Book On Witt s Theorem for Nonalternating Symmetric Bilinear Forms Over a Field of Characteristic 2

Download or read book On Witt s Theorem for Nonalternating Symmetric Bilinear Forms Over a Field of Characteristic 2 written by Vera Pless and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this note Is to show that an analogue to Witt's theorem holds for a non-degenerate, non-alternating, symmetric bilinear form f over a field K of characteristic 2 where f(x, x) takes its values in a subfield K* such that K contains the square root of any element in K*. As is known, [2, p. 171] Witt's theorem does not hold in general for a field of characteristic 2. However, the following shows that an isometry of subspace can be extended if it leaves a certain unique vector invariant. The invariants of a subspace of V with respect to the orthogonal group are determined.

Book Production of H 1s2 by Hydrogen Atom Collisions

Download or read book Production of H 1s2 by Hydrogen Atom Collisions written by R. A. Mapleton and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The prior and post Born matrix elements are used to calculate the cross sections for H( - )(1s2) production in hydrogen atom collisions. In contrast to the original version of this work done by Mapleton in 1960, the plane wave approximation to the Coulomb function is partially corrected. The same H( - ) wave functions are used, and the post cross sections are substantially unaltered. Cross sections calculated with the improved H( - ) wave function as compared with the other H( - ) wave functions are from twenty to thirty-five per cent larger for the prior case and twenty to thirty per cent larger for the post case. The post-prior discrepancy, expressed as a ratio, varies between 0.001 and 0.33. (Author).

Book On the Resolving Power of Ground Mapping Radar Antennas

Download or read book On the Resolving Power of Ground Mapping Radar Antennas written by J. F. McIlvenna and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mapping of extended, cultural ground targets by an airborne radar is examined using communication theory concepts including those of the antenna transfer function and the target spatial frequency spectrum. Use of the set of transfer functions that correspond to Taylor aperture distributions and specification of the targets directly in terms of their spatial frequency spectra, permits one to examine the antenna images for quality and resolution. The results obtained indicate that resolution for a class of ground targets can be much better than is predicted by the two-point Rayleigh resolution criterion. It is also true that there can be situations in which the shape of the antenna images are quite independent of the radiation pattern. Several types of spatial noise were also included in the input spectrum to investigate noise effects on image quality and resolution. (Author).

Book Electromagnetic Properties of a Plasma covered Antenna

Download or read book Electromagnetic Properties of a Plasma covered Antenna written by Daniel J. Jacavanco and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antenna patterns (E-plane) of an X-band horn mounted in a ground plane and covered by a plasma slab were measured. A pulsed plasma was produced by capacitor discharge in a rectangular pyrex container of 6 in. x 2 in. x 24 in. i.d. Microwave interferometer measurements of the electron density were made at 9 and 35 Gc. Antenna patterns are presented which show a sharp decrease in radiated power at certain angles corresponding to the 'optics critical angle'. Good agreement is obtained for the movement of the optics critical angle with plasma density. (Author).

Book On the Relative Efficiencies of Context free Grammar Recognizers

Download or read book On the Relative Efficiencies of Context free Grammar Recognizers written by T. V. Griffiths and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of diverse recognition procedures that have been proposed for parsing sentences with respect to a context-free grammar are described in this paper by means of a common device. Each procedure is defined by giving an algorithm for obtaining a nondeterministic Turing Machine recognizer that is equivalent to a given context-free grammar. The formalization of the Turing Machine has been chosen to make possible particularly simple descriptions of the parsing procedures considered.
