Book Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844

Download or read book Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 written by Karl Marx and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-05-20 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 Marx explains how, under capitalism, people rely on labor to live. In the past people could rely on Nature itself for their natural needs; in modern society, if one wants to eat, one must work: it is only through money that one may survive. Thus, man becomes a slave to his wages. It is only through his work that he can find enough money to continue to live; but he doesn't simply live, he actually only survives, as a worker. Labor is only used to create more wealth, instead of achieving the fulfillment of human nature. Wilder Publications is a green publisher. All of our books are printed to order. Book The Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 and the Communist Manifesto

This book was released on 2009-09-25 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communism as a political movement attained global importance after the Bolsheviks toppled the Russian Czar in 1917. After that time the works of Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, especially the influential Communist Manifesto (1848), enjoyed an international audience. The world was to learn a new political vocabulary peppered with "socialism," "capitalism," "the working class," "the bourgeoisie," "labor theory of value," "alienation," "economic determinism," "dialectical materialism," and "historical materialism." Marx's economic analysis of history has been a powerful legacy, the effects of which continue to be felt world-wide. Serving as the foundation for Marx's indictment of capitalism is his extraordinary work titled Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts, written in 1844 but published nearly a century later. Here Marx offers his theory of human nature and an analysis of emerging capitalism's degenerative impact on man's sense of self and his creative potential. What is man's true nature? How did capitalism gain such a foothold on Western society? What is alienation and how does it threaten to undermine the proletariat? These and other vital questions are addressed as the youthful Marx sets forth his first detailed assessment of the human condition.

Book excerpt: While preparing it for publication, the intermingling of criticism directed only against speculation with criticism of the various subjects themselves proved utterly unsuitable, hampering the development of the argument and rendering comprehension difficult. Moreover, the wealth and diversity of the subjects to be treated could have been compressed into one work only in a purely aphoristic style; whilst an aphoristic presentation of this kind, for its part, would have given the impression of arbitrary systematism.

Book Economic Philosophic Manuscripts

Download or read book Economic Philosophic Manuscripts written by Karl Marx and published by Newcomb Livraria Press. This book was released on with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new translation of Marx's early unpublished manuscripts from 1844. This is Volume II in The Complete Works of Karl Marx by NL Press. Published posthumously in the 1930’s from his estate, these manuscripts are incomplete and were abandoned for larger projects he began to undertake with Engels. They survive only as fragments written between April and August 1844. The material is in draft form, and repeats itself several times because some of it was originally divided into columns, much like Kant’s critique do, which is an editor’s formatting nightmare. The preface for these three manuscripts is a part of the third manuscript, but is a fitting introduction for all three.

Book Critique of Hegel s Philosophy of Right

Download or read book Critique of Hegel s Philosophy of Right written by Karl Marx and published by Newcomb Livraria Press. This book was released on with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new 2023 translation of Marx's 1844 "Zur Kritik der Hegelschen Rechtsphilosophie" from the original manuscript. This edition includes a new introduction by the translator and reference materials including a Glossary of Philosophic and Economic Marxist Terminology, an Index of Personalities Associated with Marx and a Timeline of Marx’s Life and Works. This is Volume III in The Complete Works of Karl Marx by NL Press. In "Towards the Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Right" Marx's argument is that Hegel's political philosophy is an abstraction that fails to take into account the concrete reality of human existence and the class struggles that shape it. He contends that in order to understand the state, civil society, and the concept of alienation, one must take into account the economic relations that underlie it and the material conditions of society. The central argument of Marx's critique is that the state is not a neutral arbiter of justice, but is rather an instrument of class warefare and exploitation. This is a mimicry of Feuerbach’s argument nearly word-for-word. Marx's critique serves to demonstrate the importance of a historical and materialist perspective in understanding the nature of human freedom and morality. It serves as a precursor to his later theories of historical materialism and dialectical materialism, which continue to be influential in the modern world. Marx's critique in this work centers around the idea that Hegel's philosophy is an abstraction that fails to take into account the concrete reality of human existence and the class struggles that shape it.

Book Another Marx

Download or read book Another Marx written by Marcello Musto and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-05-03 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Marx was regarded as a thinker doomed to oblivion about whom everything had already been said and written. However, the international economic crisis of 2008 favoured a return to his analysis of capitalism, and recently published volumes of the Marx-Engels-Gesamtausgabe (MEGA2) have provided researchers with new texts that underline the gulf between Marx's critical theory and the dogmatism of many twentieth-century Marxisms. This work reconstructs with great textual and historical rigour, but in a form accessible to those encountering Marx for the first time, a number of little noted, or often misunderstood, stages in his intellectual biography. The book is divided into three parts. The first – 'Intellectual Influences and Early Writings' – investigates the formation of the young Marx and the composition of his Parisian manuscripts of 1844. The second – 'The Critique of Political Economy' – focuses on the genesis of Marx's magnum opus, beginning with his studies of political economy in the early 1850s and following his labours through to all the preparatory manuscripts for Capital. The third – 'Political Militancy' – presents an insightful history of the International Working Men's Association and of the role that Marx played in that organization. The volume offers a close and innovative examination of Marx's ideas on post-Hegelian philosophy, alienated labour, the materialist conception of history, research methods, the theory of surplus-value, working-class self-emancipation, political organization and revolutionary theory. From this emerges “another Marx”, a thinker very different from the one depicted by so many of his critics and ostensible disciples.

This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2020 in the subject Philosophy - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,0, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, language: English, abstract: This essay aims to explore the chapters 'Estranged Labor' and 'Private Property and Communism' in Karl Marx’s 'Economic & Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844' and elaborates on how they are still relevant today. In his Economic & Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844, Karl Marx proposes a potent and extensive philosophical analysis of the human being and its situation under a capitalist system. In doing so, he perceives history as a process of man’s alienation and its necessary abolition; man being history’s subject and labor being man’s essence. Marx, however, is no advocate of the concept of an anthropological humanism; for him, human beings have no abstract essence but are instead constituted in an historically grown environment: „just as society itself produces man as man, so is society produced by him.“ Society’s and man’s relationship is reciprocal: not only is society produced by human beings, Marx also saw that this man-made society in turn has great effect on the human beings which are born into and inhabit it. He continues to claim that the „human aspect of nature exists only for social man; for only then does nature exist for him as a bond with man – as his existence for the other and the other’s existence for him – and as the life-element of human reality. [...] society is the complete unity of man with nature – the true resurrection of nature – the consistent naturalism of man and the consistent humanism of nature.“ [...]

Book excerpt: "Delving into Karl Marx's central works as well as his natural scientific notebooks, published only recently and still being translated, [the author] argues that Karl Marx actually saw the environment crisis embedded in captialism. [The book] shows us that Marx has given us more than we once thought, that we can now come closer to finishing Marx's critique, and to building a sustainable ecosocialist world."--Page [4] of cover.
