Book Monte Carlo Principles and Neutron Transport Problems

Download or read book Monte Carlo Principles and Neutron Transport Problems written by Jerome Spanier and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-part treatment introduces the general principles of the Monte Carlo method within a unified mathematical point of view, applying them to problems in neutron transport. It describes several efficiency-enhancing approaches, including the method of superposition and simulation of the adjoint equation based on reciprocity. The first half of the book presents an exposition of the fundamentals of Monte Carlo methods, examining discrete and continuous random walk processes and standard variance reduction techniques. The second half of the text focuses directly on the methods of superposition and reciprocity, illustrating their applications to specific neutron transport problems. Topics include the computation of thermal neutron fluxes and the superposition principle in resonance escape computations.

Book A Monte Carlo Procedure for Calculating Penetration of Neutrons Through Straight Cylindrical Ducts

Download or read book A Monte Carlo Procedure for Calculating Penetration of Neutrons Through Straight Cylindrical Ducts written by D. G. Collins and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Monte Carlo m thod is applied to evaluate the energy and angular distributions and the intensity of the scattered neutron flux that penetrates a straight cylindrical duct. A discussion of the scattering theory involved is given, as well as the sampling techniques peculiar to the duct-penetration problem. The method is evaluated on the basis of comparisons with experimental data. (Author).

Book Monte Carlo Particle Transport Methods

Download or read book Monte Carlo Particle Transport Methods written by I. Lux and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With this book we try to reach several more-or-less unattainable goals namely: To compromise in a single book all the most important achievements of Monte Carlo calculations for solving neutron and photon transport problems. To present a book which discusses the same topics in the three levels known from the literature and gives us useful information for both beginners and experienced readers. It lists both well-established old techniques and also newest findings.

Book Engineering Compendium on Radiation Shielding

Download or read book Engineering Compendium on Radiation Shielding written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need has arisen for a comprehensive handbook for engineers faced with problems of radiation shielding design. Although there are several excellent books on shielding, they either do not give enough consideration to the many practical design problems, or are limited to special aspects of the subject. Recognizing the universal need, the International Atomic Energy Agency decided to sponsor the publication ofthe present Engineering Compendium on Radiation Shield ing. At the first editorial discussions it was agreed that, if such a book were to be undertaken, it would be appropriate not only to create a useful design tool for the practising engineer but also to include well-referenced basic data for the research worker. Although trying to keep the book down to a reasonable size, the editors have aimed at a complete presentation of the subject, covering and linking both the tech nology and the science of shielding. Efforts to make terms and definitions consistent throughout have been only partially successful, owing to the continuing development of new ideas. However, inconsisten cies that could not be eliminated are identified whenever possible.

Book Nuclear Computational Science

Download or read book Nuclear Computational Science written by Yousry Azmy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-04-15 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear engineering has undergone extensive progress over the years. In the past century, colossal developments have been made and with specific reference to the mathematical theory and computational science underlying this discipline, advances in areas such as high-order discretization methods, Krylov Methods and Iteration Acceleration have steadily grown. Nuclear Computational Science: A Century in Review addresses these topics and many more; topics which hold special ties to the first half of the century, and topics focused around the unique combination of nuclear engineering, computational science and mathematical theory. Comprising eight chapters, Nuclear Computational Science: A Century in Review incorporates a number of carefully selected issues representing a variety of problems, providing the reader with a wealth of information in both a clear and concise manner. The comprehensive nature of the coverage and the stature of the contributing authors combine to make this a unique landmark publication. Targeting the medium to advanced level academic, this book will appeal to researchers and students with an interest in the progression of mathematical theory and its application to nuclear computational science.
