Book Singular and Degenerate Cauchy Problems

Download or read book Singular and Degenerate Cauchy Problems written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1977-01-13 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints associated with concepts of causality, memory and stationarity; methods of system representation with an accuracy that is the best within a given class of models; methods of covariance matrix estimation; methods for low-rank matrix approximations; hybrid methods based on a combination of iterative procedures and best operator approximation; and methods for information compression and filtering under condition that a filter model should satisfy restrictions associated with causality and different types of memory. As a result, the book represents a blend of new methods in general computational analysis, and specific, but also generic, techniques for study of systems theory ant its particular branches, such as optimal filtering and information compression. - Best operator approximation, - Non-Lagrange interpolation, - Generic Karhunen-Loeve transform - Generalised low-rank matrix approximation - Optimal data compression - Optimal nonlinear filtering

Book Abstract Cauchy Problems

Download or read book Abstract Cauchy Problems written by Irina V. Melnikova and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2001-03-27 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the theory of well-posed Cauchy problems is reasonably understood, ill-posed problems-involved in a numerous mathematical models in physics, engineering, and finance- can be approached in a variety of ways. Historically, there have been three major strategies for dealing with such problems: semigroup, abstract distribution, and regularizat

Book On Singular and Regular Cauchy Problems

Download or read book On Singular and Regular Cauchy Problems written by Joaquin B. Diaz and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The singular and regular Cauchy problems in question are relative to the Euler-Poisson-Darboux equation (initial conditions being given on the singular plane t = 0 and the regular plane t = t0 > 0). This account reviews the progress made at Maryland on the subject, and was presented at the conference in Differential Equations held at the University of California at Berkeley, June 1955. An example, due to Miss R. M. Davis, is presented to show that, in general, for k

Book Singular Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Singular Partial Differential Equations written by Abduhamid Dzhuraev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-11-29 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Singular Partial Differential Equations provides an analytical, constructive, and elementary approach to non-elementary problems. In the first monograph to consider such equations, the author investigates the solvability of partial differential equations and systems in a class of bounded functions with complex coefficients having singularities at the inner points or boundary of the domain. Using complex variable techniques, the author considers a variety of problems, including the Dirichlet, Neumann, and other problems for first order systems. He also explores applications to singular equations, degenerate, high-dimensional Beltrami systems in Cn,, and others. Singular Partial Differential Equations fills a gap in the literature on degenerate and singular partial differential equations and significantly contributes to the theory of boundary value problems for these equations and systems. It will undoubtedly stimulate further research in the field. Practical applications in analysis and physics make this important reading for researchers and students in physics and engineering, along with mathematicians.

Book Singular Integrals and Singular Integral Equations with a Cauchy Kernel and the Method of Symmetric Pairing

Download or read book Singular Integrals and Singular Integral Equations with a Cauchy Kernel and the Method of Symmetric Pairing written by Erwin H. Bareiss and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The method of symmetric pairing, combined with midpoint integration, is introduced for the numerical evaluation of Hilbert transforms (and the Kramers-Kronig relations) and singular integral equations with a Cauchy kernel. The method, for use on high-speed computers, is simple, reliable, and inexpensive. Numerical examples are presented.

Book Singular Integral Equations and Discrete Vortices

Download or read book Singular Integral Equations and Discrete Vortices written by I. K. Lifanov and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-11-05 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is divided into five parts and opens with elements of the theory of singular integral equation solutions in the class of absolutely integrable and non-integrable functions. The second part deals with elements of potential theory for the Helmholtz equation, especially with the reduction of Dirichlet and Neumann problems for Laplace and Helmholtz equations to singular integral equations. Part three contains methods of calculation for different one-dimensional and two-dimensional singular integrals. In this part, quadrature formulas of discrete vortex pair type in the plane case and closed vortex frame type in the spatial case for singular integrals are described for the first time. These quadrature formulas are applied to numerical solutions of singular integral equations of the 1st and 2nd kind with constant and variable coefficients, in part four of the book. Finally, discrete mathematical models of some problems in aerodynamics, electrodynamics and elasticity theory are given.
