Download or read book Webs Of Paradox written by KC Heath and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-06-12 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SCIENCE / FANTASY set in the far future's distant past...with a thread of ROMANCE running throughout: Three planets doomed to extinction, and only a handful of heroes are equipped to save them from time paradoxes and nasty aliens. WEBS OF PARADOX is a complete story-arc, HIGH ACTION / ADVENTURE you will find difficult to put down. Amazon Reviews on Part One [previously published as Reins of Time]: - The world is complete, and the characters vivid. Obviously, a lot of effort was put into making this world work, and the mesh of the two worlds blends completely. The action is nonstop as the characters are tumbled from one precarious situation to another, and the ending comes together nicely. This was an enjoyable read, well worth the greater story depth and thoughts required to follow the story. TiggerKat

Book excerpt: Sherlock Holmes, a play that was revived many times after its first copyrighhtg performance in 1899, is the work of William Hooker Gillette, an American actor, playwright and stage-manager of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century who is still best remembered today as the personification of Sherlock Holmes on stage, a role he performed over 1,300 times, and reprised in a silent motion picture based on the play, and twice on radio. Gillette's particular contribution to the theater was in the areas of stage settings, special sound and lighting effects, and characterization. His portrayal of Holmes has influenced the modern image of the detective with his use of the deerstalker cap (which first appeared in some Strand illustrations by Sidney Paget) and the curved pipe that came to symbolize the character. Gillette was also well known for the famous line ñThis is elementary, my dear fellow!î which later became ñElementary, my dear Watson!î, a phrase that however never appears in DoyleÍs books.

Book City Under the Stars

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gardner Dozois
  • Publisher : Macmillan + ORM
  • Release : 2020-08-25
  • ISBN : 125075657X
  • Pages : 172 pages

Download or read book City Under the Stars written by Gardner Dozois and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2020-08-25 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: City Under the Stars completes a journey undertaken by Gardner Dozois and Michael Swanwick 25 years ago, when they published the novella The City of God. Over two decades later, the two realized there was more to the story, and began the work of expanding it. Now, after Gardner Dozois' tragic passing, the story can be told in full. God was in his Heaven—which was fifteen miles away, due east. Far in Earth's future, in a post-utopian hell-hole, Hanson works ten solid back-breaking hours a day, shoveling endless mountains of coal, within sight of the iridescent wall that separates what’s left of humanity from their gods. One day, after a tragedy of his own making, Hanson leaves the city, not knowing what he will do, or how he will survive in the wilderness without work. He finds himself drawn to the wall, to the elusive promise of God. And when the impossible happens, he steps through, into the city beyond. The impossible was only the beginning.
