The role of remote sensing for ecological and forestry applications is also reviewed along with some of the major issues in digital image classification. In addition, the issues of spatial resolution are discussed, particularly with respect to the relationship between surface features (objects and phenomena that contribute to spectral reflectance) and spatial resolution, and how this relationship affects classification accuracy.
