    Book Details:
  • Author : Sheldon Stone
  • Publisher : World Scientific
  • Release : 1994
  • ISBN : 9789810218362
  • Pages : 676 pages

Download or read book B Decays written by Sheldon Stone and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 676 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2nd edition is an extensive update of "B Decays?. The revisions are necessary because of the extensive amount of new data and new theoretical ideas. This book reviews what is known about b-quark decays and also looks at what can be learned in the future. The importance of this research area is increasing, as evidenced by the approval of the luminosity upgrade for CESR and the asymmetric B factories at SLAC and KEK, and the possibility of experiments at hadron colliders. The key experimental observations made thus far, measurement of the lifetimes of the different B species, B0-B0 mixing, the discovery of ?Penguin? mediated decays, and the extraction of the CKM matrix elements Vub and Vcb from semileptonic decays, as well as more mundane results, are described in great detail by the experimentalists who have been closely involved with making the measurements. Theoretical progress in understanding b-quark decays using HQET and lattice gauge techniques are described by theorists who have developed and used these techniques.Synthesizing the experimental and theoretical information, several articles discuss the implications for the ?Standard Model? and how further tests can be done using measurements of CP violation in the B system.

Book The Hadron Mass Spectrum

Download or read book The Hadron Mass Spectrum written by E. Klempt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hadron Mass Spectrum covers the proceedings of the Rheinfels Workshop on the Hadron Mass Spectrum, held in St. Goar, Germany on September 3-6, 1990. The book focuses on the processes, methodologies, and reactions involved in hadron spectroscopy. The selection first offers information on strange meson and strangeonium spectroscopy and strangeonium production from LASS. The book also takes a look at the status of strange meson spectroscopy, including status of the spectroscopy, systematics of the level structure, and contributions from LASS. The publication examines the scalar meson enigma and two photon couplings of scalar and tensor mesons. The manuscript also touches on rhoprimes, omegaprimes, and glueballs; meson production mechanisms and selection criteria for cryptoexotic states; and light meson spectroscopy and threshold effects. The selection is a dependable reference for readers interested in hadron mass spectrum.

Book Establishment of Bs Meson Production at the Psi 5S Energy Using Beauty and Charm Decays

Download or read book Establishment of Bs Meson Production at the Psi 5S Energy Using Beauty and Charm Decays written by Radia Sia and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To constrain our knowledge of Bs production at the Upsilon(5S) by making other measurements with other model dependencies, we examine CLEO-c data for other particle species than Ds, that are produced with much higher rate in Bs meson decays than in B meson decays. Such particle like eta, eta' and &phis;, with their ss quark composition, are expected to be enhanced in Ds than in D meson decays. We therefore measure the inclusive branching fractions of charm mesons, namely D0, D + and D+s , into etaX, eta'X, and &phis;X decays. We find that the rates from D+s are much larger than from D0 and D+.

Book Quark Model And High Energy Collisions 2nd Edition

Download or read book Quark Model And High Energy Collisions 2nd Edition written by Vladimir Vladislavovich Anisovich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004-03-15 with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an updated version of the book published in 1985. QCD-motivated, it gives a detailed description of hadron structure and soft interactions in the additive quark model, where hadrons are regarded as composite systems of dressed quarks. In the past decade it has become clear that nonperturbative QCD, responsible for soft hadronic processes, may differ rather drastically from perturbative QCD. The understanding of nonperturbative QCD requires a detailed investigation of the experiments and the theoretical approaches. Bearing this in mind, the book has been rewritten paying special attention to the interplay of soft hadronic collisions and the quark model. It is at the crossroads of these domains that peculiar features of strong QCD reveal themselves. The book discusses constituent quarks, diquarks, the massive effective gluons and the problem of scalar isoscalar mesons. The quark-gluonium classification of meson states is also given. Experimentally observed properties of hadrons are presented together with the corresponding theoretical interpretation in the framework of the composite hadron structure. The text includes a large theoretical part, which shows how to treat composite systems (including relativistic ones) with a technique based on spectral integration. This technique provides the possibility of handling hadrons as weakly bound systems of quarks and, at the same time, takes into account confinement.Attention is focused on the composite structure revealing itself in high energy hadron collisions. Fields of applicability of the additive quark model are discussed, as is colour screening in hadronic collisions at high and superhigh energies. Along with a detailed presentation of hadron-hadron collisions, a description of hadron-nucleus collisions is given.

Book Measurement of D sub S and D sub S sup Production in B Meson Decays and from Continuum E e Annihilations at s

Download or read book Measurement of D sub S and D sub S sup Production in B Meson Decays and from Continuum E e Annihilations at s written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New precise measurements of D{sub s} and D*{sub s}+ meson production from B mesons and q{bar q} continuum events near the?(4S) resonance are presented in this paper. Using the BABAR data recorded in 1999 and 2000 of 20.8 fb−1 on-resonance and 2.6 fb−1 off-resonance, we measure the inclusive branching fractions (B → D{sub s}+) = (10.93 ± 0.19 ± 0.58 ± 2.73)% and (B → D*{sub s}+) = (7.94 ± 0.82 ± 0.72 ± 1.99)%, where the first error is statistical, the second is the systematic error, and the third is the error due to the D{sub s}+ →?+ branching fraction uncertainty. The branching fractions (B → D{sup (*)}{sub s}+ {bar D}(*)) = (5.07 ± 0.09 ± 0.34 ± 1.27)% and (B → D*{sub s}+ {bar D}(*)) = (4.07 ± 0.42 ± 0.53 ± 1.02)% have been determined from the measured D{sup (*)}{sub s}+ momentum spectra.
