Download or read book On Communication An Interdisciplinary and Mathematical Approach written by Jürgen Klüver and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-05-05 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a radical new theoretical approach for the understanding of communication. The theory is operationalized by the application of certain computer programs, namely Soft Computing programs like cellular automata and artificial neural nets. In many examples the authors demonstrate how it is possible to model and analyze communicative processes, such as social combined with cognitive ones.

Book Applied and Industrial Mathematics Venice 2 1998

Download or read book Applied and Industrial Mathematics Venice 2 1998 written by Renato Spigler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, I have collected several papers which were presented at the international conference called "Venice-2/Symposium on Applied and In dustrial Mathematics". Such a conference was held in Venice, Italy, between June 11 and 16,1998, and was intended as the follow-up of the very successful similar event (called "Venice-1/Symposium on Applied and Industrial Math ematics"), that was also organized in Venice in October 1989. The Venice-1 conference ended up with a Kluwer volume like this one. I am grateful to Kluwer for having accepted to publish the present volume, the aim of which is to update somehow the state-of-the-art in the field of Ap plied Mathematics as well as in that of the nowadays rather more developed area of Industrial Mathematics. The most of the invited (key-note) speakers contributed to this volume with a paper related to their talk. There are, in addition·, a few significant contributed papers, selected on the basis of their quality and relevance to the present-time research activities. The topics considered in the conference range from rather general sub jects in applied and numerical analysis, to more specialized subjects such as polymers and disordered media, granular flow, semiconductor mathematics, superconductors, elasticity, tomography and other inverse problems, financial modeling, photographic sciences, etc. The papers collected in this volume provide a selection of them. It is clear from the previous list that some attention has been paid to relatively new and emerging fields.

Book Handbook of Research on Interdisciplinarity Between Science and Mathematics in Education

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Interdisciplinarity Between Science and Mathematics in Education written by Cavadas, Bento and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-01-24 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working in an interdisciplinary manner is long pursued but a difficult goal of science and mathematics education. The interdisciplinarity of science and mathematics can occur when connections between those disciplines are identified and developed. These connections could be expressed in the educational policies, curriculum, or in the science and mathematics teachers’ educational practices. Sometimes those connections are scarce, but in other moments, full integration is achieved. The Handbook of Research on Interdisciplinarity Between Science and Mathematics in Education presents results of good practices and interdisciplinary educational approaches in science and mathematics. It presents a broad range of approaches for all educational levels, from kindergarten to university. Covering topics such as computer programming, mathematics in environmental issues, and simple machines, this major reference work is an excellent resource for administrators and educators of both K-12 and higher education, government officials, pre-service teachers, teacher educators, librarians, researchers, and academicians.

Book Between Communication and Information

Download or read book Between Communication and Information written by Brent D. Ruben and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-29 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current popularity of such phrases as "information age" and 'information society" suggests thatlinks between information, communication, and: behavior have become closer and more complex in a technology-dominated culture. Social scientists have adopted an integrated approach to these concepts, opening up new theoretical perspectives on the media, social psychology, personal relationships, group process, international diplomacy, and consumer behavior. Between Communication and Information maps out a richly interdisciplinary approach to this development, offering innovative research and advancing our understanding of integrative frameworks. This fourth volume in the series reflects recently established lines of research as well as the continuing interest in basic areas of communications theory and practice. In Part I contributors explore the junction between communication and information from various theoretical perspectives, delving into the multilayered relationship between the two phenomena. Cross-disciplinary approaches in the fields of etymology and library science are presented in the second section. Part III. brings together case studies that examine the interaction of information and communication at individual and group levels; information exchanges between doctors and patients, children and computers, journalists and electronic news sources are analyzed in depth. The concluding segment focuses on large social contexts in which the interaction of communication and information affects the evolution of institutions and culture.Between Information and Communication both extends and challenges current thinking on the mutually supporting interplay of information and human behavior. It will be of interest to sociologists, media analysts, and communication specialists.
