Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work reviews the principles underlying quantum-based atomic clocks, with introductory chapters placing them in context with the development of mechanical clocks and electronic quartz-controlled clocks. The book details design principles of the rubidium, cesium, hydrogen maser, and mercury ion standards; changes enabled by the advent of the laser; and the time-based global navigation systems, Loran-C and the Global Positioning System. The new edition includes such recent developments as clocks based on quantum resonance at optical frequency in individual ions confined in miniature electromagnetic traps. The Quantum Beat explores the subject with a minimum of mathematical formalism.

Book Bandwidth and Spectra of Phase and Frequency modulated Waves

Download or read book Bandwidth and Spectra of Phase and Frequency modulated Waves written by Stanford University. Stanford Electronics Laboratories and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spectrum of a cosine angle-modulated by a Gaussian random process (GRP) of (almost) arbitrary spectrum is investigated. Such a GRP provides a convenient model for voice signals, TV signals, and other types of complex communication signals. A simple closed form expression for the bandwidth of the modulated signal in terms of the bandwidth of the modulating signal is found. A general expansion for the shape of the spectrum of the modulated cosine is derived. In addition to reducing, in certain limiting situations, to known results, this expansion provides a practical means of obtaining the spectrum in intermediate cases. Examples are presented showing the spectrum of a cosine modulated by (1) a lowpass GRP with rectangular spectrum, and (2) a bandpass GRP of Gaussian spectrum. (Author).

Book Optical Multi Bound Solitons

Download or read book Optical Multi Bound Solitons written by Le Nguyen Binh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical Multi-Bound Solitons describes the generation and transmission of multi-bound solitons with the potential to form the basis of the temporal coding of optical data packets for next-generation nonlinear optical systems. The book deals with nonlinear systems in terms of their fundamental principles, associated phenomena, and signal processing applications in contemporary optical systems for communications and laser systems, with a touch of mathematical representation of nonlinear equations to offer insight into the nonlinear dynamics at different phases. The text not only delineates the strong background physics of such systems but also: Discusses the phase evolution of the optical carriers under the soliton envelopes for the generation of multi-bound solitons Explains the generation of multi-bound solitons through optical fibers Examines new types of multi-bound solitons in passive and active optical resonators Conducts bi-spectral analyses of multi-bound solitons to identify the phase and power amplitude distribution property of bound solitons Presents experimental techniques for the effective generation of bound solitons Optical Multi-Bound Solitons provides extensive coverage of multi-bound solitons from the dynamics of their formation to their transmission over guided optical media. Appendices are included to supplement a number of essential definitions, mathematical representations, and derivations, making this book an ideal theoretical reference text as well as a practical professional guidebook.

Book Rogue Waves 2000

Download or read book Rogue Waves 2000 written by Michel Olagnon and published by Editions Quae. This book was released on 2001 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
