Book Multivariate Statistical Modelling Based on Generalized Linear Models

Download or read book Multivariate Statistical Modelling Based on Generalized Linear Models written by Ludwig Fahrmeir and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concerned with the use of generalised linear models for univariate and multivariate regression analysis, this is a detailed introductory survey of the subject, based on the analysis of real data drawn from a variety of subjects such as the biological sciences, economics, and the social sciences. Where possible, technical details and proofs are deferred to an appendix in order to provide an accessible account for non-experts. Topics covered include: models for multi-categorical responses, model checking, time series and longitudinal data, random effects models, and state-space models. Throughout, the authors have taken great pains to discuss the underlying theoretical ideas in ways that relate well to the data at hand. As a result, numerous researchers whose work relies on the use of these models will find this an invaluable account.

Book Madan Lal Puri Selected Collected Works

Download or read book Madan Lal Puri Selected Collected Works written by Madan Lal Puri and published by VSP. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Puri is one of the most versatile and prolific researchers in the world in mathematical statistics. His research areas include nonparametric statistics, order statistics, limit theory under mixing, time series, splines, tests of normality, generalized inverses of matrices and related topics, stochastic processes, statistics of directional data, random sets, and fuzzy sets and fuzzy measures. His fundamental contributions in developing new rank-based methods and precise evaluation of the standard procedures, asymptotic expansions of distributions of rank statistics, as well as large deviation results concerning them, span such areas as analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, multivariate analysis, and time series, to mention a few. His in-depth analysis has resulted in pioneering research contributions to prominent journals that have substantial impact on current research. This book together with the other two volumes (Volume 1: Nonparametric Methods in Statistics and Related Topics; Volume 2: Probability Theory and Extreme Value Theory), are a concerted effort to make his research works easily available to the research community. The sheer volume of the research output by him and his collaborators, coupled with the broad spectrum of the subject matters investigated, and the great number of outlets where the papers were published, attach special significance in making these works easily accessible. The papers selected for inclusion in this work have been classified into three volumes each consisting of several parts. All three volumes carry a final part consisting of the contents of the other two, as well as the complete list of Professor Puri's publications.

Book Modern Applied U Statistics

Download or read book Modern Applied U Statistics written by Jeanne Kowalski and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-01-28 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A timely and applied approach to the newly discovered methods and applications of U-statistics Built on years of collaborative research and academic experience, Modern Applied U-Statistics successfully presents a thorough introduction to the theory of U-statistics using in-depth examples and applications that address contemporary areas of study including biomedical and psychosocial research. Utilizing a "learn by example" approach, this book provides an accessible, yet in-depth, treatment of U-statistics, as well as addresses key concepts in asymptotic theory by integrating translational and cross-disciplinary research. The authors begin with an introduction of the essential and theoretical foundations of U-statistics such as the notion of convergence in probability and distribution, basic convergence results, stochastic Os, inference theory, generalized estimating equations, as well as the definition and asymptotic properties of U-statistics. With an emphasis on nonparametric applications when and where applicable, the authors then build upon this established foundation in order to equip readers with the knowledge needed to understand the modern-day extensions of U-statistics that are explored in subsequent chapters. Additional topical coverage includes: Longitudinal data modeling with missing data Parametric and distribution-free mixed-effect and structural equation models A new multi-response based regression framework for non-parametric statistics such as the product moment correlation, Kendall's tau, and Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon rank tests A new class of U-statistic-based estimating equations (UBEE) for dependent responses Motivating examples, in-depth illustrations of statistical and model-building concepts, and an extensive discussion of longitudinal study designs strengthen the real-world utility and comprehension of this book. An accompanying Web site features SAS? and S-Plus? program codes, software applications, and additional study data. Modern Applied U-Statistics accommodates second- and third-year students of biostatistics at the graduate level and also serves as an excellent self-study for practitioners in the fields of bioinformatics and psychosocial research.

Book Asymptotic Properties and Computation of Maximum Likelihood Estimates in the Mixed Model of the Analysis of Variance

Download or read book Asymptotic Properties and Computation of Maximum Likelihood Estimates in the Mixed Model of the Analysis of Variance written by Stanford University. Department of Statistics and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem considered is the estimation of the parameters in the mixed model of the analysis of variance, assuming normality of the random effects and errors. Both asymptotic properties of such estimates as the size of the design increases and numerical procedures for their calculation are discussed. Estimation is carried out by the method of maximum likelihood. It is shown that there is a sequence of roots of the likelihood equations which is consistent, asymptotically normal and asymptotically efficient in the sense of attaining the Cramer-Rao lower bound for the covariance matrix as the size of the design increases. This is accomplished using a Taylor series expansion of the log-likelihood. (Modified author abstract).
