Book excerpt: Résumé : "This will be a two-part handbook on Dynamic Game Theory and part of the Springer Reference program. Part I will be on the fundamentals and theory of dynamic games. It will serve as a quick reference and a source of detailed exposure to topics in dynamic games for a broad community of researchers, educators, practitioners, and students. Each topic will be covered in 2-3 chapters with one introducing basic theory and the other one or two covering recent advances and/or special topics. Part II will be on applications in fields such as economics, management science, engineering, biology, and the social sciences."

Book Multicriteria Decision Making and Differential Games

Download or read book Multicriteria Decision Making and Differential Games written by George Leitmann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-12-19 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of contributions to the subject of multicriteria decision making and differential games, all of which are based wholly or in part on papers that have appeared in the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications. The authors take this opportunity to revise, update, or enlarge upon their earlier publications. The theory of multicriteria decision making and differential games is concerned with situations in which a single decision maker is faced with a multiplicity of usually incompatible criteria, performance indices or payoffs, or in which a number of decision makers, or players, must take into account criteria each of which depends on the decisions of all the decision makers. The first six chapters are devoted to situations involving a single decision maker, or a number of decision makers in complete collaboration and thus being in effect a single decision maker. Chapters I -IV treat various topics in the theory of domination structures and nondominated decisions. Chapter V presents a discussion of efficient, or Pareto-optimal, decisions. The approach to multicriteria decision making via preference relations is explored in Chapter VI. When there is more than one decision maker, cooperation, as well as noncooperation, is possible. Chapters VII and VIII deal with the topic of coalitions in a dynamic setting, while Chapters IX and X address the situation of two unequal decision makers, a leader and a follower.

Book Probabilistic Methods in Applied Mathematics

Download or read book Probabilistic Methods in Applied Mathematics written by A. T. Bharucha-Reid and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Probabilistic Methods in Applied Mathematics, Volume 3 focuses on the influence of the probability theory on the formulation of mathematical models and development of theories in many applied fields. The selection first offers information on statistically well-set Cauchy problems and wave propagation in random anisotropic media. Discussions focus on extension to biaxial anisotropic random media; an effective medium description for a random uniaxial anisotropic medium and the resulting dyadic Green's function; evolution of the spectral matrix measure; and well-set Cauchy problems. The text then examines stochastic processes in heat and mass transport, including mass transport, velocity field, temperature transport, and coupling of mass and heat transport. The manuscript takes a look at the potential theory for Markov chains and stochastic differential games. Topics include formal solutions for some classes of stochastic linear pursuit-evasion games; solution of a stochastic linear pursuit-evasion game with nonrandom controls; problems of potential theory; and hitting distributions. The selection is a vital source of data for mathematicians and researchers interested in the probability theory.

Book Multicriteria Optimization

Download or read book Multicriteria Optimization written by Nodari Vakhania and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-criteria optimization problems naturally arise in practice when there is no single criterion for measuring the quality of a feasible solution. Since different criteria are contradictory, it is difficult and often impossible to find a single feasible solution that is good for all the criteria. Hence, some compromise is needed. As such, this book examines the commonly accepted compromise of the traditional Pareto-optimality approach. It also proposes one new alternative approach for generating feasible solutions to multi-criteria optimization problems. Finally, the book presents two chapters on the existing solution methods for two real-life, multi-criteria optimization problems.

Book Wspc Reference On Natural Resources And Environmental Policy In The Era Of Global Change The In 4 Volumes

Download or read book Wspc Reference On Natural Resources And Environmental Policy In The Era Of Global Change The In 4 Volumes written by and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-10-21 with total page 1631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The WSPC Reference on Natural Resources and Environmental Policy in the Era of Global Change provides a comprehensive and prominent reference of various highly authoritative volumes of long-term scientific value, for milestone concepts and theories. The books in the reference set are edited by leading experts in the fields of: Game Theory, International Relations and Global Politics, Computable General Equilibrium (CGE): Economy-Wide Modeling, and Experimental Economics. Each book in the reference set includes chapters that are laid out by recognized, broadly respected researchers, in fields associated with issues related to natural resources and environmental policy in the era of global change. The reference set focuses on the economic and strategic aspects of interactions among various parts of society, all dependent on the availability and utilization of limited natural resources and their impact on the environment. Policy implications are addressed, including current challenges and future perspectives. The combination of the four books provides a unique perspective on the issues that engage the public discourse of researchers and policy-makers at state, regional, and global levels. Each of the books in the reference set and all four books as a whole provide coverage of disciplines and angles through which the reader can obtain an understanding of the state-of-the-art of dealing with natural resources and environmental policy in the era of global change. The books in the reference set complement each other and provide a scientific understanding of our ability to address the issues covered.

Book Handbook of International Economics

Download or read book Handbook of International Economics written by P.B. Kenen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1984-01-01 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook adopts a traditional definition of the subject, and focuses primarily on the explanation of international transactions in goods, services, and assets, and on the main domestic effects of those transactions. The first volume deals with the "real side" of international economics. It is concerned with the explanation of trade and factor flows, with their main effects on goods and factor prices, on the allocation of resources and income distribution and on economic welfare, and also with the effects on national policies designed explicitly to influence trade and factor flows. In other words, it deals chiefly with microeconomic issues and methods. The second volume deals with the "monetary side" of the subject. It is concerned with the balance of payments adjustment process under fixed exchange rates, with exchange rate determination under flexible exchange rates, and with the domestic ramifications of these phenomena. Accordingly, it deals mainly with macroeconomic issues, although microeconomic methods are frequently utilized, especially in work on expectations, asset markets, and exchange rate behavior.
