Book On the Use of Potential Theory for Thermal Modeling in Metal Cutting

Download or read book On the Use of Potential Theory for Thermal Modeling in Metal Cutting written by Matthias Brockmann and published by Apprimus Wissenschaftsverlag. This book was released on 2016-01-20 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evolving temperature distributions during metal cutting are of major significance. Present analytical models are not capable to predict temperature fields to a sufficient degree. This lack of model validity is caused by the limited mathematical approaches. The present thesis deals with the development of methodologies for thermal modeling based on a class of complex functions termed potential functions. This approach has never been used before for metal cutting applications.

Book Thermal Analysis of the Milling Process

Download or read book Thermal Analysis of the Milling Process written by Thorsten Augspurger and published by Apprimus Wissenschaftsverlag. This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the current work was the analysis of temperatures in the milling process in order to understand causal and statistical relationships between process parameters and thermal state variables. The first step included fundamental empirical investigations in the form of orthogonal cuts in order to estimate the heat partitioning depending on the process parameters. Based on the empirical data from the orthogonal cuts temperature fields in the milling process were modelled analytically and validated.

Book Thermo energetic Design of Machine Tools

Download or read book Thermo energetic Design of Machine Tools written by Knut Großmann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-06 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The approach to the solution within the CRC/TR 96 financed by the German Research Foundation DFG aims at measures that will allow manufacturing accuracy to be maintained under thermally unstable conditions with increased productivity, without an additional demand for energy for tempering. The challenge of research in the CRC/TR 96 derives from the attempt to satisfy the conflicting goals of reducing energy consumption and increasing accuracy and productivity in machining. In the current research performed in 19 subprojects within the scope of the CRC/TR 96, correction and compensation solutions that influence the thermo-elastic machine tool behaviour efficiently and are oriented along the thermo-elastic functional chain are explored and implemented. As part of this general objective, the following issues must be researched and engineered in an interdisciplinary setting and brought together into useful overall solutions: 1. Providing the modelling fundamentals to calculate the heat fluxes and the resulting thermo-elastic deformations in a comprehensive manner, 2. Mapping of the structural variability as a result of the relative movement inside the machine tool, 3. Providing the tools for an efficient adjustment of parameters that vary greatly in time and space by means of parameter identification methods as a prerequisite for correction and compensation solutions, 4. Engineering and demonstrating solutions to control-integrated correction of thermo-elastic errors by an inverse position setpoint compensation of the error at the TCP, 5. Engineering and demonstrating solutions based on the material properties to compensate for thermo-elastic effects through a homogeneous propagation of the temperature field, as well as reducing and smoothing the distribution of heat dissipated in supporting structures, 6. Developing metrological fundamentals to record the thermo-elastic errors in special structural areas of machine tools, 7. Engineering a methodological approach to simultaneous and complex evaluation of the CRC/TR 96 solutions, referring to their impact on product quality, production rate, energy consumption and machine tool costs

Book Property and Energy Conversion Technology of Solid Composite Sorbents

Download or read book Property and Energy Conversion Technology of Solid Composite Sorbents written by Liwei Wang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid chemisorption technology is an effective form of energy conversion for recovering low-grade thermal energy, but limited thermal conductivity and agglomeration phenomena greatly limit its performance. Over the past 20 years, researchers have explored the use of thermal conductive porous matrix to improve heat and mass transfer performance. Their efforts have yielded composite sorption technology, which is now extensively being used in refrigeration, heat pumps, energy storage, and de-NOx applications. This book reviews the latest technological advances regarding composite solid sorbents. Various development methods are introduced and compared, kinetic models are presented, and different cycles are analyzed. Given its scope, the book will benefit experts involved in developing novel materials and cycles for energy conversion, as well as engineers working to develop effective commercialized energy conversion systems based on solid sorption technology
