Book Plastic Bending Theory And Applications

Download or read book Plastic Bending Theory And Applications written by T X Yu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-03-20 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the point of view of mechanics, this monograph systematically demonstrates the theory of plastic bending and its engineering applications; most of the contents of the book are based on the authors' research in the past decade. The monograph not only expounds the contributions of the authors to the fundamental theory of plastic bending, but also presents various applications of the theory in sheet metal forming, particularly in the analysis and prediction of springback and wrinkling of strips and plates subjected to bending or stamping. In addition to theoretical modelling, attention has also been paid to the development of related numerical methods; comparisons with experimental results are also presented.

Book Non Linear Bending and Buckling of Circular Plates Classic Reprint

Download or read book Non Linear Bending and Buckling of Circular Plates Classic Reprint written by Herbert B. Keller and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Non-Linear Bending and Buckling of Circular Plates In this paper we consider a thin circular elastic plate of thickness t and radius R subjected either to a uniform lateral pressure, p, or to a uniform edge thrust, f. The first loading situation is referred to as a bending problem and the second as a buckling problem. In both cases only rotationally symmetric deformations will be considered so that all deflections and stresses are functions of a single radial coordinate, r. It is well known that the classical linear theory of plates yields solutions of these problems which are valid only for a limited range of low loads. For larger values of p and f it is necessary to apply non-linear plate theories which allow for finite deflections and account for the interaction of membrane and bending stresses. Thus we employ the von Karman equations [1] which are based on a non-linear theory of elasticity with infinitesimal strains and are valid for flat plates undergoing small but finite displacements. For rotationally symmetric deformations of circular plates these equations reduce to two coupled second order non - linear ordinary differential equations. Book The Bending and Stretching of Plates

Download or read book The Bending and Stretching of Plates written by E. H. Mansfield and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2005-08-22 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by one of the world's leading authorities on plate behavior, this study gives a clear physical insight into elastic plate behavior. Small-deflection theory is treated in Part 1 in chapters dealing with basic equations: including thermal effects and multi-layered anisotropic plates, rectangular plates, circular and other shaped plates, plates whose boundaries are amenable to conformal transformation, plates with variable thickness, and approximate methods. Large-deflection theory is treated in Part 2 in chapters dealing with basic equations and exact solutions; approximate methods, including post-buckling behavior; and asymptotic theories for very thin plates, including tension field theory and inextensional theory. The mathematical content is necessarily high, making the style of the book appropriate to engineers and applied mathematicians. E.H. Mansfield is a Fellow of the Royal Society, a founder member of the Fellowship of Engineering, and the author of over 100 publications.

Book Thermal Stresses Advanced Theory and Applications

Download or read book Thermal Stresses Advanced Theory and Applications written by Richard B. Hetnarski and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-11 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an advanced modern textbook on thermal stresses. It serves a wide range of readers, in particular, graduate and postgraduate students, scientists, researchers in various industrial and government institutes, and engineers working in mechanical, civil, and aerospace engineering. This volume covers diverse areas of applied mathematics, continuum mechanics, stress analysis, and mechanical design. This work treats a number of topics not presented in other books on thermal stresses, for example: theory of coupled and generalized thermoelasticity, finite and boundary element method in generalized thermoelasticity, thermal stresses in functionally graded structures, and thermal expansions of piping systems. The book starts from basic concepts and principles, and these are developed to more advanced levels as the text progresses. Nevertheless, some basic knowledge on the part of the reader is expected in classical mechanics, stress analysis, and mathematics, including vector and cartesian tensor analysis. This 2nd enhanced edition includes a new chapter on Thermally Induced Vibrations. The method of stiffness is added to Chapter 7. The variational principle for the Green-Lindsay and Green-Naghdi models have been added to Chapter 2 and equations of motion and compatibility equations in spherical coordinates to Chapter 3. Additional problems at the end of chapters were added.
