Book The Spectra of Sulphur Dioxide

Download or read book The Spectra of Sulphur Dioxide written by Frances Lowater and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Spectra of Sulphur Dioxide: A Dissertation The absorption spectrum of sulphur dioxide in the violet and ultra-violet regions was found for pressures of three atmospheres, two atmospheres, and one atmosphere, 1h cm, cm, and cm. The wave-lengths were determined by measurements made on the photographic plates in the usual way. The dividing engine used for this purpose was one by Gaertner, on which readings could be made to mm; that is, to a greater accuracy than settings could be made on the bands. The reduction factor was roughly 32 tenth-meters to 1 mm. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Sulfur Dioxide

Download or read book Sulfur Dioxide written by Louis C. Schroeter and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sulfur Dioxide discusses in detail the preparation and oxidation of sulfur dioxide. The book also covers the effect of the substance on organic and inorganic mixtures. The pharmaceutical application, safety, and effectiveness of the substance in the form of sulfites in food and beverage are comprehensively explained. A section of the book focuses on the physiological effects of sulfur dioxide in plants, animals, and humans. The book highlights the properties of sulfur dioxide in gaseous state and in aqueous solutions, with expanded section covering its ionic structure and spectral characteristics. Methods for determining trace amounts of sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere are summarized along with ways to identify the substance in complex mixtures such as food. The text is an excellent source of information about sulfur dioxide complexes and clathrates. The book will be a useful tool for pharmacists, scientists and chemists in the fields of medicine, and students doing research and experiment on the effect of sulfur dioxide on other compounds.

Download or read book Sulfur Dioxide written by Brian W. Compton and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sulphur dioxide is widely used in many industrial areas, for example in the production of sulphuric acid, and also as a reducing, bleaching, refrigerating agent and antioxidant. Due to a broad range of applications, it is one of the major atmospheric pollutants. Sulphur dioxide is a colourless gas with a strong odour. It is toxic, and its inhalation in high concentrations causes asphyxia, vomiting, and pulmonary oedema. This book presents research data from across the globe in the study of sulphur dioxide. Some topics in this compilation include a discussion of the receptor sites for sulphur dioxide; catalysts for the SO3 decomposition reaction; the physical properties of sulphur dioxide; the theoretical insights into the photoelectron spectroscopy of sulphur dioxide and sulphur dioxide emissions control.
