Download or read book Your Story for His Glory written by Carrie Pasch and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-12-04 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a bold decision for a young believer to write a book to inspire others in their walk with Christ. Yet, it is that refreshing approach in communication with God that Carrie captures in her first book. Candid, thoughtful, and inspirational stories are recorded in this journal of her spiritual walk of faith and conversations with Jesus to inspire readers. Your Story for His Glory started as a private journal. One day Carrie shared her journal entries with her husband, whom marveled at Carrie's writing style and encouraged her to share her journey with others. With some coaxing, the idea of publishing this book became a reality. Carrie hopes to inspire people of faith in all stages of their spiritual journey, as we all seek to follow the path that God has designed for our lives.

Download or read book The Hospital on Seminary Ridge at the Battle of Gettysburg written by Michael A. Dreese and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Old Dorm," which served as the first classroom and dormitory of the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary, is a familiar tourist site--Union Cavalry General John Buford directed the opening stages of the battle of Gettysburg from the building's distinctive cupola and some of the bloodiest fighting of the three-day conflict took place on Seminary Ridge. However, few visitors realize the building's important role as the second largest hospital at Gettysburg, both during and after the battle. During the peak occupancy, 600-700 wounded soldiers from both armies were cared for at this site. This work presents the history of the Gettysburg Seminary during the Civil War and the important cast of characters that have passed through its halls by utilizing the firsthand accounts of soldiers, civilians, surgeons, and relief agency personnel. Also included is the prewar and postwar history of the Seminary, as well as information about President Samuel S. Schmucker and the abolition movement.

Download or read book A Place to Belong written by Megan Hill and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2020-04-16 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians know church is important, but sometimes it doesn't seem worth it. An eclectic assortment of people with differing personalities, political views, and parenting styles can make for awkward interactions and difficult connections. What’s the point of putting in the tough work to build relationships? But the Bible says God’s people ought to be bound together. It uses words like beloved, brothers and sisters, saints, and fellow laborers to describe their mutual relationship in the church. In this book, Megan Hill answers a common question of churchgoers: What’s so great about the church? With rich theology, practical direction, and study questions for group use, Hill encourages and equips both first-time visitors and regular members to delight in being a part of the local church—no matter how messy and ordinary it seems today. It is only when God’s people begin to see one another as the Lord sees them that they will truly find a place to belong.

Download or read book Sexual Politics in the Work of Tennessee Williams written by Michael S. D. Hooper and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-04-12 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael S. D. Hooper reverses the recent trend of regarding Tennessee Williams as fundamentally a social writer following the discovery, publication and/or performance of plays from both ends of his career - the 'proletarian' apprentice years of Candles to the Sun and Not About Nightingales and the once overlooked final period of, amongst many other plays, The Red Devil Battery Sign. Hooper contends that recent criticism has exaggerated the political engagement and egalitarian credentials of a writer whose characters and situations revert to a reactionary politics of the individual dominated by the negotiation of sexual power. Directly, or more often indirectly, Williams' writing expresses social disaffection before glamorising the outcast and shelving thoughts of political change. Through detailed analysis of canonical texts the book sheds new light on Williams' work, as well as on the cultural and social life of mid-twentieth-century America.
