Book On Stability of Compact Submanifolds of Complex Manifolds

Download or read book On Stability of Compact Submanifolds of Complex Manifolds written by Kunihiko Kodaira and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 2 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stability of compact submanifolds of complex manifolds and some related topics are discussed. A compact submanifold V of a complex manifold W is said to be stable if any small deformation W T OF contains a small deformation Vt of V. Let psi be the sheaf over V of germs of holomorphic sections of the normal bundle of V in W. If the first cohomology group H1(V, psi) vanishes then V is a stable submanifold of W.A fibre structure of a compact fibred complex manifold M is said to be stable if any small deformation Mt of M retains a fibre structure. If each fibre of M is regular then the fibre structure of M is stable. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kunihiko Kodaira's influence in mathematics has been fundamental and international, and his efforts have helped lay the foundations of modern complex analysis. These three volumes contain Kodaira's written contributions, published in a large number of journals and books between 1937 and 1971. The volumes cover chronologically the major periods of Kodaira's mathematical concentration and reflect his collaboration with other prominent theoreticians. The next major period, the classification of compact, complex analytic surfaces, forms the subject of Volume III and is a natural sequel to the papers on variation of complex structure. Originally published in 1975. Book Introduction to Complex Manifolds

Download or read book Introduction to Complex Manifolds written by John M. Lee and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2024-05-13 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex manifolds are smooth manifolds endowed with coordinate charts that overlap holomorphically. They have deep and beautiful applications in many areas of mathematics. This book is an introduction to the concepts, techniques, and main results about complex manifolds (mainly compact ones), and it tells a story. Starting from familiarity with smooth manifolds and Riemannian geometry, it gradually explains what is different about complex manifolds and develops most of the main tools for working with them, using the Kodaira embedding theorem as a motivating project throughout. The approach and style will be familiar to readers of the author's previous graduate texts: new concepts are introduced gently, with as much intuition and motivation as possible, always relating new concepts to familiar old ones, with plenty of examples. The main prerequisite is familiarity with the basic results on topological, smooth, and Riemannian manifolds. The book is intended for graduate students and researchers in differential geometry, but it will also be appreciated by students of algebraic geometry who wish to understand the motivations, analogies, and analytic results that come from the world of differential geometry.

Book Compact Complex Surfaces

Download or read book Compact Complex Surfaces written by W. Barth and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-22 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 19 years which passed since the first edition was published, several important developments have taken place in the theory of surfaces. The most sensational one concerns the differentiable structure of surfaces. Twenty years ago very little was known about differentiable structures on 4-manifolds, but in the meantime Donaldson on the one hand and Seiberg and Witten on the other hand, have found, inspired by gauge theory, totally new invariants. Strikingly, together with the theory explained in this book these invariants yield a wealth of new results about the differentiable structure of algebraic surfaces. Other developments include the systematic use of nef-divisors (in ac cordance with the progress made in the classification of higher dimensional algebraic varieties), a better understanding of Kahler structures on surfaces, and Reider's new approach to adjoint mappings. All these developments have been incorporated in the present edition, though the Donaldson and Seiberg-Witten theory only by way of examples. Of course we use the opportunity to correct some minor mistakes, which we ether have discovered ourselves or which were communicated to us by careful readers to whom we are much obliged.

Book Kunihiko Kodaira Volume I

Download or read book Kunihiko Kodaira Volume I written by Kunihiko Kodaira and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-03-08 with total page 671 pages. Thus they begin with early works that discuss the application of Hilbert space methods to differential equations, and the use of elementary solutions to prove regularity theorems for strongly elliptic systems of partial differential equations. Book Hodge Theory and Complex Algebraic Geometry II Volume 2

Download or read book Hodge Theory and Complex Algebraic Geometry II Volume 2 written by Claire Voisin and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-07-03 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2003 second volume of this account of Kaehlerian geometry and Hodge theory starts with the topology of families of algebraic varieties. Proofs of the Lefschetz theorem on hyperplane sections, the Picard–Lefschetz study of Lefschetz pencils, and Deligne theorems on the degeneration of the Leray spectral sequence and the global invariant cycles follow. The main results of the second part are the generalized Noether–Lefschetz theorems, the generic triviality of the Abel–Jacobi maps, and most importantly Nori's connectivity theorem, which generalizes the above. The last part of the book is devoted to the relationships between Hodge theory and algebraic cycles. The book concludes with the example of cycles on abelian varieties, where some results of Bloch and Beauville, for example, are expounded. The text is complemented by exercises giving useful results in complex algebraic geometry. It will be welcomed by researchers in both algebraic and differential geometry.

Book Chow Rings Decomposition of the Diagonal and the Topology of Families AM 187

Download or read book Chow Rings Decomposition of the Diagonal and the Topology of Families AM 187 written by Claire Voisin and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2014-02-23 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Claire Voisin provides an introduction to algebraic cycles on complex algebraic varieties, to the major conjectures relating them to cohomology, and even more precisely to Hodge structures on cohomology. The volume is intended for both students and researchers, and not only presents a survey of the geometric methods developed in the last thirty years to understand the famous Bloch-Beilinson conjectures, but also examines recent work by Voisin. The book focuses on two central objects: the diagonal of a variety—and the partial Bloch-Srinivas type decompositions it may have depending on the size of Chow groups—as well as its small diagonal, which is the right object to consider in order to understand the ring structure on Chow groups and cohomology. An exploration of a sampling of recent works by Voisin looks at the relation, conjectured in general by Bloch and Beilinson, between the coniveau of general complete intersections and their Chow groups and a very particular property satisfied by the Chow ring of K3 surfaces and conjecturally by hyper-Kähler manifolds. In particular, the book delves into arguments originating in Nori's work that have been further developed by others.
