Book Operating and Support Cost Estimating Guide Sample Analysis Army Helicopter at DSARC Defense Systems Acquisition Review Council II

Download or read book Operating and Support Cost Estimating Guide Sample Analysis Army Helicopter at DSARC Defense Systems Acquisition Review Council II written by COST ANALYSIS IMPROVEMENT GROUP WASHINGTON D C. and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The following sample of a CAIG(Cost Analysis Improvement Group) Operating and Support Cost Estimate Report covering a hypothetical case has been developed to further assist the cost analyst in the preparation of cost estimating reports submitted to the DSARC and CAIG during the acquisition process of a new weapon system. The sample is intended to show an example of how Operating and Support Costs can be developed for CAIG review with available data bases and one example of an appropriate format for presentation of cost estimates. The existing A-7E data base was used only to illustrate the need to relate an estimate to an existing similar system and to ensure a constant relationship between values and the Cost Element Structure. Each case should address that data which is the most complete and accurate for its purposes. The level of detail depicted in this example may be greater than that which is available or appropriate to a specific case.

Book Operating and Support Cost Estimating Guide Sample Analysis Microwave Landing System at DSARC Defense Systems Acquisition Review Council III

Download or read book Operating and Support Cost Estimating Guide Sample Analysis Microwave Landing System at DSARC Defense Systems Acquisition Review Council III written by COST ANALYSIS IMPROVEMENT GROUP WASHINGTON D C. and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operating and Support (O & S) costs for the Micro Wave Landing System (MLS) and the current Precision Approach Radar/Instrument Landing System (PAR/ILS) (baseline) are shown. These figures are compared to the figures presented to the DSARC at Milestone II. The force O & S costs are based on a three year delivery schedule plus 20 years of full force operation of 150 copies. The cost reduction reflects a drop in the number of support personnel by 3. This cost reduction occurred in spite of the rapid rise in energy costs. The automatic solid state MLS requires only about 66% of the energy of the existing PAR/ILS in spite of an added automatic communications capability.

Book Aircraft System Operating and Support Costs

Download or read book Aircraft System Operating and Support Costs written by Norman E Betaque (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As weapon system life cycle costs have risen, DoD has placed new emphasis on examining the operating and support (O/S) cost impacts of planned new weapons and finding ways to reduce these costs. O/S cost analyses are now a major part of the cost review conducted at each weapon procurement decision meeting by the Defense Systems Acquisition and Review Committee (DSARC) and the Cost Analysis Improvement Group. This report recommends guidelines for preparing and presenting estimates of the support investment (SI) and O/S costs of fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems to DSARC. It provides a framework for objective comparison of SI and O/S costs of program, design, or support alternatives, using consistent methodologies and terminology. It also focuses on assessment of efforts to control downstream costs of weapon systems in the acquisition phase. A general methodology for SI and O/S cost-estimating is described, a standard cost element structure is defined, and specific requirements for presenting SI and O S cost estimates to DSARC are proposed. Standards for the presentation and documentation of those cost estimates are recommended.

This book was released on 2014-03-31 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Department of Defense The ability to generate reliable cost estimates is a critical function, necessary to support the Department of Defense capital programming process. Without this ability DoD is at risk of experiencing cost overruns, missed deadlines, and performance shortfalls-all recurring problems that our program assessments too often reveal. Furthermore, cost increases often mean that DoD cannot fund as many programs as intended or deliver them when promised. The methodology outlined in this guide is a compilation of best practices that federal cost estimating organizations and industry use to develop and maintain reliable cost estimates throughout the life of a DoD acquisition program. Why buy a book you can download for free? We print this book so you don't have to. First you gotta find a good clean (legible) copy and make sure it's the latest version (not always easy). Some documents found on the web are missing some pages or the image quality is so poor, they are difficult to read. We look over each document carefully and replace poor quality images by going back to the original source document. We proof each document to make sure it's all there - including all changes. If you find a good copy, you could print it using a network printer you share with 100 other people (typically its either out of paper or toner). Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Department of Defense has placed new emphasis on examining the projected operating and support (O/S) costs of planned weapons and finding ways to reduce those costs. O/S cost analyses are now a major part of the cost review conducted at each weapon procurement decision meeting by the Defense Systems Acquisition Review Council (DSARC) and the DSARC's principal advisor on new system costs -- the Cost Analysis improvement Group (CAIG). This report recommends guidelines for preparing and presenting estimates of the support investment (SI) and O/S costs of combat vehicle systems to DSARC. It provides a framework for objective comparison of SI and O/S costs of program, design, or support alternatives, using consistent methodologies and terminology. A general methodology for SI and O/S cost-estimating is described, a standard cost element structure is defined, and specific requirements for presentation of SI and O/S cost estimates to DSARC are proposed. This book was released on 1974 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The guide provides an ASARC/DSARC/CRAIG framework for review of major weapon system life cycle operating and support (O and S) cost estimates. It presents standard O and S cost elements, a standard approach to estimating O and S costs and a standard approach to documenting the cost estimates derived. This guide formalizes the procedures for O+S costing throughout the Army cost analysis community. It reflects the cost elements and methodologies to be used by HQDA in analyzing weapon system O and S cost estimates prepared by subordinate commands. Because it is conceptually related to the CAIG O and S Guide, the guide will be used as the basic O and S costing terms of reference before the CAIG.
