This was placed in a glass stoppered bottle and labeled Material 'a'. During the first crystallization from alcohol only the purer acid was re-dissolved. The impure solid was set aside in each case and finally mixed with that obtained from the acetic acid crystallisation which see. Approximately 200 grams of equally pure abietic acid were contaminated with capper when the flask contain.
