Book Elementary Quantum Mechanics

Download or read book Elementary Quantum Mechanics written by David S. Saxon and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-07-24 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on lectures for an undergraduate UCLA course in quantum mechanics, this volume focuses on the formulas of quantum mechanics rather than applications. Widely used in both upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses, it offers a broad self-contained survey rather than in-depth treatments. Topics include the dual nature of matter and radiation, state functions and their interpretation, linear momentum, the motion of a free particle, Schrödinger's equation, approximation methods, angular momentum, and many other subjects. In the interests of keeping the mathematics as simple as possible, most of the book is confined to considerations of one-dimensional systems. A selection of 150 problems, many of which require prolonged study, amplify the text's teachings and an appendix contains solutions to 50 representative problems. This edition also includes a new Introduction by Joseph A. Rudnick and Robert Finkelstein.

Book Elementary Quantum Mechanics Expanded Edition

Download or read book Elementary Quantum Mechanics Expanded Edition written by Fong Peter and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2005-06-16 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum mechanics is a difficult subject for students to learn after years of rigorous training in classical physics. In quantum mechanics they have to abandon what they have laboriously learned and adopt a new system of thinking. In the previous edition of this book, the author reformulated classical mechanics as a classical theory with an undetermined constant. As the constant approaches zero the theory reduces to Newton's exactly, but when set equal to the Planck constant the theory reduces to the Schrödinger representation of quantum mechanics. Thus the new theory, at least in its mathematical form, can be learned without ramifications and complexity. Over the years, the book has shepherded the growth of a generation of physicists. In this expanded edition, a similar trick is applied to introduce matrix mechanics. The matrix formulation presented allows quantum theory to be generalized to new physical systems such as electron spin, which cannot be done by the Schrödinger approach. The result is a textbook which promises to provide a future generation of students a clear, usable and authoritative resource to study the fundamentals of quantum mechanics. Twenty new problems are added to existing chapters.

Book General Principles of Quantum Mechanics

Download or read book General Principles of Quantum Mechanics written by Wolfgang Pauli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am very happy to accept the translators' invitation to write a few lines of introduction to this book. Of course, there is little need to explain the author. Pauli's first famous work, his article on the theory of relativity in the Encyklopädie der Mathematischen Wissenschaften was written at the age of twenty. He afterwards took part in the development of atomic physics from the still essentially classical picture of Bohr's early work to the true quantum mechanics. Thereafter, some of his work concerned the treatment of problems in the framework of the new theory, especially his paper on the hydrogen atom following the matrix method without recourse to Schrodinger's analytic form of the theory. His greatest achievement, the exclusion principle, generally known today under his own name as the Pauli principle, that governs the quantum theory of all problems including more than one electron, preceded the basic work of Heisenberg and Schrodinger, and brought him the Nobel prize. It includes the mathematical treatment of the spin by means of the now so well known Pauli matrices. In 1929, in a paper with Heisenberg, he laid the foundation of quantum electrodynamics and, in doing so, to the whole theory of quantized wave fields which was to become the via regia of access to elementary particle physics, since here for the first time processes of generation and annihilation of particles could be described for the case of the photons.

Book Foundational Transformation of Quantum Mechanics

Download or read book Foundational Transformation of Quantum Mechanics written by Victor Vaguine and published by ConsReality, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-09-13 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aphysical Quantum Mechanics (AQM) is a deeper and more profound quantum theory. Volume One expands the understanding of quantum reality with the addition of two new fundamental categories: aphysical and elementary consciousness of elementary particles. Using the AQM Theory, Volume One details the explanation of all known and long standing quantum enigmas, including “the collapse of the wave function,” and presents and explains the inner structures of perfect geometry of the photon and the intrinsic electron. AQM brings not only foundational transformation to quantum mechanics, but also to other branches of physics, such as quantum optics and particle physics. The paradigmatic power of AQM is such that the author was able to uncover 47 fundamental misconceptions/absurdities in the Standard Model theory of particle physics, and to make 27 fundamental scientific discoveries, all presented in these Volumes.
