This book was released on 1993 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA PROPAGATION D'UNE ONDE ACOUSTIQUE PLANE DANS UN MATERIAU COMPORTANT DES CAVITES OU DES INCLUSIONS RANGEES PERIODIQUEMENT EST SUSCEPTIBLE DE NOMBREUSES APPLICATIONS, NOTAMMENT DANS LES DOMAINES DE L'ACOUSTIQUE SOUS-MARINE, DU TRAITEMENT DES SIGNAUX ET DE L'ACOUSTIQUE MEDICALE. DE TELS MATERIAUX SONT UTILISES, PAR EXEMPLE, COMME REVETEMENTS ANECHOIQUES DE STRUCTURES IMMERGEES, COMME LIGNES A RETARD OU FILTRES ACOUSTIQUES. DE MEME, LES MATERIAUX PIEZOCOMPOSITES INTERVIENNENT DANS LA CONCEPTION DE NOUVEAUX TRANSDUCTEURS ULTRASONORES. CETTE THESE CONCERNE LA MODELISATION PAR LA METHODE DES ELEMENTS FINIS, A L'AIDE DU CODE ATILA, DE MATERIAUX ELASTIQUES OU PIEZOELECTRIQUES, PERIODIQUES DANS UNE, DEUX OU TROIS DIRECTIONS DE L'ESPACE. LES DEVELOPPEMENTS THEORIQUES SPECIFIQUES NECESSAIRES A LA DESCRIPTION DE CES MATERIAUX SONT TOUT D'ABORD PRESENTES. UNE PREMIERE VALIDATION EST REALISEE A TRAVERS QUELQUES RESULTATS OBTENUS POUR DES MATERIAUX PERIODIQUES, POUR LESQUELS DES FORMULATIONS ANALYTIQUES SIMPLES EXISTENT. ENSUITE, LA TECHNIQUE DEVELOPPEE EST APPLIQUEE A L'ETUDE DE LA PROPAGATION DES ONDES DANS LES MATERIAUX PERIODIQUES POREUX OU COMPOSITES, DANS LES PLAQUES ET GUIDES D'ONDE. PAR LE BIAIS DES COURBES DE DISPERSION, LES RESULTATS ELEMENTS FINIS OBTENUS SONT COMPARES AVEC SUCCES AUX RESULTATS DE MODELES ANTERIEURS SEMI-ANALYTIQUES ET EMPIRIQUES OU A DES RESULTATS EXPERIMENTAUX. LES PROPRIETES HOMOGENEISEES DE MATERIAUX POREUX SONT ENSUITE RECHERCHEES SUR DES SOLIDES ANISOTROPES, DANS LA LIMITE DES GRANDES LONGUEURS D'ONDE. UNE VERIFICATION EXPERIMENTALE DE LA QUALITE DE CETTE PROCEDURE D'HOMOGENEISATION EST MENEE EN ETUDIANT LES FREQUENCES DE RESONANCE DE PLAQUES PERFOREES PERIODIQUEMENT. ENFIN, L'ENSEMBLE DES RESULTATS CONDUIT A PROPOSER UNE EXTENSION DE LA METHODE POUR LES PROBLEMES COUPLES FLUIDE-SOLIDE ET POUR L'ETUDE DES ONDES EVANESCENTES DANS LES BANDES INTERDITES.

Book Mathematical Models for Suspension Bridges

Download or read book Mathematical Models for Suspension Bridges written by Filippo Gazzola and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-29 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work provides a detailed and up-to-the-minute survey of the various stability problems that can affect suspension bridges. In order to deduce some experimental data and rules on the behavior of suspension bridges, a number of historical events are first described, in the course of which several questions concerning their stability naturally arise. The book then surveys conventional mathematical models for suspension bridges and suggests new nonlinear alternatives, which can potentially supply answers to some stability questions. New explanations are also provided, based on the nonlinear structural behavior of bridges. All the models and responses presented in the book employ the theory of differential equations and dynamical systems in the broader sense, demonstrating that methods from nonlinear analysis can allow us to determine the thresholds of instability.

Book Continuum Mechanics Through the Twentieth Century

Download or read book Continuum Mechanics Through the Twentieth Century written by Gerard A Maugin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-08 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This overview of the development of continuum mechanics throughout the twentieth century is unique and ambitious. Utilizing a historical perspective, it combines an exposition on the technical progress made in the field and a marked interest in the role played by remarkable individuals and scientific schools and institutions on a rapidly evolving social background. It underlines the newly raised technical questions and their answers, and the ongoing reflections on the bases of continuum mechanics associated, or in competition, with other branches of the physical sciences, including thermodynamics. The emphasis is placed on the development of a more realistic modeling of deformable solids and the exploitation of new mathematical tools. The book presents a balanced appraisal of advances made in various parts of the world. The author contributes his technical expertise, personal recollections, and international experience to this general overview, which is very informative albeit concise.
