Book excerpt: DISCOVER AFRESH THE BIBLICAL JESUS!Jesus Christ embodies God's glory and fullness. More than that, he is the only perfect man who has ever lived. But whereas his perfection is often taken for granted and regarded as a given, on the contrary it is a most stupendous achievement unparalleled in salvation history, for it was as a true man and not the trinitarian "God-man" that Jesus became perfect through suffering, obedience, and God's indwelling. He was consequently exalted to God's right hand as His supreme plenipotentiary, and given all authority in heaven and on earth. Hence the subtitle of the book, "The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ" (2Cor.4:6). This book is exegetical yet also devotional and inspirational.ALSO DISCUSSED: - Yahweh the only true God- The historical roots of trinitarianism- Jesus of the Bible versus Jesus of trinitarianism- The four pillars of trinitarianism (John 1, Colossians 1, Hebrews 1, Revelation 1)- Jesus as the "form of God" in Philippians 2- The name above all names given to Jesus- Jesus' perfection as a model and inspiration to God's people- God's glory manifested in Jesus Christ, the perfect image of God.

Book excerpt: Andrew Murray (9 May 1828 - 18 January 1917) was a South African writer, teacher and Christian pastor. Murray considered missions to be "the chief end of the church". Murray pastored churches in Bloemfontein, Worcester, Cape Town and Wellington, all in South Africa. He was a champion of the South African Revival of 1860. In 1889, he was one of the founders of the South African General Mission (SAGM), along with Martha Osborn and Spencer Walton. After Martha Osborn married George Howe, they formed the South East Africa General Mission (SEAGM) in 1891. SAGM and SEAGM merged in 1894. Because its ministry had spread into other African countries, the mission's name was changed to Africa Evangelical Fellowship (AEF) in 1965. AEF joined with Serving In Mission (SIM) in 1998 and continues to this day. Through his writings, Murray was also a key Higher Life or Keswick leader, and his theology of faith healing and belief in the continuation of the apostolic gifts made him a significant forerunner of the Pentecostal movement. Book The Image of God and the Perfect Man

Download or read book The Image of God and the Perfect Man written by Charles L. Hill and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book, "The Image of God and the Perfect Man" does not consist of only one perfect man or woman, but it comprises a society of people. A city of people, who is set on a hill and cannot be hidden. A nation, a state, a city, whose builder and maker is God. Where holiness unto the Lord is, "The Image of God and the Perfect Man" is also relating to a free society. Where there is no dictatorship of sin mastering or controlling your life. A nation of people who believes that all things are possible through Jesus Christ who strengthens them. A society of people who believes in overcoming sin while yet living in this present world. After you have received the power of the holy ghost in your life. If you can recall, John the baptist is the one who said behold the lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. Now if Christ have taken away the sin of the world, than why are we still continuing therein. He has taken away the very nature of sin because he intended for us to live in a world that is free from sin. So that you and I can be happy. It is sin that causes us to be unhappy, dissatisfied with ourselves, and with others. It does not matter how much money we have or how many Grammys you have won. Without Jesus Christ in your life, you will never reach the full potential of true happiness. The image of God and the perfect man is a nation of people within a nation. The nation of Jesus Christ, where you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Book Houdini Tarzan and the Perfect Man

Download or read book Houdini Tarzan and the Perfect Man written by John F. Kasson and published by Hill and Wang. This book was released on 2002-07-02 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A remarkable new work from one of our premier historians In his exciting new book, John F. Kasson examines the signs of crisis in American life a century ago, signs that new forces of modernity were affecting men's sense of who and what they really were. When the Prussian-born Eugene Sandow, an international vaudeville star and bodybuilder, toured the United States in the 1890s, Florenz Ziegfeld cannily presented him as the "Perfect Man," representing both an ancient ideal of manhood and a modern commodity extolling self-development and self-fulfillment. Then, when Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan swung down a vine into the public eye in 1912, the fantasy of a perfect white Anglo-Saxon male was taken further, escaping the confines of civilization but reasserting its values, beating his chest and bellowing his triumph to the world. With Harry Houdini, the dream of escape was literally embodied in spectacular performances in which he triumphed over every kind of threat to masculine integrity -- bondage, imprisonment, insanity, and death. Kasson's liberally illustrated and persuasively argued study analyzes the themes linking these figures and places them in their rich historical and cultural context. Concern with the white male body -- with exhibiting it and with the perils to it --reached a climax in World War I, he suggests, and continues with us today.

The Perfect Man: What if the man she’s been searching for has been there all along? Ellie Amore is a writer on a mission: find out what makes women fall in love, what makes a man so perfect readers don’t care if they’re fictional. To do this, she’ll need the help of her best friend, someone who watches out for her, feeds her tacos, and doesn’t mind when her cat hates him. Sometimes, perfect is subjective. Sometimes there’s no such thing. But all the time, he’s there. The Perfect Boyfriend: What if she chose the wrong brother? Eleven years ago, Kennedy said yes to a date with the man she’d spend the next decade with. Until now. She finds herself heartbroken and homeless. When her ex’s brother shows up like a knight in shining riot gear, all she can think is how much time she’s wasted loving the wrong man. The Perfect Husband: What if she accidentally married the right guy? Cecilia is known for doing stupid, impulsive things, but this is by far the worst. A drunken night leads to a strange man claiming they’re married. Harley is an infuriating rebel with a camera and a panty-melting grin, but he’s also more. He’s her friends ex, and maybe the one man who can match her irresponsible ways. The Perfect Bachelor: What if her boss isn’t the jerk he appears to be? Sadie hates Grey the moment she crashes into him outside the bookstore. The feeling grows when she realizes he’s the only lawyer in town hiring, and she needs a job. They get off to a rocky start filled with plant pranks, one hundred pounds of potatoes, and a parade of his ridiculous friends. But the more time she spends with the charming playboy, the more she realizes it’s all an act, and underneath the designer suits and chiseled jaw is a person worth getting to know. This set contains four complete sweet and slightly spicy romances with plenty of swoons, heartwarming moments, and laughter.

This book was released on 2015-01-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, women have been powerless and weak. Before the Holy Prophet Muhammad's arrival, a woman was regarded as man's slave and property, and no religion or nation could offer the woman rights and freedom. When their husbands died, they were forced to marry relatives or sold for money. There was no law that could protect them. Prophet Muhammad proclaimed in the name of God that men and women are equal. He declared that a man does not own his wife. He may not sell or force her into slavery. The teaching of the Holy Prophet raised the status of women as being not only equal to men, but also gave them freedom for social, physical and spiritual development. This book is about women's rights and freedom in Islam and shows that Holy Prophet Muhammad was indeed the liberator of women.

Book excerpt: NATIONAL BOOK AWARD WINNER • Is love between equals possible? This modern classic is a delightful intellectual love story that explores the deepest canyons of romantic love even as it asks large questions about society, geopolitics, and the mystery of what men and women really want. “Luminous…Few books evoke the state of love at its apogee.” —The New York Times Book Review “The best rendering of erotic politics…since D.H. Lawrence…The voice of Rush’s narrator is immediate, instructive and endearing.” —The New York Review of Books The narrator of this splendidly expansive novel of high intellect and grand passion is an American anthropologist at loose ends in the South African republic of Botswana. She has a noble and exacting mind, a compelling waist, and a busted thesis project. She also has a yen for Nelson Denoon, a charismatic intellectual who is rumored to have founded a secretive and unorthodox utopian society in a remote corner of the Kalahari—one in which he is virtually the only man. What ensues is an exhilarating quest and an exuberant comedy of manners: “A dryly comic love story about grown-up people who take the life of the mind seriously.” —Newsweek
