stabilizing Kosovo and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia after genocide and other atrocities were carried out in the Balkan region. Operation Kinetic is not only a history of the origins and operations of the Kosovo Force but also a history of the vital operations conducted by the Canadian Army units and their allies assigned to KFOR during the crucial early days and months after entry into the province in 1999 and through 2000. Operating alongside American, British, French, Norwegian, Finnish, and Swedish forces, these surveillance and response units were instrumental in preventing violence in numerous areas before it could escalate and draw in the Serbian Army, which could have led to further genocide or war in the region. Sean M. Maloney, a Canadian military historian with extensive field experience in the Balkans, draws on numerous interviews and firsthand accounts of an operation that would later serve as a model in preparing for similar efforts in Afghanistan and provide a blueprint for stabilizing operations around the world.

Book Arctic Doom Arctic Boom

Download or read book Arctic Doom Arctic Boom written by Barry Scott Zellen and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2009-10-13 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An expert examination of the way climate change is transforming the Arctic environmentally, economically, and geopolitically, and how the challenges of that transformation should be met. A growing number of scientists estimate that there will be no summer ice in the Arctic by as soon as 2013. Are we approaching the "End of the Arctic?" as journalist Ed Struzik asked in 1992, or fully entering the "Age of the Arctic," as Arctic expert Oran Young predicted in 1986? Arctic Doom, Arctic Boom: The Geopolitics of Climate Change in the Arctic looks at the uncertainty at the top of the world as the shrinking of the polar ice cap opens up new sea lanes and the vast hydrocarbon riches of the Arctic seafloor to commercial development and creates environmental disasters for Arctic biota and indigenous peoples. Arctic Doom, Arctic Boom explores the geopolitics of the Arctic from a historical as well as a contemporary perspective, showing how the warming of the Earth is transforming our very conception of the Arctic. In addition to addressing economic and environmental issues, the book also considers the vital strategic role of the region in our nation's defenses.

Book Ford Coyote Engines Revised Edition

Download or read book Ford Coyote Engines Revised Edition written by Jim Smart and published by CarTech Inc. This book was released on 2022-02-15 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Realize your Ford Coyote engine’s full potential by using this detailed resource as a guide to select the right parts for the street or the strip. Veteran Ford writer and historian, Jim Smart, explains and highlights all of the latest and greatest options to achieve more horsepower and torque, and of course, faster quarter-mile times in Ford Coyote Engines: How to Build Max Performance-Revised Edition. In this Revised Edition, now covering Generation III engines as well as Generation I & II, upgrades included are engine building techniques, cold-air induction kits, supercharger and pulley kits, better exhaust headers, fuel system and ECU tuning upgrades, and more. Both Ford and the aftermarket have produced an array of parts to squeeze even more power out of your Coyote. Ford introduced its first “clean slate design” V-8 engines in the early 1990s in Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models. Known as the "Modular" engine family, the 4.6L engines employed new overhead cams, multi-valve performance, distributorless ignition, and more. This engine had new technology for its time, and it proved to be an extremely durable workhorse that logged hundreds of thousands of miles in police and taxi applications as well as light-duty trucks. And, of course, hotter versions, and even supercharged versions, found their way into performance applications such as Mustang GTs and Cobras. By 2011, Ford wanted something hotter and more current, especially for its flagship Mustang GT and GT350 models, which were suddenly competing with new 6.2L LS3 engines in Camaros and 6.4L Hemi engines in Challengers. Enter Ford's new 5.0L “Coyote” engine with Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT); it was an evolution of the earlier 4.6L and 5.4L Modular designs. Although the new Coyote engine had increased displacement, it still had far fewer cubes than the competition. Despite less displacement, the Coyote could hold its own against bigger Chevy and Chrysler mills thanks to advanced technology, such as 4V heads with better port and valvetrain geometry. The Coyote is also Ford's first foray into technology that includes Ti-VCT and cam-torque-actuated (CTA) function, which is a fancy way of saying variable cam timing for an incredible power curve over a broader RPM range. Now, in Generation III, Ford has implement a system using both Port and Direct Fuel Injection, taking advantage of the benefits of both systems in a single application. Even with all of this new technology, there is always room for improvement. If you are looking for even more power from your new Coyote, look no further than this volume.

Book excerpt: The New York Times bestselling, “heart-thumping” (Sean Hannity) espionage thriller from #1 bestselling author Oliver North offers an epic tale of America’s future in the year 2032, about the kidnapping of a prominent physicist who knows too many state secrets for the president’s liking—especially in a re-election year. The kidnapping of Martin Cohen, an MIT physicist who is privy to sensitive scientific information, from a Houston energy conference by Islamic terrorists sparks a high stakes game of international cat and mouse. The NRA has been outlawed; the US military has been gutted; Conservative Christians, dubbed ANARKS, have been labeled a global conspiracy and have been largely driven underground. The Caliphate is now a superpower, residing in Israel. The White House is occupied by a repressive Progressive regime, obsessed with the upcoming presidential election. Peter Newman, security consultant and former decorated war hero, is determined to rescue Cohen. The president, fearful that her reelection will be endangered by the reemergence of terrorism, will stop at nothing to keep the kidnapping a secret. The White House condemns the kidnapping as the work of ANARKS, then has the authorities brand Newman an ANARK. Newman is thus forced to evade the law while also preparing to rescue the kidnap victim with the help of his father—also a decorated war hero—along with a patriotic US senator and a band of special forces operatives.
