Book One Room Sunday School Teacher Guide

Download or read book One Room Sunday School Teacher Guide written by Abingdon Press and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unit 1: In The Beginning In this unit, children will discover how God created all that we know in the universe. They will learn that we are created in God's image and are special and valuable. This unit explores the story of Noah and that God wants us to be obedient and faithful just as Noah was. Children will also discover there are seasons in life and we can depend on God through life changes. Unit 2: God Chooses a People Just as God was present with people in Bible times, God is also with us. Children will learn this concept as they explore the calling of Abraham and the beginning of Israel. Children will also realize that God wants us to be generous as they explore the story of Abraham and Lot in Canaan. Through the story of Abraham and Sarah, children will learn that God wants us to be patient; and the story of Isaac and Rebekah teaches that God has a plan for all our lives. Unit 3: Trusting God's Promises Through the account of Jacob and Esau, children will discover that God's love is the same for all people. Continuing with the narrative of the twin brothers and the birthright, children learn that God does not want us to be envious of others -- God is with us even when we do wrong, and because God forgives us, God wants us to forgive others. This unit also explores the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah, and children will discover that we can trust God's promises. The Leader's Guide is easy to teach with specific activities highlighted that require little preparation. Activities come from each of the four sections of the lesson providing a balanced teaching session. Sections are: Arrival Activities; Live God's Word; Bible Story Time; and Sending Forth. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of Montana's one-room schoolhouses, as recollected and recounted by those most intimately connected to those places, is the story of the American frontier and the high value placed on education by those who came to homestead, mine, or work the railroads. It is a story of the Western spirit and of a culture marked by tenacity and endurance. These stories told by students and teachers, many of whom are now in their eighties or nineties tell of adventures traveling to and from school, the school day, recess games, family life, daily chores, and above all, the sense of community, as defined by these iconic humble schoolhouses. Their voices share memories and perspectives about a way of life, gone for the most part, and breathe life into these visions of rural heritage. The preservation of one-room schoolhouses is important, as they are among Montana's first frontier structures. These treasures inform us about ourselves our history and our culture through the people who learned and taught in them. One hundred percent of the net proceeds of this book will be donated to the Preserve Montana Fund, a campaign of collaboration between the Montana Preservation Alliance, the Montana History Foundation, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. This donation will serve to create a challenge grant, earmarked for Montana's endangered one-room schoolhouses.

It follows churches and individuals as they go on mission to meet physical and spiritual needs unmet by a world that is blind to their cries. It contains the life history of fifty-six-plus congregations as they grow in number and spirit, reaching their individuals with the claims of discipleship under Jesus Christ. Pastors, too, are highlighted in the histories of their pilgrimages in the faith. The history is a must-read for every believer, both to give encouragement regarding the past mission advance and to challenge would-be missionaries and the churches that support them.

Book Ten Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this delightfully personal and practical book, respected Bible teacher Larry Osborne confronts ten widely held beliefs that are both dumb and dangerous. People don’t set out to build their faith upon myths and spiritual urban legends. But somehow such falsehoods keep showing up in the way that many Christians think about life and God. These goofy ideas and beliefs are assumed by millions to be rock-solid truth... until life proves they’re not. The sad result is often a spiritual disaster: confusion, feelings of betrayal, a distrust of Scripture, loss of faith, anger toward both the church and God. But it doesn’t have to be so. Respected Bible teacher Larry Osborne confronts ten widely held beliefs that are both dumb and dangerous, including: • Faith can fix anything • God brings good luck • Forgiving means forgetting • Everything happens for a reason • A godly home guarantees good kids Get ready to be shocked, relieved, and inspired in the pages of Ten Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe. Because the truth is meant to set us free—not hurt us.
