Book The Road to Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

Download or read book The Road to Socialism with Chinese Characteristics written by Zheng Qian and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1921, the spread of Marxism, and the rise of the workers and peasants' movement provided a powerful organization and ideological basis for China to explore a new road to modernization. Relying on a mass movement supported by strong ideals, beliefs, and strict discipline, the CPC with Mao Zedong as the representative successfully opened a revolutionary "road" to reclaim the national power. From 1949 to 1976, great efforts were made to explore the road of socialism construction. During this time, China's modernization made great strides forward but also experienced some serious twists and turns. The experiences and lessons of this time period have provided valuable political material and ideological resources for the future. China has successfully found a different road to modernization from the Western countries and the Soviet Union, giving the "Chinese Road" great historical significance. This book takes an in-depth look at this fascinating history in Chinese politics. [Subject: Chinese Studies, Politics, Socialism]

Book THE CHOICE ISSUES ON CHINA S ROAD TO SOCIALISM

Download or read book THE CHOICE ISSUES ON CHINA S ROAD TO SOCIALISM written by JIANG Jing and published by American Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-11-18 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book mainly talks about why and how China has chosen socialism as well as major issues that have served to accelerate its transition from a new-democratic country into a socialist society. It focuses on Sino-Soviet relations and the Soviet assistance in China’s economic development, national defense industry, science, technology, education, and culture in the early years of the People’s Republic of China. It reviews the difficulties in China’s economic recovery and the strategy of overall learning from the Soviet Union over that same period. It elaborates on the strategy of heavy-industry-oriented development and the collectivization of agriculture for China’s transition to socialism. Using abundant historical examples, it will not only enable readers to better understand the formulation and establishment of China’s political, economic, and social systems, but also provide chances for international comparison of different models of development. It will hopefully contribute to promoting mutual understanding between China and western countries and boosting more inclusive development across the world in economic, cultural and social terms. In particular, it is of a significant reference value for researchers, teachers, and students engaged or interested in political science, economics, sinology, history, cross-cultural communication, etc. It is also recommended for those who are interested in China and the Chinese development.

Book Information Technology and Socialist Construction

Download or read book Information Technology and Socialist Construction written by Daniel E. Saros and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The failure of command central planning in the twentieth century has led to a general disillusionment within the socialist movement worldwide. Some alternatives to capitalism have been proposed since the end of the Cold War, but none has offered an alternative form of economic calculation. This book explains how modern information technology may be used to implement a new method of economic calculation that could bring an end to capitalism and make socialism possible. In this book, the author critically examines a number of socialist proposals that have been put forward since the end of the Cold War. It is shown that although these proposals have many merits, their inability effectively to incorporate the benefits of information technology into their models has limited their ability to solve the problem of socialist construction. The final section of the book proposes an entirely new model of socialist development, based on a "needs profile" that makes it possible to convert the needs of large numbers of people into data that can be used as a guide for resource allocation. This analysis makes it possible to rethink and carefully specify the conditions necessary for the abolition of capital and consequently the requirements for socialist revolution and, ultimately, communist society. Information Technology and Socialist Construction will be of interest to students and scholars of political economy, the history of economic thought, labour economics and industrial economics.

Book The Cambridge History of Communism

Download or read book The Cambridge History of Communism written by Norman Naimark and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-09-21 with total page 700 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second volume of The Cambridge History of Communism explores the rise of Communist states and movements after World War II. Leading experts analyze archival sources from formerly Communist states to re-examine the limits to Moscow's control of its satellites; the de-Stalinization of 1956; Communist reform movements; the rise and fall of the Sino-Soviet alliance; the growth of Communism in Asia, Africa and Latin America; and the effects of the Sino-Soviet split on world Communism. Chapters explore the cultures of Communism in the United States, Western Europe and China, and the conflicts engendered by nationalism and the continued need for support from Moscow. With the danger of a new Cold War developing between former and current Communist states and the West, this account of the roots, development and dissolution of the socialist bloc is essential reading.
